Game Informer gave Skylanders an 8/10.

I'm currently playing the game (finished the first mission, screwing around in the hub world thingy) and I would so far rate it a 7.5/10. Certainly better than the last two LoS games.

I think the game gets better as you go. The characters are more fun when they get leveled up, and the style of level arrangement is just like the classic Spyro games, cept without the portals.

Does anyone know what 'Enemy Goal' is? It randomly seems to pop up every now and then regardless of how many enemies I defeated.

And for those thinking about getting the guide - It's actually quite useless. It doesn't list the extra levels (shows you a map but no text strategy), doesn't give tips for the Heroic Challenges, doesn't give you info on the characters except the Skylanders themselves, no additional hints/tips etc.

^Mkay then. I probably would've ended up getting it for the concept art though.

I hope they get more fun as they get leveled up. I'm not a huge fan of Spyro's attacks.

EDIT: Who wrote the "reception" part of the Skylanders Wikipedia page? It's not written correctly, especially in the sense that there are no sources for the reviews that have been listed there.

^ETD and Big Rigs are the only two games I can recall that are worse. Shoot, even ET was better.

I think it's safe to say that Skylanders potentially looks better than the whole of LoS, and ETD. I've watched a playthrough of it that CAV recommended earlier on, and it looks interesting, but I don't think I would play it myself, the thing that puts me of now, is the camera angle. What is all that about.

Were all worse than TEN and DotD. I can also think if plenty of games that weren't a part of the Spyro franchise that are worse than TEN and DotD.

Agreed on ETD.

AHT is barely above TEN. At least it doesn't have a ridiculous standard for difficulty. Also, AHT had way less plotholes.

Shadow Legacy... Well, that's a DS game. The DS versions of TEN and DOTD suck worse.

SF I also agree with.

AHT had less plotholes, but at the same time its story was less noticeable. And when it comes to LoS plotholes, didn't those mostly appear in DotD?

I accidentally forgot to put "than DotD did.".

Face it, AHT had nothing to pick up the pieces from ETD with. LOS had a bad story, and it was a clean slate.

Hope kids have fun with this game, still wished they wouldve gave spyro his own game based on him solely but what can you do, guess I'll have to wait till next year to see where they'll take him. Still dont agree with paying 100bucks to finish the game but hey good gimmick.

If you've seen what I wrote, I said from what I've seen so far.

Its more of an educational guess I guess.

I really like SSA's style of play, I've played games like that (UB Funkies) and I've liked them.
This is Spyro, in 3D, has characters I really like *points at avi*

And, it combines the best of Classic & LoS

EDIT: Also, SSU may or may not have affected my answer just a bit.
(Its fun as hell!)

SSU would actually harm my answer if I didn't at all play the actual game.

To avoid a massive flame war, I wouldn't even rank Skylanders with other Spyro games. But I would agree that it competes well with the other great Spyro games.

To me so far (I'm only a few missions in), it's pretty much better than any Spyro game to have come out since Year of the Dragon. You can sense that real effort was put in to make the game as enjoyable to parents/teens as it would be for kids. Just like the old Spyro games.

I like the classic's silly, open game play and unpredictability, however I do appreciate the TLoS story and seriousness, but thats about it.

Is unlocking Skylanders in SSU worth it? I wouldn't think it is, since you only get it for a half hour and you're not even getting an actaul demo of what thet character is like in game. But of anyone disagrees, please feel free to tell me so and why.

I've been watching Aura's walkthroughs, and I love how much it reminds me of the Classic games.
