No i guess thats what I get when you get a mixture of hunger and typing at the same time, I meant to say I can feel the emotion behind the characters. I can be in their shoes and get what they are feeling at the time.

Chapter 10 - Last words...

His home was in flames, nearly everyone he knew was dead..and here was his father speaking his last word in Bane's arms. His entire world seemed to have fallen apart in a single hour. A strong wind began to blow and slightly quiet the flames and blow away the smoke, the moon was shining brightly in the dark sky.

" Bane...monsters attacked the village, while you were gone..they..came out of the darkness...we never saw them coming. They killed almost everyone. Evil things are taking place as we speak and it is up to you to stop them." Sohtia said weakly, his eyes half closed as he looked up to see the face of his son.

" Dad, I am so sorry..this is all my fault..I" Bane said quickly before being cut off by his father, his eyes were becoming filled with tears.

" You did nothing wrong son. I should have known better then to think I could be a good enough father for you." Sohtia said calmly as he slowly reached up his right claw to gently brush Bane's cheek wiping some of the tears off..

" Dont do this, dont die like this.." Bane begged through the tears dripping down his face.

" Shhhh..." Sohtia said quietly bring his hand to his lips. " You must head into the mountains.. there is a small cave you must find near the top of the west peak..Inside your destiny will be revealed." He continued slowly.

" No, I am not going to leave you here to die!" Bane cried out as his tears began to drop to the ground.

" It will be alright son, a great adventure is ahead of you. Isen't that what you have always wanted?" Sohtia said with a faint smile.

" No, I want you dad..Please dont leave me..please." Bane pleaded with his father as if somehow it would save him.

"If only will could make it so, but son there is something you must know, only I can tell you. All this had happened before. When you were young the same creatures that attacked the village attack me..and your mother." Sohtia strained to say.

"My mother?" Bane whispered in shock. He knew so little about her and his father never said a word about her.

"Yes your mother.. She did not die of natural causes like I led you to believe. She died defending you from the same monsters that attacked the village. She died in my arms, just like I am going to die in yours." Sohtia said faintly, several tears strained to be released from his eyes.

"You are not going to die! I wont let you!" Bane yelled with a deep sadness in his heart, Bane had never saw his father cry untill now.

"It is too late for that son. Now go on son you must discover your destiny and save us all.." Sohtia said through his heavy caughing."I love...I love y--" he stopped midsentance as his head fell motionless.

" Dad? Dad!" Bane cried as he began to shake his fathers body.

" Dont do this! Dont die! Please..." Bane pleaded through the tears now covering his face as he stared into his father's glazed over eyes.

Bane began to sob uncontrollably as he futiley shook his dad's lifeless body. Suddenly Sohtia's arms slided open and a wooden object fell onto the ground. Bane wiped his eyes so he could see clearly, he picked up the small object and saw what it was. In his hands Bane held the present his father had given to him just earlier that day, the tiny picture of Bane and his father together. Bane held the tiny picture closesly to him as he cried.

For his entire life Bane had been rude to his father who had never once punished Bane and tried so hard to be a good parent. Now his father was dead in his arms, and Bane could not remember the last time he told his father he loved him.. in fact he never once did. Not once had Bane told his father he loved him.

Bane looked down at the picture in his hands and the words his father had said echoed in his mind, "This way we can be together wherever we are!".

Bane wept bitterly as he remembered all his father had done for him and how little Bane appreciated him. Bane turned to look into the fires that covered the rest of the village Bane could feel a fierce anger consume him.

" I will avenge you father...Whoever did this will suffer." Bane growled menacingly through his tears.

But that anger that had consumed Bane faded as he looked at his father who was lying still in his arms. It started to rain softly putting out the flames and the wind became silent once more. Bane's head fell on his fathers, holding the picture that he had given him closely to his chest. He wept all through the night huddled next to his father, only the rain to keep him company during the most silent night.

Sigh, Tibs... I'm pretty sure I love you.

Chapter 11 - Final Goodbye

It was morning but it looked nothing like it. The sun was hidden beneath layers of clouds and a thunderstorm raged all around the land.

As his eyes slowly drifted open he could already smell the bodies that littered the ground not to far away. Bane did not remember falling asleep, the last thing he remembered was his father lying motionlessly in his arms. Bane looked down to see his father siting silently on the ground, a distant smile on his face. Bane slowly got to his feet and began to carry Sohtia through the storm all across the destroyed village towards the unfinished temple. Before he got far a sudden memory rushed his mind. He remembered the picture his father had given him.

