I can't remember how the N. Sane Trilogy's preorder bonuses were - if there were card sets or what they looked like - but I honestly believe that those are placeholder images. Taking the outdated covers and slapping them onto a card with a huge black border seems way too lazy for what it is. Though, I those are the same cover images that are on Spyro's website, so I could be wrong. Either way, remade covers will probably be shown closer to the release date if they're a thing, which I hope is the case. As much as I love the original covers, they need to be updated, if only because Spyro has an entirely new design now.

It's still another coin and a bunch of cards you can get printed anywhere, unless they have other artwork too. Even if a Switch/PC version gets announced, I'll pass on that preorder.

My kind of preorder would be books,soundtracks,plushies,physical products are cooler..

I don't know what I would specifically ask for, but it should be something that the merch won't do a thousand times better. We already know Numskull will release a Spyro mug, isn't that+buying the game the day or the day after even better than preordering and risking the game not actually showing up at your door as it's happened in a few stores?

Even an elaborate keychain or that purple egg would be a bit better.

To me it’s not as much a matter of superior quality, but rather of bonuses being cheaper and smaller than the currently known merchandise.

I’d love to see small and simplier figures of gems, crystallized dragons, various NPCs and enemies, recurring objects and items or even Spyro himself.
I’m happy for the hardcore collectors out there, but I think many would like more accessible merchandise besides mugs, shirts and other useful stuff.

I mean, they could even make actual artwork cards and we'd have official art for enemies and whatnot, fix what Spyro Orange ruined so long ago.

Just found this video, thanks to a Spyro Reddit post, where it shows that the Magic Crafters’ Balloonist will take you directly to one of the levels containing an Egg Thief in case you were still missing any by then (and would only suggest you to check the nearby Wizard Peak’s portal, instead):

20 years and I’ve never seen this line of dialogue because I’d always collect everything before moving onto the next Homeworld.
WOW.

And apparently there is a similar feature in Gateway to Glimmer, where Elora will take you directly in front of certain portals.
The closest thing I remember to that is being warped in front of bosses’ arenas after returning to the Homeworld.

Wonder if TfB knows about these features.

Paul Yan wasn't kidding when he said the trilogy was ahead of its time on collectathons. That's one helluva quality of life adjustment.

Yup, it’s only looking back at what we had back then and what we managed to achieve now that one realizes how much pioneristic Insomniac was at those times.
This is only yet another reason to say the Classic Spyro trilogy will never truly feel old to me.

I was aware of Elora showing you undiscovered portals. I think she says: "Would you like me to take you to a world where you can find a new talisman?" Or something similar.

I never knew about the balloonist though. Pretty amazing knowing this after all these years...

So, Activision is doing their conference call this Thursday at 4:30 PM.
Perhaps they might release some b-roll or a least a bunch of new screenshots, or even simply talk about the game a bit.

Might explain why we haven’t got new stuff in a while.

Lovely aesthetic. Shame some people are taking the tweet as TFB ignoring their requests to change things, though. These screenshots were planned weeks in advance, guys.

Yup, and even if they didn’t change anything this would still remain an impressive work, if anything for how faithful the level design looks from this and the other screenshot.

Finally found a way to add the proper images, took way more than I expected:





Still think a bit of pink mist and lighter rock would do wonders to the overall aesthetic, but the sky even if “blander” is gorgeous.

I think they might be building the level off of Alpine Ridge's assets, now that I think about it? It's giving me huge Swiss Alps vibes, while the original just looked like a cliff face. Pink mist would do wonders though, especially to tell both levels apart.

Exactly, and I do agree on mountains giving off an alpine vibe (same goes for the ones in Magic Crafters, from the few images we got of it).

Alpine Ridge will most likely have warmer lighting and skybox, but as of now all three levels have a very similar feeling, while in the original games even the mountais were different either in color or texture.
Some pink mist here and a pinkish sky in Magic Crafters would help telling the two levels apart immensely, in my opinion.

Blowhard is basically spot-on, but I’m intrigued by the trailer showing both clear and snowy weather.
Maybe it’ll start snowing as you get closer to the top?

This is why we need gameplay. Comparisons and closeups in gifs are nice, but ingame content would be nice right about now e_e

That’d be sweet, but it looks more and more like we’ll have to wait E3 to actually have an idea of how the game plays.

