I don't see why romance is a bad thing....nobody had any problems with the romance in the Classics....
Also, I don't count SxC as fanservice, simply because it was probably planned since before ANB was released.....you know....before it could possibly have any real fans....

It's mainly just Spyro who I don't want to have a relationship. Because he's the main character, who has been single for ten years (and hated love in YOTD), it's strange to see it now. While some people complain that it's about time that he gets a girlfriend, I find it rather annoying. Honestly, does every single freaking character have to have love? It's rare to see a character who is single and never gets pared up with someone through fandum nowadays...
I just think that him having a relationship with Cynder will not only kick out Sparx, but will change the atmosphere of the game. I liked it when Spyro was a kid who went around preventing evil from spreading along with the help of his small best friend. He was always that way until DotD. Also, what if Spyro was a kid again in SK? It would barf if he had a relationship even though he was only like, 10.

I only would accept Spyro having a love interest if it continues from DotD, in which case, the love interest would obviously be Cynder.
Most games I play actually don't have a main character with a love interest, if ANY romance. If I had to pick one favourite series to have romance, it would be TLoS. Also, even the games I play that do have romance in them never let it "take over the game". I honestly don't get why people are worried about that. And I don't see how a relationship with Cynder would push Sparx to the side...if anything, it could leave a lot of comedy potential.

Ahhhh you used it! And on the topic you're talking about, I just want to say I'm not accepting romance in a Spyro game just because I like Cynder, and SxC. I think I'd accept it with whoever it's between. I mean, Hunter and Bianca were a couple. There were many cutscenes of them. I didn't care. I don't remember anyone being against the couple. I didn't mind the romance in the Classics either. It was funny, but cute. Even though I'd rather CLASSIC Spyro stay single, I didn't mind the strongly hinted SpyroxElora thing, and I didn't mind Ember's fangirlism in AHT. ...And EmberxBandit was insanely funny to think about! But yeah, SxC seems to be the only serious one so far, but there still is some humour.

Actually, One of the producers said in an interview that they had no plans for LOS after ANB. I'll go find the link. http://www.christian-gaming.co...-michael-graham C:How did you decide this would be the last installment of The Legend of Spyro? Was this a decision made when the first was developed or, later? M:Actually, we never really planned to do a trilogy. Chris Wilson (Senior Producer) and I developed top line concepts for a story arc that we felt could potentially span over three games, yet no actual plans were made beyond the first game, so we never really knew if the story would ever continue beyond “A New Beginning.” Eventually, a very talented yet relatively unheard of team in France, Etranges Libellules, came on board with “Dawn of the Dragon.” We needed to figure out a way to maintain a certain level of continuity with the previous iterations while striving to make the game feel fresh and new for Spyro’s PS3 and Xbox 360 debut. The trilogy was a lot of work and as I look back at the past few years, I’m surprised we actually got this done. So yeah, SxC wasn't planned from the start.

Yeah, I liked the humor in the relationships. I hope they have that for Spyro and Cynder, or whatever couple they have. And there's a lot of potential for that with Sparx being cocky and the relationship he has with Spyro and Cynder. plus, Spyro and Cynder themselves can make it humorous. It doesn't all have to be Sparx

Ugh...
I say they should reboot, but keep all the characters from LOS and Classic without changing them, or only changing them slightly. That way they can start over without having to make all new characters or rewrite characters using similar models. Beyond that, I think they should include the mixture I outlined earlier as well.

They said "no actual plans", meaning that there was no concrete plans to make a sequel. He said that he "developed top line concepts for a story arc that could potentially span over three games". SxC could of easily been part of that "potential story arc". Otherwise, what was the point in Cynder being corrupted and not just a genuine villain?

I think another reboot would be a really bad move. They made TLoS for a reason, and according to the makers, they have plans, even if we don't see any possibilities. They can still bring back some old characters... If they made another reboot, I'm scared that would just kill Spyro. What if the fans didn't react well? And tbh, I'd be really frustrated if they did that. It'd be like they can't make up their minds... Quote: sonicbrawler182

Yeah, and to reboot it AND include a load of characters from BOTH universes would mean they would have to make a game that is the length of an RPG, in order to actually please everyone.
AoH stands for "Age of Heroes". I've only read two chapters at random, and they weren't one after the other, but it handles romance very well, both in a serious way and a funny way.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but that was kind of a paradox. See, if they changed thing to make money, it would in theory sell well, and if it sells well it must have fans. So they can't really change stuff for thier own gain AND loose fans. Also, we DEFINITELY need to have more of the old incorperated into it, and I mean the old AS IT WAS. The reason: Alot of people aren't even thinking of Spyro now, and if people who aren't already a part of the fanbase probably won't give it a second thought (unless they make some insane changes). So if they want any money out of Spyro WITHOUT the crazy changes, they need to please both sides of the fandom well, so they can keep LOS fans AND regain the old. See what I'm saying?

