X-treme where do you get that for the giants?
i have no idea; my dad used to use it to display mini football helmets. i found it in the storage room. it has more dividers for regular landers, but it fits 8 giants perfectly.

Finally got some pictures of my Ikea cases (mentioned above). All the regular characters fit, as I mentioned I put them in cases for the elements, with an extra for legendary, variants and special items, and adventure packs.
I finally got something good for the Giants this weekend, these cases were $3.97 at Walmart, snap shut and stack. I made the dividers out of Elmer's Foam Board I got at the hobby store. The dividers are cut to fit in snugly and not move. Here they are sitting in the media closet. |

Def, how much did the blue cases cost, and are they only at these IKEA stores? If so, how much were they at Ikea?
As for the white cases for the Giants, can you take a pic from the side, so I can see how far up the tip of Swarm's barb comes out from the top. This is so I can gauge if those cases would even be able to fit Ninjini who seems to be a half an inch taller than the tip of Swarm's barb.

I'll take a picture in a bit, but the lid actually isn't flush with the case, so there some room. The lid bumps up some as you can see, which sits in the bottom of the one above it for stacking.
Here are the blue ones: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80100029/ |

Here you go, image of it plus next to one with the lid on to show how much clearance you will have. I wondered about Ninjini, but with only a half inch or so it will easily fit.

Hey guys,
New to this site and I got my son Giants for Christmas and it has been quite an adventure to collect them all. I think I'm more interested in finding them then my 5yr old son and 7yr old daughter. They get excited when I get a new one but I am the one who plays the game the most. Being that we are starting to get quite a collection of these guys, I need to build a showca errr store them somewhere. Well My hobby is woodworking so I ended up designing and building what I call the Sky Shelf. Came up with 3 different versions, standard, elemental, and lightcore. The elemental version of this shelf is going to be as you will be able to slide in color acrylic backs for each elements color. I've been selling the standard version on Etsy and logging my build process on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/CustomSklyanderCastleShelf Here is a shot of my prototype or my son's Elemental and Lightcore editions.. |

Thanks guys! They are LEDs from hitlights.com.. Still working on the design and placement of the lights to get the best effect. I actually designed and built the shelf before I had the lights so I guestimated the dimensions for wiring. Learned a lot though so I have been tweaking my designs quite a bit. |

Have you thought of using tape lights? It would work great but can get kinda pricey. If you put the colored inserts in the back like you have pictured you might save some money by being able to buy a white light which would emit the color. These would work great. http://1000bulbs.com/category/...led-tape-light/

I just use ornament cases that are on clearance at wall may since Christmas is over. They are called stack ems or snao ems. Comes with pre cut cardboard inserts that work great. I was able to cut and modify certain slots to fit Giants. If I used one case for Giants only I wouldn't have had to cut anything but I've only got two boxes right now cause I wanted to make sure they worked before I bought more. Plus I haven't stated buying doubles much yet. So I only item the ones I have two of.

Yep, that's exactly what they are. Just purchased from a different vendor. The acrylic is opaque and I have all the elemental colors. Though my original design was to mimic an LCD display although the opaque acrylic doesn't let the light through like I had hoped. Trying quite a few different positions with the LEDs and channels for wiring. I had to put my R&D on hold to fill a few orders but I'm soon finished with those so I'll be back at it. This new design (creating it in 3d) will allow me to build the shelf and provide the ability to slide the colored acrylic in at any position so they could be configured in any order if you are ordering them by your favorite element. Also this allows me to provide any color acrylic so if you just want all red, blue, yellow, or any combination you can just order that along with the shelf when available. As my wife just wanted a shelf to store any kinds of figures, this would provide a low profile and yet a playhouse for my son. Though my intentions were to showcase our Skylander collection. With the build process I'm currently selling the shelf with no back at 200 + shipping. The colored acrylic or "elemental" version would be 250. With the combination of materials and time to build which is coming in around 8-9 hours, it's a fair price. I'm trying now to make shipping as cheap as possible. I didn't want my post to be about selling them as I'm just enjoying the game along with the design and build process. Gives me something to build as I just enjoy woodworking. It was cool to find this thread about people building units to store an showcase Skylanders as for the last few months has been an addiction for me. BTW, I really like the layout of spoons10696 shelf. |

Have you tried making the back out of say particle board or wood and painting it with neon colored paint? That might accent the light better. Then again it might be darker.

