You said it when we were discussing TEN a while back....

I didn't say I don't trust them. I follow my own opinion, and judge things myself. But I tend to use critical reviews as an outline, especially when the decision tends to be unanimous.

The only critics I don't trust is X-Play, seeing how they constantly nit-pick things and make a score based on that.

I know a few kids who are looking forward to Skylanders...they don't seem bad...but with every yin there is a yang and there's bound to be bad apples in the crowd that ruin it for everybody else.

My brother who is ten and my sister who's eight, both not on the forum, saw Spyro's pic on SSA and said,

Not really. A lot of people that are complaining about Skylanders are Classic Loyalists, meaning that they were old enough to play and remember Classic Spyro. Therefore, most people complaining are between the ages of 16-23. Sad isn't it?

I actually don't care about Skylanders anymore. Yesterday's big game announcement just knocked it off the list of games I am interested in.

It wouldn't really knock it off for me. I'm actually more excited in this than the new Sonic game. Maybe it's because I know more details.

It's not just Sonic that I'm excited for....and they put subtle little hints in the trailer regarding the gameplay....the Modern Sonic is definitely gonna play like Unleashed's day stages/Sonic Colours...

Also, I think the idea should of been done with Spyro.....while it's more INTERESTING with Sonic, it makes more SENSE with Spyro...

....But yeah, Skylanders looks like a generic romp to me anyway... I lost interest before Sonic Generations came....

I'm a bit confused to this. Can you please elaborate?

It makes more sense to put Classic and LoS Spyro(and now, Skylanders Spyro) in the same game as they are literally different characters.

But Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic are confirmed to be from the same continium(unless the Classic Sonic in Sonic Generations is actually Archie Sonic....which is doubtful, as he looks a bit different anyway). So it makes less sense, and let's not forget the design difference is not as drastic as with the different Spyros. Either time travel is incorporated into the plot, or the game doesn't have one, and is literally just a remix of various Sonic levels, as was rumoured a while ago.

However, the concept of two Sonics is more interesting to me than two Spyros for two reasons(that's a lot of twos!)

1) Sonic was a silent protagonist in the Classics. So he likely won't talk, but the Modern Sonic will, which could be interesting.

2) Classic Spyro and LoS Spyro clearly have different abilities, so it's easy to see what they would do gameplay wise. However, there isn't really much difference between the two Sonics. So I'm wondering what the difference in gameplay is.....I think just splitting it between Genesis style and Unleashed/Colours style would be lackluster...maybe they will build off of the Co-Op concept from Sonic Colours?

I see what you're getting at now, and it would be an interesting thing. But for it to happen, Insomniac and Krome/EL would have to work together. Insomniac refuses to make Spyro games, Krome is shut down, and EL is working on something else. So it's impossible. At least with Sonic it's the same developer that has been working on the games for the entire 20 years the franchise has existed.

Sure, it's the same company working on Sonic, but hardly anyone who worked on the Genesis games is still at Sega or Sonic Team. So it is technically different developers.

And Isomniac, Krome and EL have never owned Spyro, so there should not be an issue of copyright infringement.

But yeah, it would never happen with Spyro. It's not impossible, but Activision wouldn't do it....I would of preferred it to the Skylanders concept though.

It's different staff, but it's the same developer technically (Sonic Team). It's not like it completely changed and that Dimps is developing it. It's Sonic Team. And they have been working on the more recent Sonic games. It's kinda why I'm afraid for the game.

I wasn't talking about copyright. I was talking more about development itself. We all know that nobody will ever be able to develop the same games that Insomniac did. And chances are the same will apply to how nobody can duplicate Krome/EL. For it to be the core game everyone would want, they would have to develop it themselves. You know what I mean?

Meh, I'm not picky about developers most of the time. I think Sonic Team are a great developer. The only really bad game was Sonic 06. And their non-Sonic games are very good, from what I hear(haven't played many myself).

Same with Spyro. I don't think it's impossible to make a Spyro game better than the Insomniac games(AHT might of done it for me, I'll need to play it again. LoS is basically on par with them, IMO).

To me, Sonic Team is a crap developer that only now are just starting to redeem themselves. Dimps is the better developer when it comes to Sonic games.

To be honest I judged it at first but now that I took a better look at the gameplay it actually looks like a pretty fun game.

I'm only saying that 'cause the wii is the only system I have that the game will be released for. My 360 broke a long time ago.

I want all of the dragon characters but I'm kinda confused.......Does the game come w/ any of the charactor toys or do you buy them seperately?

You have to buy the other toys separately. The starter pack contains only Gill Grunt, Spyro, and Trigger Happy.

Lol...My mom is kinda weird. Half the time I wonder if she can tell good from evil. To me Spyro is cute in this game. The sad part is though that she might not let me get the game cause she thinks spyro is ugly. Im just about ready to cry I did tell her that looks can be deceiving.

I'm not really sure how to describe what I feel about Skylanders! Spyro. He's... kinda ugly, but kinda cute, too. Cute in a monster-ish kind of way? Yeah, I guess you can say that. But I don't hate him.

Anyway, I may very well buy Skylanders, though I'm not sure if I will right away. $70 is a lot for me, but I think buying that starter pack would be cheaper than buying everything separate. I really like the concept, actually--especially how the toys act as "memory cards", and how all your progress will stay on the toy and you can use that toy even on another console, and it'll keep all the progress.

So, I guess you can say I'm a fan of Skylanders. But of course, I can't make that thought final until I actually play the game.xD

I'm not going to buy it right away either. Unless of course my dad buys it for my B-day which is what hes been talking about. If not then I'm going to wait a few months before I buy it. I also think that he's cute in a weird kinda way. Also the memory is stoered in the toys? I did not know that. And I also didn't know that the toys can go around to different consoles....That's pretty cool!
