Knowing Activision, I expect to get a remaster or something several years down the line before the series likely goes dark again, but if we don't see an actual new game this year (As in, not the mobile game but an actual console game), Skylanders is probably dead for the time being.

Man, I know people haven't always agreed with you on things in the past, but I do here. This took guts to say, and I respect that.

As for my 2 cents on the series, I feel as if it will become entirely dependant on Academy. And when Academy ends, it will just slowly die with it. I could see Spyro getting his own games though, with maybe some easter eggs to the other Skylanders scattered throughout them.

In an ideal world, we would get a tie-in game, with a few figures of the main characters.

I'm still expecting a series with just toys and cartoons when Academy is over with. Has anyone seen the images for the new TMNT series? I didn't expect that to happen as I thought the prior series was going strong. New Total Drama series as well but as babies. So perhaps a new reboot and re-imagine of the Skylanders franchise...baby Skylanders drawn in an ugly style. LOL

How long was there between the original Guitar Hero finishing and the reboot?

I can't see Activision not wanting to cash in on Skylanders at some point in the next 5 years unless they come up with new game/s that are real winners. I also can't see any new games involving actual physical toys.

But I'm saying Skylanders will be back in some shape or form by December 2023.

You want to get hyped Zap. You want to believe. It's ok I understand you must have been hurt in the past. But it's ok to put yourself out there again. You're among friends here. Well except for SkyFan91, but nobody pays attention to that guy.

But seriously Activision will make a Skylanders grab for cash in the next 5 years that will be non-toy based and quite possibly rubbish. You can keep me to that. If they don't then I'll eat an Eruptor.

actually I took what Miyamoto said about F-Zero as "we don't want to do another F-Zero unless we can cram some asinine gimmick into it that will largely just enrage the core fans of the series". the only thing they really need to bring into it is online races, especially if they can do a full 30 player grid like in single player GPs....but as we all know, Nintendo still hasn't remotely begun to understand how online multiplayer works

as for the future of Skylanders...I'm worried we won't see much more, but I have hope for at least 1 more console game ( with or without new toys, I really don't care...just want more of that console Skylanders gameplay ) as well as another couple seasons of Academy. hopefully they'll finally give us some info on the mobile RPG soon at least...also hoping for an original Spyro trilogy remaster, and multiplatform too ( I at least want the option to either earn achievements & use what IMO is the best controller or play on Switch & take the games anywhere )

i can't wait for Skylanders Live, where eruptor gains full access to your bank account's history and tells you how much money you've spent on the franchise in real time

Activision will NEVER just let something like this go, there will eventually be another Skylanders game. The game was too popular for it to simply fade away into the darkness like this without any fanfare. If Activision was truly done with the franchise then neither the Menchies or Burger King Promo would have happened.

COD is moving to a 2 year release cycle most likely.
Destiny is on a 3 year release cycle.
Crash, if the rumors are true, will be on a 2 year release cycle.

Skylanders, may too be on that same release cycle.

The mobile game was likely cancelled IMHO, I'd like to think in favor of Skylanders 7.

We know TFB is working on something that uses the same development tools as Skylanders + the Unreal Engine.

The stars may not be aligning into the perfect syzygy that I'm seeing, but something is coming from TFB soon.

Maybe it's Crash 2019, maybe it's the Spyro remake, or maybe, just maybe, it happens to be Skylanders 7.

We will most likely know tomorrow.

If I've been wrong about this all along, feel free to rub it in my face, because if I'm right and you guys have all been dragging this community down for nothing for the past year, then you can be sure I'm going to rub it in every single one of your faces.

Well if anyone here knows anyone at Activision please tell them that last night, after years of trying, I finally got all 3 stars on Swap Force Kaos' Mum and Super Evil Kaos levels. So now that I have completed every single Skylanders game I am ready for of Skylanders 7. Please let them know that they can proceed with the release.

Not entirely sure tomorrow will actually reveal something, either for Skylanders or Spyro, but I’m surely keeping my fingers crossed just in case we do get any kind of information.

Not going to join this discussion until more official news are revealed, though.
Not because I’ve lost interest in the series, not at all, but because the negativity (not realism, as many believe it to be) going around here since the release of the last Imaginators figures have reached levels where even the trolls aren’t funny anymore.
Especially when the ones talking about the end of the franchise as if it were a fact are also ignoring real objective informations, such as the upcoming mobile game and the next Academy season.

So count on me whenever anything good or bad is said and confirmed, I’ll gladly express my opinion hoping that it will be excited speculation and not a sad consideration.

I do want to say I agree with HeyitsHotDog and the others who believe they purposedly skipped a year, moreso since I think Activision considered N. Sane Trilogy to act as a replacement for Skylanders last year, as dumb as it may sound.
More DLCs for Imaginators would have helped, but I wasn’t shocked when they announced no new game in 2017.

I hope for the best for all franchises so every fanbase can live in peace. I sincerely hope we get the confirmation of Skylanders 7. This day has been anticipated throughout the fanbase to find out what the future is of our favourite franchise. It's all been leading to this and if it gets confirmed, I hope everyone here on the forums can put our differences behind us and interact to eachother as a community as we speculate what the next Skylanders game will be! Whether it's made by TFB or my preferred devs VV, I'll be very greatful and thankful that we're getting a new Skylanders game! I hope for the best and hopefully the best outcome is confirmed for all Skylanders fans!
