It personally never felt like classic Spyro much with all the changes, but I don't disagree with it being in the original series.

I may talk a lot about how I think AHT is meh, which I think it is, but I did get some enjoyment out of it and plan to re-buy it sometime.

I thought it was basically the same, just much more advanced and a little more RPG-ish.

If Activision tries to make a Classic Spyro game everyone will just complain about how they did it wrong... It's a lose-lose for Activision either way.

For me personally, I don't think it's a lose-lose situation (towards sensable Spyro fans) for Activision because for many fans, EtD and AHT were not meh for for changing things up, but for doing too many things wrong or in clunky ways that detracted to some fan's enjoyment.

Exactly. Regardless how Activision does it, people will find a way to complain, which is why there's only one solution, and that's for Insomniac to buy the franchise back. But they won't do it, because Spyro simply can't hold a gun, which was a retarded reason to let him go.

Hey, before the LoS, I played AHT. It was different from the other Classic games I was familiar with, because of its lack of replayability of fighting bosses, portal transportations, and other things they didn't include that would've been like the Classic trilogy. It was different.

I feel as though AHT was an independant game that had no relations with LoS or Classic. It was it's own game, kinda like SL.

It seems like an original, but Sierra seem to be a little dumb when it comes to following an existing series. Instead of bothering to look at what made the game popular in the first place, they just seem to loosely follow it and make their own rules.
Crash lasted a whole game before they handed it over to another company, despite TT doing an amazing job on it. And then the series went downhill.

Sierra kinda led them both down this road overall, now that I think about it

You know what's sad? There are some fans out there who believe bionicle2809's fan Spyro game, The Destiny of Spyro, is a real Spyro game Activision is working on. They probably never bother to read the description saying that it's FAN GAME.

Then again, I've seen people post on fan trailers 'This isn't official you're lying you made it' even when it's clearly marked FAN trailer. I've even seen someone claiming a texture hack for Brawl was trying to fool people into believing the character was really in the game when, yet again, it states what it is.

People need to learn to read.

That's true, which is why I say it was an independant game. It followed it's own rules. Sierra ditched the Classic story, and made AHT. Then they binned THAT in favor of SL. And then they binned THAT in favor of LoS, and they decided to stick with it.

Spyro went down a tough road starting with ETD, and the franchise didn't regain itself until ANB. Since then I think the series has been alright, since I think LoS was pretty good.

Crash was good until Twinsanity. Naughty Dog did an excelent job with the original 3, and I think they should've kept the franchise. But they ditched it and eventually made Uncharted, a series that I never liked in the first place. Anyway, and TT did very well with Wrath of Cortex. From there however, things went downhill, and Crash has yet to rebuild.

Nothing new, right now.

2011 is near, or already here in other countries. Early 2011 is when we'll hear something hopefully.

Nothing and I doubt there'll be anything before E3.

I love AHT, most of the other Classics AND LoS!
In fact, I think AHT could be my favourite Classic game. I didn't mind the changes as they were either good, or "didn't have much impact". Also, I remember it being huge, in terms of it's world...

I think that AHT was pretty great to think of it, I literally love it compared to the TLOS games. I really like how Eurocom designed all of the areas, it's just that the challenges, I really hate them, and there not even like the ones from the Insomniac trilogy, like there's a few you like and dislike, now I haven't completed AHT, but the only challenges I seem to the like are the ones with Blink.

Also, I personally think that it was apart of the Original trilogy, even though Eurocom/Sierra made changes to it.

I think that the reason why Insomniac Games stopped making Spyro is a stupid one, it is a really poor excuse, and it's like they can't use their imaginations enough to think up of another idea for Spyro, look at how many Ratchet games they have made,they have thought of enough ideas for that franchise, so why couldn't they have done the same with Spyro? Nah, it's probably because Ratchet can hold a gun and Spyro can't, and apparently to Insomniac Games, that is a big difference. I only liked the first Ratchet game anyway, the others bore me, I treid Ratchet 2, 3 and Tools of Destruction, it's just not my thing, but for some reason I enjoy the first one.

Actually, Insomniac lost the right to even make Spyro games, that's why they stopped. Spyro is owned by Universal, and always has. They just stated that they "ran out of ideas anyway".

I knew that, but the excuse that they made was dumb, why couldn't they just say that they didn't have the rights in the first place, because now that effect has confused people into thinking that Insomniac Games just chucked the Spyro series away. But I also think that they do have enough money to buy the franchise back, they should do, they have enough fans and games.

Yeah, I've never even heard Insomniac Games mention the TLOS series in any of their videos, I've seen them mention the Original Spyro that they created from time to time, but they don't really seem to go into any major detail.

I think they might take the attitude of 'Ah well, it's not our concern now' so to speak.

I've seen a collection of videos compressed into 1 there that goes for an hour and a half.

I know alot of people are worried about this next game. If the next game sucks, what will you do? Leave the fanbase forever, wait for something good? I think if it sucks that'll be it for me. I might have to make new DA and YT accounts which don't use the word Spyro...

I'll still love Spyro and play the games, aswell as discuss them here. Not to mention make and view fanart and what not. Basically, I will still be a fan. The only bad Spyro game I've played is ETD, and maybe SoI. I don't feel one game I don't like can push me out of the fanbase. Sonic 06 was terrible and I'm still a huge Sonic fan. A lot of people think Sonic Adventure 2 was the last amazing Sonic game until the recent Sonic Colours, yet they stayed Sonic fans all those years. Spyro has been doing fine, with one or two bad games that came out a long time ago, and one of them was a minor installment. I don't see the fanbase being destroyed if some people don't like the next game.

Agreed. I don't see anything that could possibly be so tragic in the Spyro universe that this fanbase would be virtually destroyed.

I didn't say the whole fanbase, I meant how would specific fans react. I know some people would just leave forever if they dicided they didn't like the next game, though I bet they'd still like some games.

Spyro's Kingdom is an upcoming Action/Adventure game for the Spyro the Dragon series being published by Activision, set to be released in 2011 on the Nintendo DS, Wii, and possibly on other game consoles. It's currently unknown if it will be part of the classic series, the Legend series, or start up a completely new series.

ProductionThe game is currently under production, and has been in the making since June 2009 with its test title "Spyro's Kingdom".

Within October 2010, the game was leaked out. Tom Bromhead is set to voice a character in the upcoming game, but who he will voice remains unknown. His list of his latest voice works included the test title, Spyro's Kingdom, but he removed it shortly after fans have emailed him. It is unknown is this was Activision's doing, or the voice actor's.

There was evidence of Spyro's Kingdom being in an Adventure Pack and Starter Pack on a site named completeepos, but Activision removed them off the list of their upcoming and recently released games.

The title Spyro's Kingdom on the resume of Catherine Wolpe was recently deleted off the page, possibly because of Activision trying to hide the game back within their walls.
In the resume of this Delpine Pham, who had previously worked with Activision, it shows that she planned on the creation and management of international web projects for AAA titles, including Spyro, from May 2009 - Present.