Bane gently droped his father on the cold, barren ground and rushed back to the broken building. He saw the picture on the ground, its soft wooden frame dripping with water. Bane picked up the picture and carefully placed it on his hipbag.(A small bag hung around the hip to carry small items.) When finished he walked through the rain back to his father and started to carry him once more.

As Bane walked he saw the true horrors of the attack. Dragon bodies layed strewn throughout the village, even the hatchlings were dead. Bane had lost so much in such a short time he did not seem to care, he gazed blankly at the bodies as he carried his father through the heavy rain. His mind was assaulted by all the events that had happened just two days before, and the people he had known, their voices echoing in his mind.

Within a few minutes Bane was standing in front of the temple, his father still on his back. Bane slowly dropped him off of his back and began to dig a large hole in the ground, the rain dripping off of his shoulders. Bane quickly turned and looked around for some wood. It was hard to see because all the rain in his eyes but Bane found a large pile of wooden planks, the same he and Grom carried two days ago. He used his razor sharp claws to cut a small portion of the plank off. He then inscribed a few words into it before taking it back to the hole he had made earlier.

Bane grabbed his father and gently placed him in the hole, a single tear falling from Bane's eye.

" Goodbye dad...I love you..I love you so much." Bane said quietly before dumping all the dirt he had moved to make the grave back into it. He then planted the small plank of wood into the ground just above where the grave layed.

Bane stood there in the rain silently for several minutes, staring at his father's shallow grave, the rain pouring off him. The loud thunder did not even seem to phase him. A sudden voice broke the bitter silence.

" Bane! Is that realy you?" A voice whispered.

Bane slowly lifted his head and looked around. He saw nothing but what remained of the construction site.

"Bane! Over here!" The voice called out again.

Bane scanned the area and found a large dragon cowering under a pile of wood, it was Grom.

" Thank the ancestors! I thought you were another one of those monsters when I heard footsteps." Grom said quickly wiping his forehead.

Bane said nothing but instead stared into the distance. Finding Grom when he first entered the village would have made Bane estatic but now..Bane just diden't care anymore.

" Bane? Where have you been? I heard you did..horrible things but I dont believe it! I have been hinding here for hours now, I thought you were dead!" Grom said frantically as he started to push his way out of the woodpile.

" I wish I was." Bane said with a great emptyness in his soul before walking away through the village towards the mountains.

Grom was absolutely puzzled by what Bane just said. He struggled to escape the woodpile and started to run after Bane. However along the way he saw a large mound in the ground in front of the Temple. Grom slowly approached it and saw a small wooden plank sticking up from the ground. Small words covered it. Grom bent down to see them clearly, they read

" Here lies Sohtia, beloved father. He deserved a better life, a better death, and most of all, he desereved a better son."

Chapter 12 - I will return

"Oh..." Grom muttered, now he understood Bane's words.

Grom started to run after Bane through the storm. He could see him in the distance slowly walking through the village ruins. As Grom ran through the village he could see a few scattered bodies and their destroyed homes, the sight nearly made him vomit in disgust. He could see Bane stop near the center of the village. As Grom approached him he saw to his horror the rest of bodies.

" Dead..each and every one of them." Bane's emotionless voice broke the silence.

" How is this possible!?" Grom cried out through his gagging.

" I dont know." Bane said as he stared at the pile of bodies.

" Why would anyone do this?" Grom cried out again.

" I dont know." Bane said once more.

" Where are my parents and my sister?" Grom said quickly as he walked closer to the pile.

" I dont know you fat idiot!" Bane yelled in a sudden burst of anger.

Grom took several steps back, a concerned look on his face.

" Where were you when all this happened!? Did you just see the monsters come out of darkness and run to save your own skin like the coward you are!?" Bane snarled viciously

Grom was hurt by Bane's word, several tears came to his eyes as he looked into Banes cold, red tinted dark purple eyes.

" All you ever do is screw things up for me! Maybe if you had the bravery to fight maybe...*Bane stopped yelling and quieted his voice as tears began to flood his eyes* maybe my father would still be alive.."

" Bane its alright.." Grom said slowly.

" No its not alright! My father is dead..Your family is probably dead to! How can you say it is alright!?" Bane yelled at Grom, not in anger but in grief. "I never told him I loved him you know... not once did I ever tell him those simple words. I lived my entire life wishing I had a cooler dad, like yours. Now that he is gone I just want him back...I just want to tell him I love him..just once." Bane continued on as his voice began to break up as he started to burst into tears.

" Bane.." Grom said slowly as he touched Bane on his shoulder trying to comfort him.

