I'm 27 Years old and I LOVE this Game [CLOSED]

I know they say this is a kids game, but my 7 year old son and I are playing it together and I think I might be more into it than he is. I really like how you can get Bonus XP by collecting as many Skylanders as you can and pairing them up to your PS3. We have the 200% EXP bonus because I went a little crazy and bought every last Skylander currently available, even Dark Spyro, Whirlwind, and I ordered the Drill Sergeant via Sam's Club's website.

I don't care what they say, this game is fun, it's cute, it's different, it's addictive!

I know I'm not alone out there...

You're not alone. I'm 18 years old I think this game is awesome. Me and my bf are currently trying to collect every Skylander. We have 6 of them so far.

I have Dark Spyro, Spyro, Sonic Boom, Whirlwind, Stump Smash, Stealth Elf, Ghost Roaster, Terrafin, Prism Break, Flameslinger, Ignitor, Eruptor, Zap, Gill Grunt, Voodood, Drobot, Boomer and Trigger Happy.

I ordered Drill Sergeant today from the Sam's Club website, and I have a Legendary Pack of Legendary Spyro, Legendary Chop Chop, and Legendary Bash that should complete my set of everything currently available.

Tempted to get a regular Bash and Chop Chop, but I'm not sure that there is any benefit in doing so besides completing the set.

Out of curiosity, are the Legendary characters any different than the normal ones? Do they have different upgrades or attacks ETC?

27-15 = 12.

Assume 12 = y
Assume 15 = x
Assume 27 = z
Assume 2x (or 30) = a

12/15 = 0.8 (or 4/5)

y = 0.8x
2x = 30
z = 0.9a (or a - 0.1a)

x + y = 1.8x

According to that math, the OP is 1.8 times your age, CAV. Makes you a poor comparison.

Or... 27/15, if you wanted to get a scale factor. Besides that, what does that have to do with anything? This is where I'm gonna get the response "Oh! These people are childish if they like a kids game when they're in their late 20's!"

Because normally the influence of the hormones which impair logic and critical thinking skills wear off in the early twenties. However, that entirely depends on gender. Gender can make it be as high as fifty. Nonetheless, my inner perfectionist speaking in this standpoint. I tend to viciously attack any minute flaw in games. Insignificant polygon glitch? Your game sucks. Plothole? Your writers suck. Any minute detail that distracts or is undesirable? You suck.

Then again, that is from a purely logical standpoint, something most people don't approach.
bionicle2809 Diamond Sparx Gems: 8438
#14 Posted: 22:20:53 17/10/2011
I somehow don't think it's logical to say that a game instantly sucks because of a minute flaw. Do you not like any games then? This person may find the game enjoyable but won't sit blindly and say it's perfect because no game is perfect, they'll just have to face the fact that the game has a few flaws and deal with it, like most mature people do.
Prysom Ripto Gems: 131

I can deal with a FEW flaws. This is not one of those cases.

#16 Posted: 22:28:55 17/10/2011
Ok then, have you played the game and if so what makes this game any different than any other with a few flaws.

I said what I did because when someone thinks of a 15 year old boy, they think of someone whom will only play FPS and call every other game (especially Skylanders) a game for little babies.

No, because we can't see every post you make on every topic. But, back to the question in hand, you've not played the game yet therefore your argument is invalid.

Really, its more about mentality. When I look at the electronics department of a store and see a group of people acting a certain way, I'm not looking at how old they are, I'm looking at how old they act. I've seen 30-somes act like kids, and I've seen some junior high kids act like adults with full time jobs. FPS type people puts a picture in my mind of someone who is either obsessed with guns and military type stuff and/or has a narrow minded viewpoint of the quality in today's video games. I am not, however, picturing someone at a particular age. I've seen grown men argue with kids during online play, and it sickens me.

From what I've seen as far as reaction from people online and in real life, people who aren't familiar with Spyro warm up to the game faster than people who have mixed feelings about their favorite purple dragon being portrayed the way he is.

I haven't tried it yet... I don't know. THis game just doesn't seem so...Spyro-ey to me.
You might as well put another character with wings. I don't really see the real 'spyro element' coming back.
but who am I to judge.
might give it a go some time.

Picked it up yesterday, and both me and the GF really liked it - picked up whirlwind and Stealth elf outside the core 3. We ended up playing it way into the night. (we're both 26)

And yeah, they should have just called it Skylanders - just because Spyro is in it, doesn't make it a Spyro game, imho

It wasn't meant to be a fraction, just a divide symbol because the / is used as divide.

If you have the money and want the game, why not get it, and get something else for Christmas?

I had a similar dilemma in regards to the Sonic Generations Collectors Edition. I was going to wait until Christmas to get it, but seeing as I now have the money, I'm getting it on release, and getting something else for Christmas instead.

This other thing was actually going the PS3 or 3DS version of Skylanders, but I found something I wanted more. I was only going to get Skylanders because I couldn't think of anything else.

We got hooked! I am 33 years old and I have a 10 year old daughter who totally loves the game! We only planned to have the starter set but we went totally crazy after learning the 200 XP bonus when you enter 16 figures. We ended up with all of the figures except the one from the pirate set. Once we've figured out the game play then just the curiosity of what each figure can do is enough excuse to buy all the figures.

The concept of the game is not really new (anyone remember or even heard of UB funkeys?) but some key features have hit the mark in making it an awesome game. Coming from someone who has collected table top toys and trading cards and who has a passion for video games (FPS and MMOG), this was a no-brainer! I totally love the variety of figures plus the uniqueness of each them. The quality of the figures are pretty good and the wireless portal is a huge convenience. My daughter loved the elf characters and I fell in love with Trigger Happy. Toys for BOB did a good job of putting key elements that make a very addicting game. Customizable head gear, upgradable and customizable skills, levels, co-op are just some features that will keep you playing...and playing...and playing.

We've put in almost 10 hours into this game and Im sure this game has a good life span with all the different figures.

I do hope that activision will not treat and limit the figures to this current game only even if they plan to release future skylander titles. If these figures can be "carried over" to a new game then it will certainly be a good reason to collect all of the figures.
