I don't necessarily want something EXACTLY like the classics, but something that makes you think and gives you some kind of variety and different options would be awesome! Enough of this overly simplified button mashing spam attacking already!

Actually, this game looks like the start of Spyro's button smashing games, TBH. Just look at what the whole trailer comprises of... smilie

It seriously is not the start of it, we've had it through three games.

LoS was like that (it certainly had more of that than platforming) and I don't see you complaining.

And how's about we wait for more footage?

LoS was not a button masher. There were a lot of moves, and the enemies were challenging. ANB was the only one with a lack of platforming. This looks worse than ANB to me, though.

I've given them enough time to show new footage.

It was a button masher to me. All 3 of them. I kept hitting the X button (ANsmilie or the B button (TEN and DotD), and then I would do some jumping around.

The game is still in the Alpha stages. You're not suppose to expect footage that early. Just because Sega did it for SG doesn't mean it's the new standard for how much footage is shown at once, especially considering what stage it's in (in terms of development).
sonicbrawler182 Platinum Sparx Gems: 7105
#1105 Posted: 16:06:21 07/05/2011
This has got nothing to do with SG. Many games show plenty of footage in the alpha stages (including other Sonic games). I don't see why they haven't done so with this.

I bet that at the E3, they'll show...

1, More pictures, and more levels, which we probably don't need, but it'll be cool.

2, More of the plot, which I think we need.

3, Every character, which is a definite must have.

4, What the boss fights are like, we don't really need that, but it'll be cool.

5, The game to the ESRB, okay, that will be neat to the U.S. we'll see what the other ratings are like.

6, Pictures on the other consoles.

And 7. The true release date, but I think we already have that.

So ISO better get ready for the next set of information, because it's not only going to be big. It's going to need more reserved spaces on the next page.

All I ever had to do was press o and x over and over while moving forward. As for challenging, I think tedious time consuming and boring are more accurate terms. As for there being alot of moves, Spyro did alot of differnet motions but he seemed to just do that anyway. Press o over and over and he'll spin and flip and jab his horns in all kinds of directions but you're still just pressing o.

ESRB is the age rating system for video games in America. It's the same initials you see on the front of the box of games in America. Like how England has PEGI.

iSO is the creator of this topic. It's also a file extension...

I'm guessing you don't really like action games, and find them boring. Not the same for me.
The fact you kept using the same button over and over is probably why you found it time consuming.

No, I tried using other buttons but it's still repetitive. The only moves that acutally depend on what button you push are the horn jab, change, flame, aerial kick, and random melee. I tried mixing it up but it all did a similar amount of damage and in the end it was all just button mashing. I say time consuming because I would end up fighting one continuous horde for ages without ever really getting anywhere. The whole game only takes me a few hours to complete.

Also, I like action games just fine as long as it feels like action istead of just looking like action. By that I want to feel like I'm actually getting somewhere, doing something, and accomplishing something. In LOS it was all just so repetitive. Go through here, cutscene, crowd of enemies, buttom mash fighting, leave into next area, repeat.

Alright guys, we're in drought mode - after four (4) weeks have been passed, there is still no new info revealed between those very weeks, and today. The status from the first post has been updated to reflect the current situation.

I've just checked the E3 website and once again Activision will attend. However, from what I know, the map layout has not been released. Here are the details for those who will attend:
http://e311.mapyourshow.com/3_...&markcamefrom=y

Speaking of E3, I would like to remind you guys that the event will start on the second week of June (June 7 [Tuesday] to June 9 [Thursday]). It is about 30 days away from there. Expect surprises, and disappointments within the area just like every other E3 events. xP

Now, time for some responses:
  • @Forgotten World - post #1088: There is certainly no doubt that a new flood of info will arrive, very impeding indeed! I might have to do something about this since there's a character limit for each post on this forum. Plus, I have to update this the very same for the Spyro Forum website. I might have to switch to something that will resolve both obstacles, maybe Google Docs will do.
  • @GamingMaster_76 - post #1114: Thank you for that link, but I think it goes more into the rumor realm. Whether or not it is true, I will not add this to the main posts in order to keep the info accurate.
  • @Anyone derailing the topic: Please keep the discussion of the latest game in the Spyro franchise on-topic. When you are talking one-on-one, you should move the conversation towards PMing instead, or create an discussion in the Off-Topic section. Thank you.

And off to ponies...! Or sleeping. (I hope this won't derail it - HINT HINT)

I got through the game easily (with small exceptions to TEN, mostly because of the camera), and half of the time I was simply beating people up, ergo button mashing.

I couldn't get very far in TEN, thought it was impossible, just kept getting stunned from attacks of enemies, and you would be stunned for ages, and you can't do nothing about it, it's like Spyro is so vulnerable in that game.

It looks like a watered down DotD. That's what I don't like.

To me, it just looks like it is over simplifying.
It would be like making a sequel to Sonic Colours, only taking out the Wisps, Springs, Dash Panels, Drift, Quick Step, Sonic Boost, and Co-Op. You would be left with just Jump and Homing Attack.
