So, a drawing didn't even win? Like it's cool how they made a figure but... the parts are really boring... just being honest.

The parts are boring because it was poorly put into the game. There's a lot more detail in the figure than what they actually included, and the artist provided more than enough pictures for them to get it right. ESPECIALLY the face, making eyes that don't look horrifying shouldn't be so hard.

Since when is clay sculpture < drawing??? A clay sculpture has a lot more effort put into it than a simple drawing, no matter how complex said drawing is.

Im happy they choose someone who created a figure instead of simply drawing his character, really shows the effort put into it.

Wish they kept his weapon's look though; the axe is cool but not as much as the original.
It's also a very big pity he cannot be a proper Swashbuckler without removing his legs.

They also shown some really interesting Water powers in the video, nice stuff indeed!

Also on another note: stop saying that theguy who sculpted his took more effort or did more than us. Seriously that's really hurtful. My boyfriend went through probably 30 ideas before drawing out his final one. I mean going in, rendering and sketching and designing. As did I, and I painted mine after.

Someone might be good at something and not at something else. The sculpture guy might be better at sculpting than drawing, which would mean it's actually easier for him to make look better.

I know maybe you're talking about someone who scribbled theirs out but it seems like all of the finalists and even most of the entries tried really hard for their artistic levels.

I know about the effort and how it's apples and oranges, OnionCakes, but that's the only way I'm getting through the whole 'oh anyone could've done this' sentiment with so many implying they're salty. I do both drawing and sculpting and struggle with both as much as I get good results, and the guy went the extra way to do both a drawn reference and a figure. I wouldn't have voted for him tbh, others including yours and your boyfriend's tried a lot more when it came to shape over the archetype, but they weren't really looking for ability in character design from the looks of it.

Oh, I'm not knocking any artist who handdrew their entry, I'm just saying that the entry that won was pretty cool and a lot of effort was put in it!

I am an artist myself and I adore anyone who has the talent and the patience to pull off a runner up entry in this.

I'm talking about commenter here. I am also a sculptor and a digital sculptor. But saying only they put alot of effort into something is hurtful.

Which commenter? I wasn't looking at the comments on twitter/fb/instagram, since usually they're pretty low effort.

Everyone put a lot of effort(usually at the least), the difference is in what the judges wanted.

To be honest, I was voting for either The winner, or Pumpkin Hatch.

Congrats to the winner and it was cool seeing everyone's different ideas for their a Skylander.

I honestly forgot about this contest. Glad to hear that there's another one around the corner.

Congrats to all the members on here who made it into the finals! Be sure to post some pictures of your Starter Packs when you receive them.

Is this contest going to be another Imaginator-related won? I kinda doubt that considering it's so close to the game's release now, but just thought I'd ask.

Kind of disappointed that the winner's a Zoo Lou look-alike, but at least it isn't a human. (It might just be me, but the fact they're both bears with the same pallet is kind of odd.)

This feels really scumy on Activision behalf, the kitty ears are a really generic part and they got it wrong, not to mention the most recognizable part, the weapon that looks nowhere near to the original and there is no reason for this, I feel bad for Joshua, his personal design was changed to match the imaginator pieces they already had.

Yep, he is.
But he came from the same people who consider Freeze Blade and Scratch to be cats and Stink Bomb to be a skunk (and I dare you to understand which animal he is without seeing the tail), so not that surprising.

Burrbearian does share some similarities with him, though, didn't noticed it.

I thought Zoo Lou was a sloth at first, but his bio says he's a bear.

After looking at the actual figure and the in-game screenshot, I actually blame TFB/Activision for it looking like Zoo Lou. They changed the anatomy and the colors, plus changed the weapon. The original looks a lot less like Zoo Lou than the Activision version.

I'm pretty sure he included a drawing of the character with his entry too. Watch the video again, he definitely has drawn reference material

The devs just chose to use the clay model instead of the picture version.
