Why are we talking about page old discussions again?

And yes, it appears to confirm that there are actually only 18 skylanders and 18 vehicles that aren't crossover, and to complete the game AS FAR AS WE KNOW we just need 1 guy and 3 vehicles. Still iffed that the crossovers are starter pack exclusive, and that Digital Owners are probably getting Spitfire instead of Donkey Kong(not that I want him, but still).

Simple...its a video game...there not driving them...YOU are.

So, basically, as long as you keep one of your Starter Pack skylanders alive, you can mod any vehicle, right? Kind of an odd distinction to make when you've provided the key to that gate in the pack.

Then again, it was very possible to get almost everything in Giants with just Tree Rex, nothing we haven't seen before.

Dude its a microchip, not electricity, they are made for kids and they would tend to out them in wAter,
Skykids did that and it killed the chip on one but others that were dunked still worked

It says on the starter box that they are not waterproof.

Yeah. While I'm completely confident that the RFID chips can't hold even a remotely powerful charge, I wouldn't advise actually sticking them in water.

They are certainly more overshadowed than ever but they may still have Quests, Bonus Missions and other special features.

I would just really appreciate if they could start talking about those aspects of the game since the more they talk about revamps, Skymiibos and "vehicle fantasy" the more I wish it was next year already.

Not news, but interesting nontheless. There's a video on that Toy Fair that happened this weekend where the packagings were found, but unlike Comic-Con, they actually covered the back of the Starter Pack with Wildfire's bio(I actually think they took a page from one of the comics since it's formatted the same way). Too late to fix that leak,Acti.

Less powerful? Often yes, but useless? No. This series is easy, aside from Nightmare mode. Any of the characters are good enough to be useful to navigate along through the main campaign in the standard difficulty.

What I want to know is if pvp is returning. Not racing but battle mode.

You know, I was browsing through some old articles for nostalgia sake and I was reminded of how PvP was originally one of the big selling points of the Skylanders concept during SSA's pre-release period, with them going on about how kids could train their Skylanders and then bring them over to a friend's house to battle against their friend's Skylanders. It's weird how much things have changed that they'd eventually end up dropping that component.

I hate to repeat the same things over again but they apparently moved away quite consistently from what their original concept was.
A fantasy RPG-esque hack and slash dungeon crawler where the focus is the variety of characters and their unique playstyles.

Skymiibos are also another consequence of this change: if you have a PS4 and I have a Wii U I simply cannot play as my Donkey Kong or Bowser on your console.

The number of characters isn't an excuse: I doubt one would have taken his whole collection to a friend's house even during SA times.
As always it's a matter of choice.

Stop complaining about Bowser and DK being Nintendo consoles only. It's obvious why and anyone whining about it must be brain dead.

I have no idea what they're trying to do with Skylanders. They're introducing new mechanics whilst dropping old mechanics, but they rarely keep the new mechanics and if they do, they don't improve them.

Hey now, be nice. Though I do agree partly, compaining about the Bowser and DK thing us annoying and pointless. Besides, Skylanders originally tried to be a nintendo exclusive if I remember right, but Nintendo turned it down.

Well, they did keep the jumping, and improved it with the ability to use attacks (some unique, with the Trap Masters) while jumping.

I doubt Skylanders is ever going to become a platformer, though.

No news these days though, not even previews. Gaming sites seem to have latched on the Single Pack Dark Bowser rumor like glue, and new videos on it seem to be just compilations and shady channels reposting popular youtubers.

I'm not questioning their choice to make them console exclusive (which as you said it's obvious) but the choice to make two Skylanders the knew would have been console exclusives in the first place.

It ruins one of the biggest aspects of the series: universal compatibility.
What's next, level exclusives, like Infinity...?

On a technicality we should have a large chunk of info being released with under two months til launch. It has happened with almost every game of the series, but since its out two months earlier than the norm then there could be possible issues with marketing or post-production. Hopefully its just a delay. I'd be happy with a full HD image of every character and vehicle and some minor game play of the new guys we can play as.

Gamescom is around the corner. I'm sure there'll be more info there.

I expect the most of it to be around august.

...Huh, old gameplay from GameXplain again, but in a really nice quality. Is it me or the announcer was given a few filters? He sounds way raspier and less excited than in previous ones. Just hope they don't bring back the half-asleep announcer from SF like it's an improvement, god that was disappointing to hear while watching PVP videos.
It also confirms that Supercharged mods stay forever(or at least during the level) until edited. They took Bowser out and put DK in and they didn't even get announced despite the changes.

New mod names,announced and everything! Yup, this guy is sounding brain dead now for some reason.

Yeah, you can really tell how much love was put into every detail of both Hammer Slam Bowser and Turbo Charge Donkey Kong (and their respective vehicles). They're so good! :)
