After all, even if you copy the game it makes no difference as you need to have purchased the PoP to use the figurines.

I tried to download the pirated version. It shows a white screen and asks to plug in the Portal.

It is definitely a step in the right direction, at least. The pirates and hackers will probably have a hard time getting past this one. I hope.

Didn't think about that before. But it makes a point.

I guess it would also work against pirating characters, since the character needs to be on the portal in order to use it. It seems like a good idea, though a really cheap move by Activision.

In a way yes, in a way, no.

I hear people with PC version of the game have been able to hack the toys themselves, to make different characters come up in game using a different toy.

Example: Make Spyro's toy bring up Stealth Elf in-game (or any other character).

Well, if people can figure out how to download the toy programming. They could pull off some crap like Emulators and ROMS.

Only, the "Emulator" part would be played by the Portal of Power, and the "ROM" part would be played by the toys.

My friend always downloads pirated PC games, but her Dad (who is an IT technician) can't work out how to do this for Skylanders.

Trust me TheWereCat, if a hacker/pirate is intending on doing so, they'll successfully do it...even if it does take a ****load of trial and error.

The portal technology has a cheap trick to it. All new hardware does. Just give it enough time and it will happen.

I think they knew this and couldn't fix it, so they made the game really buggy so nobody would buy the PC version. smilie
