Thanks for the info defpally! I will be ordering a few from Ikea. I like them for home storage. So they will get used here when I am home.
I walk over to play with a group at their house a lot with the figures so having a portable option is essential too, and the Stanley one will be great for that. I was using a tote bag and didn't want them to get wrecked.
finnsllc, they are $10 at Lowes issue is here they are discontinued in SC. Perhaps they aren't in other areas. They did not expect to get any new ones in and I got the last one yesterday.

Jain, it will take 5 of the Stanley cases above, to fit the entire collection for Giants, plus 8 Magical Items from the first game. That's if you decide to roll with them.
There is zero intrusion on these and you can keep everything consistent, if you saw all of the pics on my collection topic. I was able to keep the Magic together, Earth together, etc. Then, to fill the sixth slot in the pics you might have seen in my collection topic, I filled those with the other Magical Items, to give the whole thing a consistent look. I just can't believe I bought the cases that I said sucked for the first game's figures, due to the lack of those cases not having all slots filled.

Stanley Sortmasters are the ones I am using for the Giants collection. I use 3 Stanley Sortmaster Jr. cases for all 37 skylanders, 4 location items, and 8 magical items from Spyro's Adventure.
It takes 5 Sortmaster cases to house the entire Giants collection, with 2 slots saved for 8 magical items from the first game, but one slot in one of the 5 cases needs to house 2 ingame variants (by the way I have it set up). I have pics of all 5 cases and how I have everything set up in my collection topic of this board.

I used the Bulldog Hardware organizer that Crazyace had pics of... 6 of those perfectly hold ALL of the first game's characters, all of the Giants characters, as well as all of the adventure pack locations, magic items, variants/custom figs and card collection!! I highly recommend that box for anyone with a full collection from both games!!

Shroomy, can you take pics of all six cases, so I can see how they all fit? I take it each character has it's own slot, too, or are they cramped together?

One cool thing about those Stanley Sortmasters (as opposed to the Jr.) are that the spaces are very deep. I bought one a while back (a few years ago, they didn't have the Jr. that I saw) so my son could keep his Lego mini-figs and special pieces sorted out. It worked out terribly for that and I returned it, because the depth of the pockets - but for Skylanders, you should be able to stand them all up (minus Giants, of course). The Ikea ones require some to be laid down, like Stealth Elf that has to be laid face down because of her ponytail. Of course, if you plan on carrying them with you places, standing them up might not work out so well either.

Yes, each character has its own slot (minus the front 2 slots that are big enough for three figures; I keep two in each of those slots)- the only thing I combined were the small sized Magic Items... Here are some photos of the outside/labeling, inside arial and side angle views of one of the storage boxes. This is one of the Giants cases, the two Giants being Reg & Gnarly Tree Rex, and the Giants/S2 characters from; Magic / Water / Air / Life elements. There were no height problems for any of the figures... hope this helps!! I apologize if these images are too big, but there are 3 of them, so if you want me to change this to a link instead, just let me know, and I will edit!!

It looks like Chill's head pops out of the case. I was wanting to see all six cases, so I could see how they all fit in each slot.
Trying to see if I can get a consistent look with the cases you have. On two of the three cases I've seen work with the first and second game figures, you can keep each element together.

Chill's head doesn't pop up at all; the black plastic (not the red inserts) mark the highest point of the dividers (since the red dividers are shorter than the black plastic), there is also additional clearance between the black plastic and the clear plastic lid... not sure that I'll have time to take photos of all 6 cases soon, but I will try (busy week at work, but I might have time later this weekend)!! Obviously you should go with the case that you're most comfortable with, it helps to see them in person too if that's an option!! @RainMan, thanks for the compliment!! It took a full afternoon to organize, but was definitely worth it!!

At Staples I saw a pack of three small baskets for $1, so I bought a pack. Each basket fits 6 regular Skylanders, so for the $1 deal, you can fit 18 regular skylanders! Here is mine: file:///C:/Users/Romir/Pictures/photo.JPG

Okay so for those of you using cases and not displaying your figures have we all come to an agreement of what is best? Honestly I think the official cases hold just as much as any other car and each figure can stave on its base plus hold 3 Giants. It looks near and clean. 2nd I would say the ones gamemaster uses would be the best bc of price and room. They just don't hold many figures compared to the official case. I think they hold 3 to 4 Giants and 4 more figures? The official care holds over 25 and 3 Giants. 3rd I would vote on the bulldog case but the lid won't close if ubsit lightning rod or prism break figures up right. Honestly the really useful boxes are the best but you can't buy them in the U.S. so I think for now I'm going to use the official cases. Feel free to disagree and explain why. For my needs I need something I can store easily plus hold alot of figures I don't want 6 to 7 boxes piled up. I'm thinking two maybe 3 official cases will be enough. At the most 4. That's better for me than 6 to 8 sortmasters. Post pics if you can prove otherwise. I don't like storing 2 figures in the same slot like the bulldog case forces you to do unless you buy several. I'm looking for compact, quantity and an individual compartment for each figure I don't want them piled on top of each other like I said. Would you guys agree this is a fair assesment or is there something out there I'm missing. This is forcarsonly not displays.

I got of these recently and I am off to get some more on Friday. I was thinking of having one box per element (with swap force coming out later this year) and one box for all the magic items. These Stanley boxes are great

Thats the site for the boxes i use. I dont know if there is an American equivilent or even if they ship to the States. I use the 11Litre box with a Large 6 tray for the Giants. And the 11Litre box with Large 16 tray for Normal 'Landers. I guess they're quite pricey but look alot nicer than stanleys imo.

Can anyone do a review of the official storage boxes? I'm down to the sortmaster pictured above and the official storage box. Looks like the sortmaster will save the most space for me bc it will slide under my bed. The official ones may I'm just not sure. Hopefully someone can post pics and review it please.

Skylanders wife and I (and with some painting help from our little one) finally put an end to Skylanderpalooza in our front room and built a shelf for them to rest in style. This is so much better than them just sitting on our credenza poking their heads up into the bottom of our TV screen. (It was like Mystery Science Theatre 3000 Skylanders Edition LOL)
