Oh that small island, I can only get there with a cheat code, and on it, it has four pointless lives that I don't need at the end of the game, I have like thirty odd by then, like four extra lives will make much difference to me by that point anyway, I still wonder why Insomniac decided to put that island right out the way and make it impossible to get to, I'm suprised Sony or Universal let them get away with that.

Is that the island you get to by breaking the wall? Or the one behind the starting point of Midnight Mountain? Or is it somewhere else entirely?

It's to the right of the starting point in the homeworld, if you want to see it, climb the steps to the left of the building, and glide to the island in front of Spyro, then look to the left, and you may see a tall piece of rock in the distance, it is quite far off, and their is an island on top, there are four lives on there but you can't see them from this distance, I only know this because I cheated and used Moonjump to get there.

Ooooh! I'll have to remember to look for that next time I play YotD.

I don't think there is any other way of getting to that island, without the moon jump cheat you are useless. It's got to have been a mistake that Insomniac made whilst developing that last home world, perhaps there was supposed to have been a whirlwind that was meant to take Spyro there, if that was the case, then that would have been fun to go on.

There's another easter egg kind of like that in Fireworks Factory, in which you have to exploit a glitch in order to get to it.

i think it was a hacked copy tho, and i broke it when i was five and got a new one, but it was hacked,sorry.

unless i dreamed it.... but im shure my sis used a gameshark.... idk it was her PS1 at the time so idk, either it was a lizard or a cricket. now i hope i wasnt mistaken, but i thought it was a cricket. its possible we had a gameshark... yesh i played when i was like 1 and so yeah. Yeah, that's the one. And you have to use a glitch to get into that spot because it's impossible otherwise.

yeah it probably was a gameshark used. sorry i was 3, but i mite be able to get pics, ull have to wait cuz im on vacation.

I just put in the disc and I saw the island we're talking about. I always thought it was just a random background pillar or something.

Just to let you know that if you don't believe me that there ar a few lives on that island, check on YouTube, I only really found this out from a video I watched, and decided to test it out myself, as I thought the exact same thing as you did. I just forgot to mention that last time. Sorry.

There is a way to get to the life bottle without using Gameshark. Over the summer I've been passing my time by pulling off all the Spyro original trio game glitches I could do. To get to the bottle inside the mountain all you have to do is go to the tallest castle (past the big bridge) where those two Ninja boxes are. DON'T destroy them! Instead, you can get inbetween the one on the LEFT, and just execute a couple of small jumps. It takes a VERY long time and many tries, but if you jump JUST right inbetween the box, you will shoot up in the air in a very moon-jump like way. Then, quickly you must maneuver just right so you will land on top of the roof. From there, you must move very carefully to the farthest side to the right and from there you can get to the bottle. It's very hard to explain, but I hope I did at least somewhat a good job of telling you how.

I doubt it was laziness. It was probably more like crunch time and they didn't have the time or resources to take it out of the level. Given that I've been playing the game for almost ten years and didn't know it was there until now, it's not that big of a deal. Just kind of a cool, fun extra.

That island in Midnight Mountain was the original home of the Super Bonus World portal. There was going to be a very large whirlwind from the castle area where you get into the Sorceress fight, if you stand in the middle of the room and look up you'll see an opening. That's where the whirlwind was going to be and it was going to take you over there. But the person who designed the level left and some other people moved the portal and deleted the whirlwind and desided to put some lives there, too lazy to take that out I guess.

Ive always thought that hole was a skylight decoration. But that is much more interesting.

Ever since I've played Spyro 3, it always felt like there should be a whirlwind in that room. Interesting story though.

It's still kind of cheating in a sense, because you have to attempt at a glitch to get over there. It's impossible to get there without any cheating or using a glitch. But nice find though, I'll doubt if I would have the patience to keep attempting that one though.

A cricket? I saw video on YouTube that shows three sparkly butterflies each in a glass bottle.

Probably cuz I was four or whatever I thought I saw the cricket. In my mind now all I see is a sticker of cricket on my T.V. screen . Wow we went off topic, I guess I should make a topic about hidden lives !
