Currently I have on Spyro the halo.
What are the most powerful (as in ability-enhancing) hats in the game?
And where are they?

Don't know, I just stick on hats that look cool on the characters (Trigger happy wears the frying pan and gill grunt wears the pirate hat, :3)
Though I think, if memory serves me, maybe the halo and wizard hat? Not sure tho, haven't got many hats. They're all in the element portals.

It all depends on whether you value increasing your element attack or your critical hit or you want to tank up and increase your amour.

If you want pure damage then you want crit so the Pirate Hat you get from the Pirate sea adventure pack mission is good.
You could also mix in speed for some slow characters (like gill grunt) or armor if they are squishy and need to live longer (Stealth Elf). Elemental Power is pretty useless, it increases the damage bonus you get when you are in a area of your element. Unless you switch your characters EVERY time your in a zone of your area and don't care about the boss battles then you could go for elemental power... But most of all just have fun with hats, get some with nice stats sure, but pick the ones you like the look off aswell. (You could probs find a list of hats with their stats on google or a site like Gamefaq, as it really depends on which skylander your talking about and what stats you want/need) |

Here is a list of hats I think have the stats that are worth it and their locations
Example: <Hat name> = <Stats> (<mission name>) Winged Hat = +12 Speed (Dragon's Peak) ADVENTURE PACK - not currently released Santa Hat = +20 Armor (Empire of Ice) ADVENTURE PACK - not currently released Pirate Hat = +20 Crit (Pirate Seas) ADVENTURE PACK Wabbit Ears = +12 Armor +4 Speed (Lair of Kaos) Unicorn Hat = +12 Crit +12 Armor (Quicksilver Vault) Here are some lesser alternatives for the adventure packs that are not out or if you don't own pirate seas Lil Devil = +9 Speed (Lava Lakes Railway) Crown of Light = +15 Armor (Cadaverous Crypt) Beret = + 15 Crit (Crawling Catacombs) For those who want elemental Power even though it is pretty usless you have... Wizard Hat +25 Elemental Power (Arkeyan Armory) Chef Hat +10 Crit + 10 Elemental Power (Darklight Crypt) ADVENTURE PACK Just a side note (correct me if I am wrong) but hats do NOT add stats int he 3DS version, they just look pretty. |

This maybe a crazy question. I (well my young son) has the wii version of the game and as we've gone along, he's put hats on some of his skylanders. Now we want to know, if you can take them off, or if they have to stay on forever!!
I've looked thru settings and can't find an option to remove the hats, is there something obvious I'm missing??? Thanks for helping |

On the XBox, use the "back" button with the <- on it, move to the "hats" part of the specifications for the character, and click on "No hats."

Press the - button (I think, could be the +) and keep cycle through till you get to the hats option for the Wii
