I wish it wasn't so, but Idle Chatter is just barren. I have to vote for Stuff and Nonsense.

Idle Chatter because you can actually discuss something without being swarmed by idiots.

Idle chatter because your topic doesn't go to the 3rd page a day after you make it.

I would go with Idle Chatter if it was more active and had more of the topics that are made in S&N that would fit here more (note: I know that's on purpose due to the fact that more people visit S&N), but it's not so I voted S&N...

Seeing as I actually know what Idle Chatter was like back in its heyday, I'll toss my vote in for it. Lots of fun discussions all around. ^.^b

It so totally depends on the genre. And btw, this is a question that thesis papers and whole door-stopper books have been written about. I'm assuming you are referring only to tv shows and not feature-length or short films, because that's another can of worms.

American cartoons have always won internationally when it comes to comedy (even Japanese people cannot get enough Tom & Jerry; it consistently ranks in the top ten tv ratings there), especially because so much of humor anime is based on national in-jokes that most people outside japan wouldn't understand. Excel Saga, Cromartie, and others have come close though.

For the action catagory, anime wins hands-down. Shonen-style animation has a much smaller adult following in America than in Japan; only within the last few decades has America begun to produce action shows of decent quality, probably beginning with Batman: The Animated Series (and even that one is viewed through rose-tinted glasses, so to speak).

I'm tempted to say both, though for the sake of avoiding riding the fence, and from the simple fact that I own several anime and exactly zero cartoon series, I must choose anime.

i love animes and cartoons for different reasons

cartoons because they're just golden, and anime because they have amazing characters and storylines that most western fiction, whether it be books or movies or T.v shows or whatever, don't have. And if a western shows does have a decent storyline, they seem to be very anime influenced like The Last Airbender/The Legend of Korra and Teen Titans, and I'm even convinced Homestuck is influence by anime. I swear cartoons like Adventure Time has a few anime influences as well. Japan seems to have more imagination.

I want to say Gen IV for nostalgia, but Gen VI is the most fun I've had with the series in a long time and feels like the best.

this is a hard choice, since each gen is great in their own way :C

probably gen III. it had the best pokemon, starters, music, villains, i love brendan and may's character designs and rayquaza is one of my favourite legendaries next to lugia. most of my favourite pokemon come from this gen too.

Disclaimer: I haven't finished Gen III or V or even started Gen VI (which I hear nothing but good things about), so perhaps that disqualifies me. If not...

Gen IV

The last "Director's Cut" game, Platinum was excellent in many ways, not least of which I felt the actual Pokemon are the best batch ever. Like Cav said, perhaps it's nostalgia (and the gen I started with), but I haven't felt as strongly about a team of Pokemon since using my group of Empoleon, Garchomp, Giratina, Darkrai, and Palkia. It has five games, three regions, the most legendaries, and Arceus, the freaking creator of Pokemon.

Looks like this week is the first tie we've had! :0 Gen III and Gen IV are both neck and neck at with 4 votes each. It would be a shame to just leave it at that wouldn't you agree? So let's keep this going to decide just with Generation is the ultimate!
Generation III or Generation IV?
Vote away! smilie

Looks like the ultimate Pokémon generation is... Generation IV! It beat Gen III's 6 votes with 9 votes. Now let's have a little break from Pokémon by looking at some of Nintendo's other franchises, specifically Kid Icarus and Fire Emblem, too franchises that have become very popular as of fairly recent times. Which is better though? Let's find out. Vote Away! smilie
