I found out some news from Spyro World that Elijah Wood has yet to lend his talent for the movie from an interview here:
http://insidemovies.moviefone....w-9-the-hobbit/
You voiced the titular dragon in the 'The Legend of Spyro' video game. Will you be lending your voice to the film adaptation as well?
You know, it's funny. People have mentioned that to me. I'm not attached to do that. I know that there's talk of that. I did the video game [laughs]. I don't know if I'll do that or not. It'd be fun to carry on the character, but I'm not officially attached to that yet.
Either Spyro will be voiced by another actor, or the film is on hold, we probably won't know until the time is right, and 2009 looks like it's the first year without some sort of Spyro installment.
I so want Elijah to voice Spyro in the movie!

Elijah Wood is currently working on Tim Burton's new film, due out on 9/9/2009. I saw it in the previews when I went to see District 9. <.<;

I like Elijah Wood for him. It's either that, the people who did Spyro in other games (who cares 'bout them), or someone else. Or, we could have Tom Kenny again .

Elijah doesn't have the power befitting a legendary hero like Spyro. Also, it seems to me like when Spyro is going through an emotional time which warrants a very convincing portrayal of that specific emotion, he sounds as though he could be saying something totally insignificant. We need someone who is better at putting emotion in his voice than Elijah Wood is.

What are you talking about, SpyroLUVA? Elijah Wood did put emotion in his voice as Spyro, and it hasn't been confirmed that he won't be voicing Spyro in the movie.

^But Mr. Wood is not trained in voice acting though, which isn't the same as acting.
Let's put it this way, acting on a stage or a camera, you have things you can work with in real time; props, actors, crew members, the audience, and orchestra (the last two being if you're on a stage and in a musical). You can see how the other actors and members emotions are, get more feel for your character, and be able to deliver a decent performance. Now with voice acting, it's a whole other ordeal. All you have is a script, a microphone, maybe some headphones, and probably two to twenty people around you watching you do your job. You have no idea what at times your voice is going to be used for, nor do any of your body and facial expressions improve the performance. Even long runners like Glen Close and Mel Brooks had problems with voice acting. It's not that it's a bad thing, it's just something you have to have a completely different understanding of. In my personal opinion upon from what I've played in ANB, I found Gary Oldman's voice to be rather dry and unsettling considering the character he's voicing when compared to the other VAs of the guardians. Mr. Spade's performance was okay, but it could have used a bit more of bruva and comedic tone to make the situations that were supposed to be funny actually be laughable. |

Listen, all we know that Elijah Wood is not called up to voice as Spyro in the flim. Maybe the voicing might take place near the ending of the production process, or maybe in the middle of the flim while lip-syncing was being worked on (like placeholder voices, so that animators can lip-sync the characters' lips properly before the actual voice actors do their job). There's still a chance that he may retake his role as the voice of Spyro... and if not, what kind of voice actor would closely resemble the voice of the legend version of Spyro?
Right now, the news about Spyro remained slient or quiet at this time. Maybe next year is the time to reveal those hidden notes. |

I have to ask, will Elija be dong the next game? I think I heard somewhere that his contract with Sierra said he only had to do three games, and that he was not obligated to do anymore. Do you think he'll be returning as Spyro in the next game?

Tom Kenny would be good for it.
Jess Harnell was a little too... squeaky for it. (Although I do like him.) And Elijah Wood sounds like a traitor. How hard would it be to do a movie? Course I wouldn't know, I haven't done a game or movie voice. Also, I'm actually hoping this movie comes out. I watched Garfield Gets Real today. That was the worst movie I've ever seen, next to Hoodwinked. But I did notice that the AC has some potential, if given the right movie for making. Garfield failed because they tried to stick to a comic-like appearence, I think. Then again I could be wrong... I wish they'd make a movie on the old series, with the same stories but with better graphics. Tom Kenny would be awesome for that...

I don't really want Spyro to sound like Spongebob. But maybe he'd do good. There can be suprises.
However I just played Xiaolin Showdown. Wayne Knight played Dojo in the series. (And did a very good job). But Paul Rugg did Dojo for the video game and it kinda sucked. You know the voice of Mr. Director is so annoying.
