But they are very little things. And I don't think Classic Spyro fans would oppose platforming.
So yeah, it's false to say DotD is bad because of fan suggestions.
People who think it's bad don't like it because it's not their type of game in general. Or, if you play for story, then DotD's plotholes are a punch in the face for some fans. That's why people don't like it, not fan suggestions.

Brawler, Skylanders didn't begin development until January of 2009. The game had already been out for 4 months.

Oh, but did it?
Remember that little comment Activision made? "The game has been in development for two and a half years, an unprecedented amount of time for a kids game." So, the game was announced in February 2011. Two years before that is February 2009. Another half a year back, and you're at August 2008. DotD was released in October 21st 2008 in the USA, and November 21st 2008 in Europe. So, if Activision were being truthful, Skylanders started development two months before DotD was first released.

It's not random, as I used evidence.
We are told it was because of the merger, but I find that Skylanders comment all too convenient. Activision tend to have more than one game be developed for one franchise at any given time.

From what I've heard, the game has been in development since January 2009. And even still, how would it rush the game? Skylanders is being developed by a completely different developer to DotD. And odds are they didn't think of putting Spyro in there, until probably last year. Therefore, it's not development of two games in one franchise. They were two different franchises, until they deicded to put the character in. So I fail to see how it would harm development of DotD. |

There is no proof that they put Spyro in later.
How would it rush the game? Easy - Get DotD out of the way so they can focus on Skylanders, the one with all the peripherals that they can put a price on. Also, we were told it was because of Sierra's merger with Activision Blizzard. But why would a simple merger cause the game to be rushed? Because Activision wanted to do what THEY wanted with Spyro(Skylanders), and to do that, they needed to get the Sierra Spyro out of the way(LoS). So when they merge with Sierra, they order Sierra to order EL to finish up the game early. I must say though, they done a good job of hiding that.

It was told that they put in Spyro for recognition. Ergo, they didn't put him at first, or at least didn't think about it.
And even still, how would the game be rushed when it's made by a completely different developer? |

SSF, DotD was rushed because of the merger with Activision. That came "straight from the horse's mouth". It's 100% true.
However, the other things I mentioned are things I believe are very possibly true, due to some detective work. But they are not confirmed. They are merely theories. But I used logic and reasoning to come to them. I didn't just randomly pull them out of my ass.

How can you do any detective work on it? You can't really say that DOTD was rushed because of Skylanders. I believe that Activision really started to work on Spyro in 2009, which apparently was in June. I don't understand why they say that it's been two years though because June 2010 would have been one year and June 2011 would be the second. |

I'm not sure in this situation. The only possibility I can think of is that Activision were being awkward and wanted LoS done, ASAP.
However, it does happen. For example, Call of Duty: Space Warfare has been delayed as help was needed for MW3, so they got the development team of Space Warfare to help on MW3......so I've heard anyway....not a CoD fan, so I don't follow it much, I read this on an article on Gamesradar though. But again, my previous posts were just theories. They are not confirmed, but very possible.

To me, it's just that they wanted to reach the deadline of October, so it could be in stores in time for the holidays. That's how E.T. and Pac-Man for the Atari, the first and third worst games of all time (respectively) ended up so bad. Because they were rushed to reach the deadline.

But that's the thing....there was NO reason to rush DotD for the holidays. Activision had their own, much more popular games coming out at the time. And other companies had much more popular games scheduled at that time too. So I don't see why they would rush it simply for the holidays. They couldn't of done that....there must be something more to it....

They did have a reason: More money for them. Even if it was just a little, it was still more money, and a good way to cash in on the kids that don't play violent video games. Basically, DotD was suppose to be the CoD of the holiday season for kids.

I mean who wouldn't be annoyed. if activision focuss on merley the complaints there loss cause there are a lot of people are excited about the new game. I aint happy that they have changed spyro and they aren't carrying on with the LOS series but im willing to give the new game a try. i do agree a game shouldn't be judged by its cover and it should be given a chance however, i understand why people would be less forgiving.
