what are the silver skylanders are they mistakes or are they limited editions

They are just figures that got mispainted. They're the same as normal figures when used in the game.

Reposting this:

limited editions exist it's NOT a misprint, I think they're painted all silver. It says that they exist in the ActivisionBlizzard FAQ

^these are more rare and even harder to find since the retailers won't even know if they're getting them or not.

Also the legendary ones appear different in the game itself, while these silver painted ones still appear normally in game.

And they are ugly =/

I agree that they could look better, but I will probably try to find my favorite, stealth elf.
I have not personally seen them in stores. I know gamemaster has but has anyone else?

So, how doing rare figurines? By putting no effort in them, aka painting them all silver with no details... =/

With details yes, really. But not plain silver?

Silver or whatever color, they are simply there for those of us who love finding variants for collector's purposes.

I am now on the prowl for as many silver Skylanders as I can find.

Maybe they ran out of paint for the figures so they just decided to say they're RARE LIMITED EDITION!

It's just an idea.

So wait, these silver figures are propping up more and more now? I'm quite surprised there isn't an eBay listing for these silver Skylanders. They'll fetch quite a price since they're apparently 'limited edition'.

I wonder if the silver face ignitor was simply a mistake? I.e. either should have been all silver or fully painted? It does not match the other ones, either way...

One silver Boomer sold on EBay for $60 and another for $50.

I have to admit that the completionist in me was sorely tempted but I baulked at the thought of going down the track of 32 expensive variants.

I also cry shenanigans to Activision and think that they are simply covering up a production flaw. I agree that the silver variants are not attractive and reckon that it would have been chicken feed to plan for them in the game with all silver textures on the existing 3D models. I just reckon that if it were truly planned, it would be been announced/publicised more clearly (read hyped up more) defined in the game a la Legendary variants (without the req to have an alternate video).

Ok, I'm drawing the line at the LE stuff that has no effect in-game.

So it seems to me that Walmart is the only place that people have found these? In which case there will probably not be a whirlwind figure.

it looks like a paint error in production... if so i guess silver face ignitor will be more rare than the silver skylanders...

Well, so far, none of my local videogame stores have had any Silver Skylanders in. Has anyone from Europe found them yet?

I think the Ignitor could be a variant. Not sure. In anycase, mine is unique for having a silver face, instead of a painted face of fire.

I do have a silver Dino Rang I found at Walmart, which I posted in another topic I created, but will post again.

Okay, I folded and purchased online the 3 silver variants discovered so far.

Of course, I don't have the silver face Ignitor which seems to be a production error as I have not even heard of a second instance of that...

I want these . If the newer figures take more time to come out then I'll probably buy a few as a collectible.

According to my friend, who knows a lot about variants/errors, my silver-faced Ignitor could still be worth something since it's unique. Error or not, it's still something everyone can't find. Unique qualities in toys always have the chance to be rare later on. I still haven't seen another 3DS copy of the game with a silver-faced Ignitor. I put that baby in my safe.

In anycase, these silver Skylanders were aparently made on purpose. The official Skylanders FB and Twitter page notes that only a handful were produced.

I won't ever pay more than 7 bucks for them. Only way I will ever get anymore silver Skylanders, outside of my silver Dino-Rang, is if I find them at stores. If I don't, then at least I have 1.

that silver faced ignitor will make you rich. if the skylanders take of as expected, in 5 years it is worth gold on evilbay... and the silver spyro, if that get released, people will kill for it, lol...

These silver versions are a sign that (1) someone at quality control fell asleep or (2) the demand for it is so high that the manufacturer can't keep with orders that a few incomplete pieces had to be shipped to complete a case (or box).

In any case these "misprints" will have value depending on the popularity of the game overall. I personally are looking for some but will probably never buy them at eBay prices.

The only thing with the Silver faced Ignitor is that it's very easy to reproduce. It wouldn't take anyone that long to do it, or indeed with any other figure. Unless it's MIB, it's not normally as sought after, in my personal experience as a collector.

I agree, my silver variants are going to stay MIB.

It's really not normal for an unpainted toy to be silver, which is why I believe these are intentional and not misprints. Typically unpainted toys are some flat color, or translucent....

-He doesn't have another expensive hobby.

I have an underpaid job, I live alone in an expensive apartment and I eat well. I can still have enough money to buy some Skylanders =) So I guess it's not that hard.

I don't smoke
I don't drink
I don't have any expensive hobbies outside of gaming
I know where to shop (for the most part)

The only money I get is from my Mum if she's feeling generous- minus Christmas time.
My Dad'll take me to the cinema, buys films and iced coffee's for me, but he 'borrows' my money alot, so...

Can't wait 'til I can go out and get a job.

Congrats on the silver Eruptor. Although... That's what I fear the most. That the people who work at the stores get all the silvers. I hope to find one eventually, but I'm afraid eBay may be my best chance (although I'm not quite desperate enough to spend $$ on any Skylander yet).
