While people have a right to like or dislike something, the Skylanders haters tend to say some things that tread over the 'Right to an opinion' line and cross over the 'Hating for the sake of hating, despite how stupid and hypocritical it may sound'. If they could give better reasons for disliking the game, I wouldn't have much of a problem with them, but as it stands, they are not, and I really have no reason to respect them. I just try to ignore them.

Again, I swear this fanbase is like Phantasy Star's. Maybe a bit more immature, IDK. But still hilariously/painfully stupid.

Only difference is I've seen more sane Spyro fans than sane Phantasy Star fans.

Take some kind of pride in that.

It's rare nowadays to see a fan posting a calm comment on why they hate and despise Skylanders instead of raging.

At least the calm ones are usually constructive.

Personally, the issue I have with Skylanders haters is the same issue I have with Cyndorks and SxC shippers: a lot of them don't seem to understand that there's a time and place for this sort of thing or even know when to just shut up after they've crossed a line. They treat their opinion (and it is exactly that) as irrefutable fact and treat most of the people who disagree with them like dirt. They've also got a hilarious knack for occasionally spending more time/energy on hating things than they do on liking anything (see: "hate" fan art of Skylanders, much of which is usually the best thing most of these people have ever drawn). There's exactly one calm Skylanders hater I can think of to date. The rest have thus far fallen into the category of "enraged, unreasonable fantard" no matter which version of Spyro they liked the best before now (I've seen bot classic and LoS fans be complete jerks to each other and Skylanders fans, so neither party is innocent here).

^Well, this place is the internet. Some raging Skylander haters get away with saying what they want to say, even when they're acting like jerks to everyone else when they're going all angry over a video game. I've seen some of those fans even make up claims that we have never played the original trilogy if we like Skylanders.

Gosh, some people take all this way too seriously. Well, let them say whatever they want about the new Skylander Spyro game. The only ones listening is themselves.

It's just a giant fanboy civil war.

If they have the evidence, then they can't defend their argument. That's why they just keep repeating everywhere.

The biggest problem I have with Skylander haters (which constantly makes me come back to respond each time) is how they believe themselves to be right, and then proceed to flame users that like the game. I can't seem to leave it alone when that comes in.

^That's what also I gets me irritated. Those haters are so full of themselves, and some of them are Classic nostalgia hoarders who claim what they say about the newer Spyro games are right and that fans who like the new games are 'traitors'.

I dont understand why people keep posting about how they hate this game. If they dont like it then go elsewhere and dont post starting a flame war. Sheesh, I dont like the game either but I dont go around saying i hate it and starting a flame war amoung other members it aint right. Im with aura and razz it gets tiresome.

I just wonder... what the haters act like if Acti made Spyro look like he did in the "classic" era. Would still be hating or would they wine about something else? Probably. They'll find something wrong with the world's, the plot, the gameplay, something to brag about the old days and act like the series is dead.

They'll still be complaining about Skylanders' gameplay not being like the Classics, even if Spyro was changed back to his original design.

The Classic vs. Legend war has been escalated into the Classic vs. Legend vs. Skylanders war.

It's like the government(Classic) and revolutionaries(Legend) are having a war, when some invaders from another country start to attack(Skylanders).

It's fun to watch, but it occasionally gets out of hand.

I'm just thinking out loud.

It's exactly happening like the Spanish Civil War, Nationalists vs. Communists, then the Communists get ticked off and fight their Anarchists ally and lose the whole war and then face 40 years of dictatorship.

Let's hope Spyro won't be like this with Kotick, the next Franco? Too late.

I think the biggest thing that's bothering me is that everyone is using Skylanders haters as an excuse to bash classic fans almost more than anything else. I haven't really seen the LoS fans hit with any of this even though they've been behaving just as badly. Why don't we all just knock it off, eh? Whining about the haters isn't exactly any better than being one of them. Instead of talking to the whiners who post "hate" fan art or rants, I just laugh at them, a lot, and don't say a thing. The "block" feature on most sites is a godsend and, barring that, ignoring someone who's being an obnoxious twit isn't as hard as you guys seem to think.

The block button has never been a godsend for me, more than it has been a curse.

Upon blocking someone, I would then recieve a large backlash from the person as well as their friends, since they have a bad habit of sending their friends/subscribers to attack my profile/channel. I'm accused of being butthurt, whiny, and unable to hold my ground in a debate or accept anothers' opinion, even if they didn't do the same.

