^I recall the release date being September 30th.

Sorry Spyrocrash, but the only thing coming out tomorrow is the 3DS here in America.

Aw FUDGE. Well atleast i can save my money for this game. I'll just wait for a New 3DS before i get it because we all know nintendo's going to make an upgraded 3DS.

4DS... Be in the game...

That might cause motion sickness.
It would be cool to play skylanders on 3ds.

^this

While it would be cool to play in the game, it wouldn't sell well due to people getting sick from it. I probably wouldn't.

And it's almost garenteed that Skylanders will come for 3DS. Why would they pass it up? The only question is how would they get the toy to work? Maybe they could use a scan thing similar to the AR games they have, and it saves the figure into the game so you can bring it on the go and use it in the game until you go home and scan another toy into there.

they might have a special portal on the back of the game card, or mAke it plug into the other slot. Might have an sd card thing. It sucks that they took off the cord port, that would make things easier.

I have no idea how this should work on the DS-System. There is no USB-Port and not every model has a camera.

They said somewhere that a Portal would have multiple ports, probably 3... USB, that strange DS Charger Port and maybe one for an iPod or something... There was something about it having iPod/iPhone support...

3/27/11 update!

  • DEVELOPMENT: I will confirm that Micheal Graham works in Activision Publishing, not Toys for Bob. Since Sierra Entertainment (former property of Universal/Vivendi) merged with Activision Blizzard (under ownership of Vivendi, a French multi-industry company with a 52% stake as the biggest stockholder), it would make a lot of sense.
  • DEVELOPMENT: Added info regarding Ignited's involvement with setting up the Activision Booth, along with links containing images.
  • PLAYABLE CHARACTERS: XSparxX has showed me an image of the scan of the preview of the game from the NZone German magazine of the dragon sketches, confirming that the pencil sketch was indeed the earliest design of Spyro; and thus the "Other Characters" section has been kaboomed. I really want to add a reference link, but the image was deleted. Fortunately, by seeing this by myself, I can confirm this.
  • REFERENCES: Added - one image gallery page (IgnitedUSA), and two of them videos (Atamaii.com, IgnitedUSA).

I feel like sharing this info of what XSparxX told me when I asked if there's a bit more info for the preview of the game from that German NZone magazine. When I asked for the additional scans, XSparxX did not respond back. Here is what the user told me:

NOTE: By reading what this user told me, I will not be held responsible for anything; as I cannot tell if the info is verified, or not. For referencing reasons, I will not add this info into the main posts of the entire topic.
  • The game plays similar to previous Spyro games, but didn't mention if it is Classic, LOS, or both.
  • The game will have twenty levels.
  • The cards packaged for both Starter and Adventure Pack are trading cards where you play a card game, similar to Yugioh, or Magic the Gathering.

Have a good one!

Well in that case, the cards will be useless to me. I'll probably pass them on to someone, or maybe sell them if they're uncommon cards.

Well, it was obvious that Mike Graham is working at Activision since 2008, since Sierra moved into Activision's game department.

Cards?

Maybe the cards will contain special power-up expansions for the characters. For example a water breath "power-up card" for Spyro. You put the Spyro figure and the card on the portal and then you see Spyro getting his new power in the game. smilie

Or maybe an outfit expansion or it could increase the maximum amount of collectible EXPs.

But that's just an idea. smilie

No it's just a trading card game, not cards for the game. You need not a Wii, this game, the portal of powers or other stuff. Its a simple card game.

Am I the only one that finds 20 levels to sound a bit small? Maybe it's because of how most games nowadays don't have levels, rather chapters or worlds.

And it's kinda a Spyro game. He's the main star, no?

Well in Spyro the Dragon, the first game created, there are 32 levels.

And I believe this one to me feels like more of a spinoff than a reboot. Like for example with the Ratchet & Clank series with Ratchet: Gladiator/Deadlocked, Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters & Secret Agent Clank, to me they were spinoffs.

yea it is small compared to the number of levels in classic spyro games..but still its alot better (and hopefully more variable) than those 6 levels in TEN,8 in ANB and 11 in DOTD we had in the LoS games imo :3

Well were still not sure if he's the main star, but by the looks of it he seems just like one of the bunch without any ''main'' role...

I didn't even know there were that little levels in those games. smilie

Honestly, I kinda find him as one of the main stars, since he's been on all of the advertisements, and his name is in the title. Sure it's just for recognition, but it's still pretty convincing.

I managed to copy the content before the page was deleted:

"When the American International Toy Fair trade show kicked off in New York, more than 1,000 toy manufacturers showed toys they hope will be big sellers in 2011. Here are the standouts at the event for industry insiders:

• Sweet Talkin' Ken: Tied to Ken's 50th anniversary, Mattel's Sweet Talkin' Ken. A built-in microphone lets kids record anything they want Ken to say. He'll repeat it in his own voice, the child's voice or a high-pitched voice. Available now, $19.99.

• Ji Ga Zo: A mind-boggling puzzle game imported from Japan by Hasbro Inc. It is made up of 300 puzzle pieces with symbols on the back. Users upload any photo through the Internet and print out a map. They then match the symbols on the puzzle pieces and slowly assemble a puzzle version of the photo. Available now, $24.99.

Skylanders Spyro's Adventure: A hybrid videogame/collectible toy line by Activision. The characters in the videogame will be available as action figures with a chip in them. Debuting in the fall. Figures are expected to be under $10 and the game, which comes with three figures, about $69."
