Well, they could also make the new Portal (if there's a new one) compatible with traps.

Yes, I agree, villains are better with a timer, but, following that game's logic, they should all have abilities that can effect the gameplay even after they are gone.

Some of them are already like this (Shield Shredder, Broccoli Guy, Rage Mage, Slobber Trap, Chill Bill and so on), but other ones would just need a few tweaks to work that way.
For example, Chef Pepper Jack's peppers could stay even after he's gone, and could also leave a pool of lava, or Wolfgang's notes could continue to affect enemies.

I tried his giant blade thing in a level, tagged out, and tried to see if it could be used for cover against enemies. Well, Lob star could attack out, but the enemies couldn't get him! Also, I'm playing on the Wii U version.

I hope this is some other game or a new online multiplayer mode. Because I probably wouldn't wan't to play if this fps is all. I like fps, but it just wouldn't feel like a true skylanders game

Being that it's VV and the look of it, the odds are it really is the next mobile game. VV has done all the previous ones and there hasn't been a new one since battlegrounds.

just cool down guys, its a side game and not the main game. this side game will be a part of sky5 online gaming. as we have seen before in skylanders games. there is always side games as arenas and challenges etc.

I'm not sure we know one way or another. Not that I think you're wrong...we simply don't know. I suspect the 3DS online experiment this go round could be part of the technology they're slowly building up.

I think this is their answer to pvz garden warfare, which is a brilliant move on their part. Hopefully on consoles as well if it's fully featured.

Probably better to say speculation. Everything above is a reasonable guess based on observation. About the only thing we know for sure is that it's new content and is skylanders related.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but on the sheet of paper with the controls, you can kind of see the logo on that as well, which makes me believe this is a stand alone game and not just a mini-game. I can make out the sheep below the logo on it. Sorry it's hard to see, but I just have to show this.

Spin-off like Battlegrounds but available to download on consoles too, not just mobile. Code to download it for free included in Sky 5 Starter Pack? Like, the main game does not have online, but the spin-off does. Maybe it could be accessed from the main game after you purchase it?

How could it be too much? It's not like it would be the same genre of game. They've done it several times before either Pokemon spin offs and mario spinoffs.

It would only benefit the company to produce a simple spinoff game to help maintain some decent sales before the next story game with Most gamers forgetting about skylanders after Easter.
If another leaked image appears soon, I'm knda hoping for this. Even if it is just a new app, they're still pretty useful to advertise in a lull, especially if the game can be sold with a starter pack.

And Producing spinoffs, is probably a good way to stay ahead of Disney infinite, which they know they have to fight for this year with star wars in the next game.

Yep, same here. I don't want to buy more figures and I would just like to use the ones I already have, because there's too many figures/characters to choose from now.
Also, another interesting thing to note is that the developers don't seem to be using any figures or a portal for this game. That might just be because it's early in development and they're just testing it out, but maybe we won't need to use figures for this new game. I'm not sure.