Bane looked at Grom. Tears were in both of their eyes. Despite the great sadness and anger that Bane felt, in that moment he realized he still had one thing in this world, his best friend, Grom.

" I..I am sorry Grom." Bane said slowly trying to think of the right words to apoligize with.

Grom said nothing but instead gave Bane a smile, Bane knew he was forgiven.

The two dragons stood there for a little longer paying their final respects before Bane finally spoke.

"Before he died, my father told me to head into the mountains, I have to find some secret cave near the west peak. He said a great adventure awaits me. I could use your help." Bane mumbled so quietly Grom could barely hear him.

" Lets go." Grom replied, a serious look on his face.

Bane and Grom walked slowly through the village and out the main gate, Bane looked back one final time. He had lived there his entire life, all the people, all the memories, he once knew were gone. Never again would he awake to the sweet smell of food roasting over a open fire, never again would he feel the gentle breeze that drifted through the village, never again would he feel his father's warm touch on his face...never again. Bane's old life was gone forever.

" Goodbye. Someday I will return, and make you whole once more." Bane said softly as he gazed through the heavy rain towards his village, his home, his old life.

Chapter 12 - Reunion

Bane and Grom had been walking for a hour, the storm was beggening to calm down and sun began to shine through the dark clouds. Both dragons were trying to mentally recover from what they had seen earlier that day though their memories still haunted them. Bane was walking a small distance ahead of Grom, leading the way towards the distant, towering mountains. He had to reach the top of the west peak and find the secret cave that Sohtia said would reveal his destiny.

Bane and Grom soon found themselves standing at the edge of the forests. For their entire lives they had been taught that forest was evil, that dark spirits lurked within and that the souls of two dragons who had been murdered within it thirty years ago still haunted it. This was not the first time Bane had been inside the forest so he was not afraid but Grom stood several feet back shaking slightly.

" Come on Grom, we have to go through it." Bane said sternly

" Cant we just fly over it?" Grom asked nervously.

" We both know we cant fly over the entire forest, our wings are not strong enough yet." Bane replied a tad bit annoyed by Grom's cowardice.

" Ok fine, but if we get killed by some evil spirits I am blaming you!" Grom yelled back. Slowly he waddled up to Bane and followed him into the dark forest.

Bane was walking forward determinedly, only one thing on his mind. Grom was right behind shaking in his scales as his head turned back and forth searching the forest for any sign of trouble. They walked for half a hour before Bane suddenly stopped.

" What is it?" Grom asked quietly, lowering himself to ground like he was ready to pounce a small animal.

" Dont you hear that?" Bane said as he held his head high in the air.

" I dont hear anything.." Grom replied, still whispering.

Suddenly Bane bolted further into the forest with great speed leaving Grom behind.

" Hey! Wait up!" Grom called out to Bane as he tried to keep up with him. He could see Bane fading further and further into the forest. Soon he lost sight of him.

Grom looked around nervously as if something was about to attack him. Slowly Grom gathered his courage and began to run forward, hoping Bane had done the same.


" What is that noise!?" Bane growled lowly, he was beginning to get angry.

He heard a faint echo in his mind, like someone was trying to talk to him. The words were cryptic and hushed with the overbearing sound of what sounded like fighting. Bane followed the faint voices further and further into the forest. Soon he began to hear another sound with his own ears, the sound of screaming. He followed the sound to what looked like a clearing. He saw three large, humanoid figures surrounding a smaller figure, a dragon.

Bane lept into action. He rushed quickly into the fray launching himself onto the back of one of the creatures. He clawed savagely at its neck, a black liquid poured out. The monster grabbed Bane's head and threw him off, onto the hard ground. Bane's vision blurred but before he could even recover he found himself leaping onto another monster. This time he used his fire breath to singe its grotesque skin, it began to fall off like mold.

He then bit deeply into its neck causing the monster to its knees futiley trying to get Bane off. Within seconds the monster was dead and Bane looked for his next target. He saw one of the monsters fleeing quickly into the distance, the other was beating the other dragon savagely.

Bane's vision was finally starting to clear as he lunged at the monster's head, bring his sharp claws down on it's skull. He could feel a large crack as he tried to pull his claw out of the monsters head. Black liquid sprayed out onto Bane's face as the monster fell to the ground with a loud thud.

Bane calmed down and turned his attention to the injured dragon on the ground. It was a female with light blue scales, her eye crystal white eyes staring in Banes.

" Starfury?" Bane said slowly as he recognized her. Before another word could be said Bane could hear heavy footsteps behind him.

No Bane! Don't let that stuff get in you!!