And I think newcomers to the fandom would get confused, just as I did with Sonic!
I hate thinking about the idea of another reboot. I mean, maybe they could pull it off, but the chances are against it. And I think they could improve the current Universe Spyro's in to please more fans (you can't please everyone) And I might sound hypocritical right there, but if they did another reboot, I think they'd disappoint more fans than they'd please. And AoH! I looked it up, and I watch the artist, i remember, But they rarely post anymore! I remember reading some of the chapters way back, but I haven't read them in so long so I forget about it! |

Well, first off we don't NEED a ton of races/characters. We don't want Spyro following Sonic's road...
Second, there was positive AND negative emotions from Spyro and Cynder in LoS, hence Cynder's new-found sense of humour in DotD, and her moments of cockiness in TEN. Also, Spyro acted almost identically to the Classic Spyro in ANB, and in TEN, he was quite spunky too. In DotD, he was less spunky, but that was because he was more mature, and acted like the "leader of a proud species", as hinted at on the Spyro's Lair website. The difference between Classic Spyro's happy/humourous moments and LoS's, is that Classic Spyro exaggerated EVERYTHING. The way characters reacted to the smallest things is comparable to the way a Christian would react to the coming of Jesus. This is especially true in the GBA games. Basically, it's like a Nickelodian cartoon. LoS, on the other hand, was more laid back in presenting humour, similar to the way some jokes surrounding Brian and Stewie in Family Guy are presented. ...So yeah, I think the best decision in terms of tone would be to mix ANB's atmosphere with DotD's. Very serious, but until the ending areas, characters often throw witty comments about.

I didn't really find any of the LoS games overly funny.
I disagree that classic was exaggerated with everything. Otherwise, LoS Spyro can be found guilty of the same at times - Seriously, from Sparx, burping loudly? You think that's not 'exaggerated'? I personally, didn't once see Spyro or Cynder laugh, and therefore.... I'd hardly say there were any real positive moments from them. And I'm sorry, but there's no way LoS Spyro has ever acted nearly identically to Classic Spyro, come on now.

I agree. Look at Cynder? She too was bad girl gone good. As long as they used the setup DotD had, continued in LoS universe, and included Cynder, they could make it a return to the clasics, adding all of the old characters (hopefully agent 9! I love that guy! He cracks me up everytime ) And by "setup" I mean the free-roaming, free-flight, objective-based, hidden items everywhere setup. Wait...what's the difference between classic and legend universe? Avalar is both... So maybe legends is just a different section of the classic universe, like europe to the united states? |

In ANB, he was very similar. I couldn't play the game(well...watch the cutscenes) without getting Classic Spyro nostalgia!
And Spyro did laugh in ANB, and sniggers a couple of times else where. Cynder also had a slight giggle at the start of some of her lines in DotD, and even once or twice in ANB. I never said LoS wasn't guilty of it, but it's only really from Sparx, Volteer and Cyril. Compare Spyro's witty lines in LoS to his witty lines in the Classics, and you'll get what I mean (especially in the case of Spyro 1).

I don't mean a little giggle.... Like I've said, I want to hear a full laugh from them both. ANB we did hear that, and ANB had the best storyline from LoS (IMO).
The classics were meant to be more lighthearted in general though, which is why I'd like some - Not all, of that humor in the next game. For example, Moneybags was hilarious - But somehow, it's easy to imagine someone just like him, just as it is with Volteer, without being considered over the top so to speak.

