Hi guys,

Skylanders will be the main x-mas present for my kids this year but I am a total newbee to it all haha! Could you help me out please.... I am getting them the following chars: Spyro + Legendary Spiro, Gill Grunt, Trigger Happy, Legendary chop chop, Legendary Bash, Stealth Elf and Whirlwind. As far as I can tell I have one of all the main groups except for Fire. Which fire Char would you recommend I can actually buy? I was looking for Ignitor but I cant find it. Is there any others I am missing that they are likely to *desperately NEED* right away (read; Desperately want so bad its a NEED!!!)

Also I am buying for the Wii but in 2 months my pre-ordered Star wars edition X-box 360 will be out so I intend to buy it for the x-box as well. Will I just need the game CD or does it need the platform as well? I dont know how the platform connects to the game, I understand the figures are usable on both consoles.

You could buy the little blind fire elf called "flameslinger" he is very fast and a good character!
Also you could wait a little because there is going to be a "dragon Peak" pack coming soon it will come with a stage and items and the character "Sunburn" another fire character.

Well you do need a game disc for each platform....one for Wii, Xbox, PlayStation...The portal and figures work for any of the systems. But the game itself is the same! (the Nintendo 3D's version is a different game)

Oh thats awesome, thank you I can get them started on the Wii then buy the Dragons peak thing for the x-box sinc eI will need a new disc for that anyway and they can get that char then that way

No no, haha The Dragon's peak thingy is not just for the Xbox it does not come with a disk!
It's just like the toy figures..... of a mountain that you put on the portal.

You will still need to buy the game for the Xbox to get the cd if you wanna play it on that system!

Hopefully they release just the game for the systems....check e-bay???

good move to get all the different elements at first buy, it will lengthen the game play, and you and your kids will have more fun. "flameslinger" is good so you should defiantly get that one. i got the 'eurptor' and he was a bit on the slow side to start with. the adventure packs 'pirate seas' and 'darklight crypt' are out now. these are extra game levels and you can use them with all version of the game, same as the figurines. 'dragon peak' and 'empire of ice' will come later...

ignitor you can only get with the 3ds game at the moment....

The 3DS Looks awesome, They have Ignitor, Stealth Elf and Dark Spyro. I wish I had a 3DS... Considering buying it and just e-baying the game, wonder if anyone would buy it. Probably just a tiny fraction of the price I pay but if my kids get the unique items and someone gets the disk for a very low price could work out well for everyone.

the 3ds portal work on the ps3 version and the pc version of the game, when connected with the usb...

Microsoft in their infinite wisdom have locked down connectivity so that is why it requires a special portal.

It is also why the XBox portal is not wireless; M$ won't release details of the wireless connectivity protocol.

But now this portal is the best. I hate wireless things that use battery =/

^This. I don't mind the Wiimote, as they last a long time for me. But anything else like this.... Meh. Technology I don't care for right now.

Ditto, the batteries last ages for me.

I know people who dislike the wired portal as the cord is no long enough for them to put it somewhere convenient for them to swap chars readily.

Which systems have wired portals? The Wii had a (somewhat) wireless Portal too.

Now, wouldn't people either override the chip or disable it?

Definitely get Flameslinger, you'll probably get more characters later anyway if the kids get hooked into it. The Sunburn/Dragon's Peak expansion does not have a ship date so no one knows when it'll come out.