Yep, I did. Though since I decided to make them made to order, it would take me much more time to tape/paint a back. I'm still up in the air about the lightcore edition as I still need a back over the acrylic just like an LCD. Though I want to make it simple to build but yet have a great effect. I'm a computer mod guy from back in the 90s so when I can mix my passions of PC modding and woodworking, I jump at the chance. |

Well its a very cool shelf Bulldog, I really like the granite spray paint you went with.....I thought about using that but to please my wife I went with white so it would match in my daughters room..lol!.....only sad thing I would say about yours is that it will only hold one series of figures. When I designed mine I specifically made sure that it would hold all of Series 1 and Series 2, the Giants aswell as the battle packs and adventure packs!. People will probably need 2 shelfs from you in order to show off their entire collection....a little pricey then but still very very nice units!....awesome job!
Heres mine with a bunch more figures on it now!!.........not sure what I will do with Series 3!!!...haha. I updated my pictures as I have added in some background images in the Giants spaces. Feel free to check em out young Portal Masters!!.....or not!....the choice is yours. http://i1309.photobucket.com/a...zps87506dc6.jpg http://i1309.photobucket.com/a...zps4bfed03d.jpg http://i1309.photobucket.com/a...zpsc48be78e.jpg http://i1309.photobucket.com/a...zps2267b38e.jpg |

Series 3? You have more immediate concerns. Where is poor Ninjini going to hang out? All of the giant slots have been taken! I love the shelves, both yours and the one above, but unfortunately with a precocious three year old - leaving them out on display is a good way to get them lost. He loves the Skylanders, and they would never stay put on the shelves. So cases for us it is, at least for the immediate future. |

For those, yes, blue only. They have some other similar crates, including bigger ones with wheels on them (no dividers) and small ones in a three pack that come in some other colors. But, those are blue only. They have had them for quite a while, we used them for the first game too (used 1 box to share two elements back then, not possible now). I buy them in the store - I had to search for the web link. I also have one extra one that my son uses to put in a few favorites if he is going to a friend's house. |

I think the display style cases on here are interesting (also VERY well done), but not a practical long-term storage solution for most (not to mention all the dusting someone as OCD as myself would have to be constantly doing with shelves like those, lol)... when I hear "storage" I don't really think of the same thing as "display"... However, these storage containers mentioned above seem to be a very nice solution, as well as portable!! I was finally able to hunt down 6 of them in my area and will be rearranging my storage to fit into these bins, thanks CrazyAce for the awesome idea!! 6 cases should fit everything released through the end of the Giants game!! I'll try to post pics when I get everything organized/labeled from the 2 Rubermaid containers with which I currently stored my SSA and Giants figures!!

Thanks! I needed it to be small my son's room size and for shipping. I already built a bunch of oak cubbies for his room so this is actually more of a play shelf that can hold any figures, not just skylanders. I really like the jet cut steel shelves someone posted. Wish I had access to anything CNC. Who knows, I might outsource to have the MDF laser cut instead if spending a ton of time in my woodshop and getting MDF dust over everything. I especially liked the element symbols cut out. I played around with etching the acryllic on mine but it didn't really add anything but more time spent on building which in the end, cost me more $$. |

That shelf for 44 dollars on Ebay wouldn't be bad if it had two adjustments made.
1: The round shelf on the bottom should be bigger, so it can fit a console Portal of Power. 2: The first 3 rows from the top won't be able to fit certain Skylanders. Stealth Elf almost comes to the top, and Sunburn is about is about 1/4 inches taller than her. He should have made the top 3 rows as tall as the bottom 2 rows in my opinion.

What someone needs to do is run an antenna loop through all of the shelves to light up all of the light cores while they're being stored. Install an on / off switch on the side or something. That would be the ultimate Skylander storage shelf!
I wonder if the light cores can stay lit indefinitely or if their ability to light up is limited. |

Defpally. Do the Ikea cases have dividers in them or are they separate?
And Gamemaster I bought one of those Stanley cases at Lowes yesterday. It works great! The trouble is they only had one and he said it was discontinued. Walmart no longer had them either. I am going to check Home Depot too today as it says there are 4 in stock. I need one more, but they do work great! I love the removable partitions. I will take a pic later today of mine and it does hold my Tree Rex too.

They have dividers in them, the one vertical and the one horizontal that go across the case are fixed, the other ones are removable (6 of those included). What Gamemaster did with the big Stanleys is cool, and it works for him - but I much prefer the Ikea ones - they are inexpensive, the color goes well with the theme (rather than a more "work type" black/yellow case), and they are perfect for being anal-retentive. They are very solid and stackable. Each case has 9 slots that fit regular characters almost perfectly. You can put the 4 x series 1, 4 x series 2 and lightcore for an element in one. I'm a big fan of having the figures sorted out logically together, it makes them easy to find, and when putting them up helps us make sure nothing is left out. I have one case for each element, one case for legendaries (8 regular, 1 lightcore of those), one for my variants, one for items and the cards, one for adventure packs and one extra so my son can carry a few over to a friend's house. Of course, it doesn't work for giants (as I showed what I did for those), and it is a lot of cases - but they are only $4 each. |
