So I bought my son a copy of this game for his eventual 3DS, for Christmas. I was looking in his package, and I noticed something about Ignitor. His Ignitor is normal, which got me looking at mine, and I think mine is a variant.

First off, take a look at his, still in package.

Notice? Mine's face isn't colored like fire. I thought all of them would be like that, but I guess not. I was wondering why Ignitor would be missing that paint app, but it looks as if it's a variant.

Looks like they forgot to paint part of yours. You could use it as a way to tell them apart or take it back to the store if it is a problem.

Well, when the conveyor is running, and it misses painting what is supposed to be the norm, that normally constitutes a variant. At least, I would think.

I mean sure, it's no Marvel Universe Cable with Baby Hope, compared to Cable without Baby Hope. However, how many Ignitors are missing his face app?

Either you have a super-ultra-mega-monster valuable rare toy, or they ****ed up and forgot to paint it.

Hold onto it. Maybe it'll be worth a lot in the future.

Even if it is just a **** up, it'll still be more valuable than a normal version because it's a factory error.

Keep it in the package, it'll still work on the portal that way and the value will be even greater in the future (maybe).

Seriously, think about it. Joe-blow conveyor person messes up. He forgets to tell the machines painting these figures to apply a fire-type paint app to the face. Someone catches it, tells him, and they fix it.

However, some were mailed out. Can't stop those from hitting shelves. Question is, how many were shipped out before the error was spotted and corrected?

Well, just got back from two stores, and I looked at a total of about 20 copies of the 3DS game.

Every Ignitor had proper paint applied to his face.

I guess this Ignitor is going into my safe. I will now await a standalone release for Ignitor, to claim another one.

It happens fairy often, really. At least, from my collector OCD experience anyway.

The toys are actually hand painted, not machine... looks like someone forgot to paint your face - that's a pretty awesome factory defect i'd hold onto it!

I guess they don't realise that he's not an exclusive, he's just not available as a single character yet.

Even Dark Spyro, which is a real explusive, is not that expensive

How stupid.
A normal toy in the shops definately isn't worth x10 it's price.

Also, can't wait for individual Ignitor release since I don't have a 3DS

no, Dark Spyro has slightly different values. Everything is the same except Dark Spyro is +10 more strength than reg Spyro, and reg Spyro is +10 more defense than Dark Spyro.
