The characters themselves look cool, and the appearance of thier attacks is neat, but I think I have to agree with my brother on the statement the changes each new character brings are only cosmetic. Sure you unlock areas with different elements, but Ultimately the gameplay isn't wowing me. Don't get me wrong, platforming always looks awesome to me and this is no exception; what I meant was that I'm not wowed by character-to-character gameplay. From what I see, it's almost the same thing the whole way through, with some slight changes as you switch from characters specializing in fast/slow/ranged/close combat.

Sonic Boom has her babies help her fight? That's so cute!
Dark Spyro really does look nearly identical to Spyro as far as gameplay is concerned, but that wing color inconsistency thing is still weird.

Her gender was unconfirmed before it was revealed. The DarkSpyro site had her gender as male on default before Dark52 corrected it.

So that makes her the second female character in the series to have children? (The first was the Mother Turtle from AHT)

I thought the turtle in AHT was just baby sitting. Maybe I should replay that one. smilie I know Nanny had kids (I'd bet money that she's Ember's mother). And don't forget Nina, Sparx's mom! smilie But this is the first time that any character's children get to play a real role in the games.

lol Yeah.

Remember, Razz, mother turtles leave their eggs on shore and the babies have to survive their trek to the ocean when they hatch. ;3

True, but since when has a game like Spyro cared about facts? smilie Last time I checked, red foxes don't live in the arctic and hyenas don't have poofy tails. smilie The turtle's dialogue made me think she was just a teacher or something, but I might have misheard that one (and it's been a few years).

Fridge Horror, yes, Nightmare Fuel...not unless you're terrified of fictional characters becoming orphaned (which must be awful, because almost all fictional characters are or become orphans). smilie And the Fridge Horror is much worse than those hatchlings just being orphaned: they're doomed to live for moments than return to the egg and repeat the process forever. Since it is implied that they learn and experience things and remember their time outside the egg, imagine them having to stay in the same place, hatching then returning to the ggs, for eternity.

They don't produce the eggs, they deliver them. They're not the mothers of the baby dragons.

FRIDGE HORROR!

Why can't the dragons in Spyro 3 find mates and make thier own eggs? How come the eggs have to be brought from elsewhere? Is the world of classic Spyro a place of segregation, where males and females kept separate until it's time to breed, then pushed apart again? Are the females forced to do nothing but breed, birth and repeat? Do any of them get to keep thier eggs or are they all taken away, without the mothers ever getting to see thier young? Also, why are the females living like this? Are they opressed by the males, or a single despot?

Note that I'm just putting forth random ideas, don't read too much into this.

You're really putting way too much thought into this.

Natural biology I don't think even applies to dragons of the Classic Spyro world, I think they have kinda like a "Magic Stork brings babies"-like thing, that's how dragon eggs are made, not "happytiems"
Razz Platinum Sparx Gems: 6124
#1941 Posted: 00:46:35 28/08/2011
I'm more or less with Skorpion on this one. The implication I got from the games is that dragons may have gender when young, but they grow up to be completely gender neutral (and bipedal), at least in the Insomniac games. The fairies get the dragon eggs only once every 12 years, which implies magical forces at work more than anything else.

I have a theory that after the female dragons lay their eggs, they go to other realms to find food for their families. During that time, the fairies deliver the eggs to the male dragons and they're in charge of hatching and caring for the babies until the mothers come back.
