There are two sides to that statement though. The price for this game is significantly higher than that of other games. Also, Spyro isn't the only series in existance. There are other franchises I like that have much more interesting games coming soon, and I also have LBP2 at the moment.

Look, I'm sure the game will get attention from all the kiddies. It will probably be a fad in some communities. So I wouldn't worry about how much income the game rakes in.

The MAIN thing I'm worrying about is gameplay, because that is what will save his life. If the game isn't good but sells well, Activision won't care. Spyro will become the kids Call of Duty - the games will sell a ton, but they won't evolve or get better, and the series will be constantly bashed.

The game is pretty much guaranteed to sell well.
1) It's a "Spyro" game. People will recognise the name.
2) It's fad material.....fads make money.
3) Activision seem set on getting this game some attenetion.
4) Not only do Activision have the game itself to make money off of, but they also have the toys and trading cards.

Everything about this game has impressed me to some extent so far:

Great Graphics
Hollywood Talent
Interesting Concept

....except gameplay. The gameplay looks dull. It's just like Call of Duty. Everything is nice about Call of Duty EXCEPT the mediocre gameplay.

A starter pack is $70 USD, only $10 USD more than the standard price of a game. Since action figures would cost $7 USD, 3 figures would be $21 USD. It's actually a bargain price, and you save money.

Yes, but you have to pay for new characters.

And don't tell me that I can complete it as just Spyro, I know that. But having extra characters adds variety, and I should have them on my disc, at least as unlockables.

So the price for the FULL experience is much bigger than that of an average game. LBP2 cost me 45 euro, and it's going to last me a life time.
Skylanders.....I doubt it will last me that long, IF I get it.

Well I just told you. And why complain about buying them if you want variety. You can get it. It's exactly like buying DLC for a game. But nobody complains about that crap. Look at Marvel vs. Capcom 3. The exact day it was released, they also released extra characters as DLC. I haven't seen that many people complain outside of 2 people.

That's different, as MVC 3 already has a ton of characters on the disc. Skylanders doesn't have ANY characters that are accessible with just the disc.

It's clear that the toy concept is just to make extra money. It wasn't made with any thought for the basic principles of making a game. When I buy a disc, I expect to be able to use at least one character.

The new characters are like DLC for XBox and PS3. Its optinal.

No, you actually have to have a toy on the portal to play. Watch the demo videos. Taking a toy off it is like plugging out the controller.

I know you get three toys with the starte pack, but so far, none of the characters look interesting. Not even Spyro looks that fun to play as.

Some of those haters are picky on the type of Spyro they want, obviously. They're also picky on Spyro's character design too.

Heck, they said the same thing when LoS spyro appeared, now they're doing the same to Skylanders Spyro like LoS was "so last year" or something.

We all know Activision doesn't care about what they say. As I have said before, only bother with haters if they try to annoy you on a personal level, like this:
"Hey, Aura24, you're an absolute ***** for liking Skylanders!!11!!"(not my real thoughts on you, just an example! :3)

I know, I have too. But that and hating on fan topics are the only things that I would find unacceptable. They are entitled to express hate on hate topics though, or "opinion" topics.

It's ok for them to share an opinion. And we have the right to object and question their opinion. That's why it's ok for them to complain and boycott the design just because of the design. But we have the right to ask "why is it that important?". But apparently they don't want to respect our opinion, nor do they want to answer that question. So why should we respect their opinion?

Might as well have a say in this. I'm not too afraid about the new Skylanders fanbase, but the one thing I could not stand right now is how most of the Spyro fanbase keeps *****ing about the new Spyro game. I'm also a victim of liking Spyro's new design and getting picked on for it. <.<

Some of the Classic fans are just too blind to realize that Skylanders is the classic Spyro game we've been waiting for. I discussed about this issue to some friends over at DeviantArt and talking to a member over at another forum site I go to since he/she is thinking about getting this game. Even they think the fanbase is really ridiculous right now.

Since the game's almost in completion, there's seriously nothing they can do now to stop Activision from making it. They'll just have to live with it and if they hate it, don't buy it. Simple as that. :/

I have been talking to my friends IRL about the game, not the fanbase. They pretty much feel the same as me about it.

I haven't talked to anyone about it IRL, since I'm the only person I know that has an intrest in Spyro. I did talk to my little brother, and while he was skeptical at first, he got interested and said it could work, and he would like to try it out if I get it. He also got excited when I told him Hans Zimmer was composing. He loves the music of Modern Warfare 2.

I talk with my husband about it a bit and he's actually quite in favor of Skylanders. He's not a Spyro fan at all and he despises LoS (he liked the first Insomniac game, which is the only one I've ever gotten him to play). He thinks goblin Spyro is interesting, likes the idea of Hans Zimmer doing the music, and thinks the general negative response from the fans is hilariously stupid.

One of my friends think's the fanbase is being stupid, and says it reminds him of how fans reacted to Sonic 4.
He had Spyro 2, 3 and ETD as a kid and loved them(except ETD, he didn't finish that).
He tried TEN and DotD in my house and enjoyed them. He's thinking on borrowing TEN from me.

He's more negative towards Skylanders than I am. He thinks it's trying to be like Pokemon and that Activision are going to pull a stunt that will prevent the game from greatness.

I've not been in a fanbase before this one that's acted like this (though I know it happens), but I'm with you guys on this one: I think the fanbase is being incredibly stupid. My prediction from day one about a lot of them turning around and warming up to this game is already coming true, too.

It's kinda like Pokemon though..... B/W comes out, everyone is 'bawwww the new starters suck!!11' and now they're some of the most popular starters out.

The only other fanbase I've ever been a part of was the Sonic fanbase, and I wasn't around to see people complain about Sonic 4. I noticed it about a month after it first started. My initial response:

"Grow the **** up."

It happend with Sonic 4, and there is no doubt in my mind it will happen here.