This is why I never block anyone, for any reason. It only opens the doors even wider for them, and gives them more of a reason to flame me.

That's when you report them to site admins for harassment. I've been trolled by 4chan itself and came away without a scratch. All it took was one block and a friendly post. If I can stave off 4chan, I think you guys can handle some whiny Spyrotards.

Who gives a crap what they think of you? The funny thing about arguing or "debates" is that nobody wins. NOBODY. Ever. No matter what you say, you are not going to change their mind and vice versa. So why bother talking to them at all? I've been dealing with these kind of twits for almost five years now and, frankly, I have better things to do with my time than talk to someone who's just going to whine or be a petty little twerp and send their friends after me because I banhammered them and it hurt their wee little sense of pride.

Classic vs Legend vs Skylanders?

If anything Legend is slowly going to be left in the dark and it's going to end with Classic Vs Skylanders.

Trust me, Legend is in there, they just aren't being recognized.

Like I've said before, barring a single nasty incident with the head of a classic Spyro group on dA, all the other obnoxiousness I've seen has been coming from the LoS camp.

I'm sticking to my guns: I love iSpyro, I like what I've seen in Skyro, and LoSpyro can rot in obscurity (which he is already doing as far as most of the game review and news sites are concerned).

Not from where I'm sitting. I've gotten several people banned for harassment on dA. As for YouTube, the secret is to just not talk to anyone. It's a known fact that the only place full of more morons on-line is the IMDb forums. If you ignore them, you already win because whatever they've said falls on deaf ears and they won't get the screaming response they're trying to pull from you. It's just like babysitting or having younger siblings: they're just trying to bother you and if you don't play their stupid game you can't loose.

Not particularly bad, no. I just spent the day laughing my head off one heck of a Cyndork, so there is fun in these things sometimes. It's just when it starts to rile you up and cause more stress than fun that it's not worth doing anymore.

For me it seems to be both. There are moments where it's just fun, and moments where it feels like a chore due to needing to respond due to responding the first time.

You don't always have to respond. Most of the time, they've forgotten the whole thing until you post a reply. I tend to mess with them until they get boring, then leave. But I also avoid the sorts who I know are just going to whine and take things seriously in the wrong way (tempting as it is, I've avoided commenting on most of that "hate" fan art of Skylanders and content myself with laughing and maybe drawing a response they'll never see, like Skyro flipping the bird ).

lol When some of those fans bother me, I tell them to leave me alone in a calm fashion, but if they respond back to me rudely in a troll and flaming kind of way, I send them a stern message about them wasting their time flaming on me for liking a game they hate, then I block them so they won't bother me again.

You do realise that not everyone hates Skylanders JUST for how Spyro looks? Right? I don't like Skylanders. And I couldn't care LESS what Spyro looked like (I thought LoS Spyro was ugly, but I still like the game!). it's the whole toys thing I don't like. To me, it just seems like they're trying to scam money of little kids, there's what, 30 something toys, around 10 bucks each, that's 300 bucks just to get all the toys. And we all know all the little kids are gonna want to buy ALL of them.

Plus, all the good guys look like bad guys, and If I was a 6 year old, i'd probably get nightmares from looking at them, .

i don't mind that people like it, i respect your opinion, but it does get annoying when people keep saying how stupid we are for hating it, when it hasn't been released yet. newsflash. you haven't played it either. You don't know it's good.

I am frequently confused by the people who don't like Skylanders because it's a "cash cow". As a long-time reader/watcher/fan of epic fantasy, I noticed that LoS was no better than Skylanders in this regard. They slapped a bunch of fantasy cliches into the game, a faux epic plot, and a bunch of mildly famous actors just to lure in adults and fantasy fans, not unlike the toys meant to lure in kids. Frankly, I find Skylanders' marketing a lot more palatable: at least this time they're being honest and they aren't faking their premise (the game really is designed to appeal to just kids and is thus far doing exactly that).

I still think that if you complain about the haters, you're becoming just as bad as they are, I just ignore them, it doesn't really bother me at all.

Heart of Darkness is not, in fact, made for kids. That was a game designed to appeal specifically to fans of puzzle platformers at a time when most games weren't marketed towards a specific age group and the ESRB was still kind of new. And it's kind of amazing what can pass under the "E" rating (Portal is rated "E" if I remember rightly

Nuh-uh, Portal is "T".

Oh, that's right. It's Portal 2 that's E10 or something like that (which is still surprising). Still, some of the scariest things can be found in E games (piano in Mario 64 *shiver*).