Also, just want to re-post Twilight Harbor’s image for two reasons:
- this time is a comparison, so you can actually see how awesome it looks compared to the original, especially in terms of sky-box;
- it’s one of the last levels, which means they probably worked on it later than the levels we got official screenshots of and thus could give us a better glimpse on a finalized work.





Kinda sad to see supposedly huge fans bashing TfB and their efforts just because the game isn’t an exact copy of the original.
Guess they’ll play both at the same time on two different screens to complain live.

Seems like every screenshot has some weird filter applied to them.

That might be concept art though? Hard to see from a computer screen, but it looks a bit flat.

I love TfB's work so far. I still think it's a better remake as VV did with Crash N.Sane Trilogy. It is still great, but I prefer TfB's more original work instead of an graphically update like VV did.

I'm really loving the unique twist that Toys For Bob is taking with the design of the buildings in comparison to how Artisans looks. They looked different in the originals, but now those differences are emphasized even further with the direction they're taking, at least in my opinion. Adding snow and ice everywhere helps a lot with that as well.

While I agree that making the mist pink mist would be nice, I still think it looks really good as is. I kind of want to see Alpine Ridge before I say whether or not I'd really want it to be changed? Maybe that level could have other changes that would help differentiate it from High Caves on its own, similar to how Blowhard seemingly stands out.

Part of me still wishes TfB stuck with an even mor faithful approach like V.V. did, but seeing the results of their own reinterpretation I simply can’t wait to play the games and see how great the rest of the trilogy looks.
There is just passion coming out of every asset, similarly to how Crash was handled by the other team.

Activision’s financial report did evidenced how the preorders exceeded expectations, which I think is quite an accomplishment after N. Sane Trilogy’s success.
I think we are in for another hit, this Fall!

The creator of Spyro: Myths Awaken seems to have a huge beef against the Reignited Trilogy. He hates the colors, for example.

It's good, in fact feels solid, but the fact that it's a new take on Red and Blue for Pokemon Switch nearly kills it for me. I highly doubt Game Freak would do that.

Hm, half is fishy, but half is actually very likely becauze those are the releases Nintendo is more or less leaving to E3.

Spyro in Smash, whewf. I'd have to start doing some emergency art commissions to get the game AND Smash AND save up enough for Pokémon and Bayo.

For example, I really wish Crash and Spyro would be in Smash bros for Switch, but something tells me that this might not happen. Especially since it also claims Captain Toad will be playable too. (How can he be a playable fighter? ) Also, while I am excited that maybe The whole Spyro Reignited Trilogy will be revealed for Switch and so will the new Pokemon, but I'm not too keen on the fact Virtual councel will not be here anymore so one part of me wishes it was fake.

Well, the only thing we can all do is wait and see, and hope all or at least some of this is real, For Spyro and Crash's sake.

Apparently. that was copied directly from 4chan, so it very well might be already guaranteed fake.

Ok, this makes me both confused and hopeful at the same time.

This is... perfection.
Original level from roughly the same perspective for comparison (less misty because I believe it’s from a level editor or viewer):



The screenshots are amazing, but this is beyond incredible.
All the important details, from a more colorful and varied sky, to the pinkish mist to the marbly rocks and mountains are there.

Now I doubt they would alter the final product that much compared to this, considering the architecture is basically the same, but as of now the level looks a lot different from the concept art.
So is that an unfinished or early look or did they change their mind for whatever reason?

Aaaaah, this is music to my ears!

To me, this pretty much means TfB know what they doing, despite all the people on Reddit and Twitter pretending to know more than experienced developers both in terms of time required for these fixes and their actual level of difficulty.

Of course some are already doubting these words, which makes sense considering how they absolutely didn’t do the same for Crash, last year.
Nope, not at all.

Toasty is probably the best idea we can have of a finished level at this point, since they said it was one of the first areas they started working on, and I have honestly nothing to say about it.
E3 might be a great time to showcase the improved colors and lighting.

Do you suppose Numskull will release the merch around E3?

I think it’s possible, especially if they are already working merchandise for the second game which is supposedly going to be revealed there.

They said they will reveal it in the next couple of weeks, but the actual release might have to wait a few months.

Yes. There's also the whole Wario and Waluigi are playable thing in Odyssey too. While Nintendo does like to surprise us from time to time. The odds of Wario and Waluigi being playable in a non Mario Party or Non Mario Sports game is really really low.

Nothing super exciting, but here's some good news none the less! This is good news for the possible continuation of the series after the Reignited Trilogy.
