What do you think of Spyro?

It's took me awhile to get used to it, to be honest, if I saw the design two years ago, I wouldn't have even recognized that as looking anything like Spyro.

he looks alright, they could have done a bit better, but we cant change that now. He actualy looks cool. I still like the LoS Spyro better, but this new one is right up the aly

I think he's ugly in a cute way, but he's uglier than LoS Spyro and nowhere near as cute as classic Spyro.

Took me some time to get used to, but now I love his design.

He looks cool to me.

I took a liking to his design the first time I saw it. Since I've seen dragons in many different appearances in different media throughout my childhood, I wasn't fazed by Spyro's new look.

Took a few days to grow on me, but I never really hated it.

It grew on me. Now I like it.

...But those red eyes...just don't look right...

It was a surprise at first, but I was pretty fond of him almost from the start.

At first I was like "Ah!!! Demon Spyro!!!!!!!"
Now I'm like "Awwww cute little demon Spyro!"

He looked awesome when I first saw him. And he still does even if he looks like a gargoyle.

This was the closest thing I could find to match my reaction for the first time I saw Skylander's Spyro.

It through me off at first, however, I was never really one to complain about how a character looks.

Not much, I state I hate him but his design is near to beta Spyro

I like his design, not as much as the classic Spyro's, but I still like it.

Never was a big fan of it.

I just think he looks hilarious. Believe it or not, I have a picture of him on dA that I drew.

I don't think nothing much of this new design of Spyro, nor I care to hate it or like it, just not bothered about it.

First i was like: "What the heck is that!!?"
And now i'm: "That isn't so bad.."

It was a shock at first, but now he looks like a cute little grumpy old man.

I realy would have liked it if the designers kept the clasic spyro look. To be honest this spyro looks kind of demented to me.

I hate the new look, but the new look won't affect my opinion on the game when I play it.

I prefer Dark Spyro over Spyro, but that's just me.

It took a few days to get use to, but I would have to agree with scorpian on his second post.

I still dont like his design but it's whatever now. What can ya do, just hope for another spyro game in the future.

I really don't know what to think. He looks like a mix of Bratz Ponyz and a monster I wished they could make him more like the original Spyro or a mix of Original and Legend. Well I think the gameplay and environments look pretty good though! I'm exited. I really hope they add more original characters to the game. They should have included Sparx. There's no Spyro without Sparx(though he was kind of annoying in EtD. It was an annoying game anyway)!

i can get used to his apperance.

I could probably get used to the new apperance, but in the back of my mind I still won't think he is as cute as the original Spyro, or even the Legend of Spyro, to me, the Legend of Spyro was ugly in a cute way, Skylanders Spyro is random in a random way.

It's okay, ugly but cool, y'know? Not as cute as Classic Spyro, not by a long shot, but at least not as ugly as LOS Spyro. Sorry LOS fans, but I just can't get over that hideously mutilated snout!

Makes sense to me. A thing can be really ugly and still be cool or cute.

I've never had that feeling towards a character, and that's opinionated anyway, you can't really say it like it's a fact, because to me it sounds like you're saying it like that.

Uhhh superspyrofan she was just saying its possible to call something cool, cute and still be ugly she was just saying that like it makes sense because i've heard people have feelings like this toward something too. Maybe its not a fact but SOME people do feel this way about certain things.

Yep. Sorry Super, but you're misreading me again on that one. Haven't you ever seen the world's ugliest dog or a hairless cat? A lot of people think they're ugly but also cute. Heck, "so ugly it's cute" is a saying that's been in my family for generations (my aunt had a basette hound that fit that description perfectly). So, yeah. You might not feel that way, but I certainly do and so do a lot of other people. *shrug*

While I like it, I feel that many dedicated Spyro fans have more or less convinced themselves to love it, simply because the character is under the 'Spyro' name. Since I feel I'm going to get flamed for saying this, I'm just going to put it, short and sweet; it's not the best design. I think the design is ok. Not great. But I do admit, I am growing rather fond of it. But otherwise I like it.

I think Spyro is ugly! But I am not judging the game on that because there are some nice looking characters.

WereCat: While that is true in some cases, it isn't in a lot of them. I can't speak for everyone, but I personally found Skyro to be a massive improvement on both of his LoS versions. He's not as cute or as fun as the original, but he's closer to it than we've had for almost a decade while also being his own thing, which I found quite charming. I was pretty glad from the outset that he didn't take too much inspiration from LoS or Classic Spyro, but fantards can never be pleased and that turns out to be the biggest thing they whine about.

Forgotten World: The original Spyro games weren't targeted towards any gender. They were designed with a young audience in mind (under 13). Gender demographics weren't very big in the gaming industry in the 90s. LoS also did not have a set gender demographic and was just aiming for older players, period (Cynder was included specifically as a character female players could relate to). I see a lot of aiming towards boys in Skylanders, but it is on the whole just meant to appeal to kids in general.

Hmmm... It's kind of hard to explain if the concept doesn't make sense already. Try thinking about something that isn't normally considered cute but which you think is cute. Like...classic Spyro is a pretty good example. He's not adorable (the guy's got one heck of an overbite, for one), but there's just something about him that makes you look past what are very ugly traits to see the cuteness in him. It's harder for most people to do this with Skylanders Spyro, but some of us have. The big eyes and snub nose remind a lot of people of pug dogs or cute lizards (he makes me think of anoles ).