What if cynder replacing sparx was unintentional?
Like what if Wayne brady quit or had omething else to do and couldn't finish the voice acting while the game was still in production? It could be that something happened and he couldn't voice Sparx anymore, and the game was too far along to change VAs, so they had to do a little editing here and there to replace sparx. MDK2 changed Max's VA midgame because his previous VA died. But the second VA that replaced his first VA sounded almost identical to his first. |

For me, ANB had the worst STORYLINE, but the probably the best humour.
The reason I don't want too much Classic Spyro writing traits is because LoS was supposed to provide a different atmosphere, and I want it to stay as different from the Classics as possible in terms of tone. On odd reference is fine, but I don't want it to feel like "Classic Spyro in the LoS world", if you know what I mean. I have the Classics to fill my desire for light-heartedness from Spyro, and then LoS gives me my fill of darkness. I think if they push for a 12+ demographic, they won't risk cringeworthy, over the top humour/dialogue. ...I'd love some similar humour to the LBP tutorials, in either universe!

My brother came up with some pretty good observations and ideas regarding Spyro.
First, From what I've told him, he has come to the conclusion that Spyro is ***'d! The first three, in his opinion, were good, the next two were alright but not great, and once they made LOS they royally screwed Spyro because they didn't even have the slightest continuity between LOS and the previous game. By making LOS, they were just beating a dead horse; 'defiling the corpse of Spyro in an attempt to get a decent game from him, but oly revcieving a foul smelling liquit from an unwholesome orifice'. His main idea is to drop Spyro alltogether and use the remaining funds to make an all new, better game. His second idea which he considers the ONLY option to get any money from Spyro is to disregard every game done after the first three, and start again where YotD left off. Please keep in mind that he is unbiased towards Spyro as he is not a fan, and the info I gave him was as unbiased as I could make it, giving him feedback from fans besides myself, including some LOS fans. Hear me out here, if they did that there is no reason they couldn't move along, keeping small but effective continuities between the previous game, until they reach the point where they can bring back characters and scenarios from LOS, AND keep characters from the old with small but likable/forgivable changes. Once they reach this point again, they could do it in a way that is more enjoyable to a wider spectrum of fans, and that makes more sence in regards to previous games. It may be a bit confusing/ frustrating, but it may be Spyro's only hope for survival. The reason for this is that as my bro said, to continue with Spyro from where DotD left off, with the major evil of the world safely stowed in the earth's core, would be arbitrarily putting Spyro in some random situation with some random new evil who came from 'the *-hole of nowhere' only for the sake of a game. A game that will more likely than not sell very poorly I might add.

They might be able to somehow add Ripto or Gnasty Gnorc or some other major enemy with a little bit of creativity. The fate of Malefor doesn't have to end the series. |

But Malefor was the ultimate evil, and given all the god mode powers Spyro used throughout LOS, especially in DotD to defeat what was basically lord of evil and rebuild a whole planet, a giand gnorc or little dinosaur guy would be a step down from that. No, all thay can do (from my perspective) to have a villain of equal or greater calibre to Malefor would be to:
A)Ressurect him (redundant/repetitive) Invent a greater evil, like a true lord of evil/source of evil(that would really eliminate any continuation possibilities) C)Bring in a new villain (Ripto, Red, Gnasty, Sorceror/ess; and the rest as lesser bosses) who tries to take over Malefor's throne as ruler of darkness or whatever (IMO, this would be good for ONE game/one more trilogy before we're at the same point) Note that this is all just my opinion.

You do realise there are other things you can do for a game plot other than ultimate evil....I doubt Spyro and Cynder will live totally peaceful lives, so they could easily make another villain of sorts, or just of a lot of unrest in the world.
Also, the story doesn't have to have a villain be the centre of the conflict. Final Fantasy XIII is a great example of this concept. And I noticed how a lot of what your brother says is to do with story....this is a game. So what if the plot seems random for the sake of a new game. A lot of big game franchises do that and it has NEVER been considered a problem.

@SB: I for one think a game would be lacking if all you're doing is settling minor disputes and keeping people happy. Don't gat me wrong I like side quests and lesser tasks, but a game would be incomplete without a clear evil to fight. Also, about what was said earlier about Triumph (the makers of Overlord) possibly making Spyro: Overlord looks good and all, but I fear that given the title Spyro's Kingdom, and the apparent look of Overlord, Spyro may end up imitating it. I think that's a bad idea; someone needs to make Spyro into his own game. But hey, I'm probably worked up over nothing. We have no clue who is making SK or if it'll be Triumph, nor have I played Overlord, and so IDK if there is anything in it Spyro could learn from.

I just wish ActiVision would just suck it up and admit that they have a new Spyro game. A lot of people hear have ill feelings towards Acti, they admit that they are releasing a Spyro game, and they might win back a few fans.....
Oh my God...I think I just figured out why Acti denies Spyro... |
