I really like Kick Off countdown (I hope he's widely available in america >.<) and Enchanted Star strike. I prefer Fire Krakens normal color scheme to his original though.

oh and springtime trigger happy is PURPLE! smilie

They're going a little crazy with the variants now, aren't they? Christmas Bumble Blast? Soccer Countdown? Easter Trigger Happy? These are fine for Lost Islands bonuses, but they are just silly to have figures of...

ON THE OTHER HAND, I love Jade Fire Kraken. I will skip him until that one comes out.

The more people resist that these are different Skylanders, as in you still need to buy them, they will keep selling. Why you say? It's because some might only ever buy these and not the "standard ones" that you see around.

I'm amazed at the people who are upset at Activision for making these. You don't like 'em? Great! Don't buy them... it doesn't really take much away from the game.

But, obviously, there are those who do like them. This way, they can buy them. Everyone wins. Folks who don't want them don't have to buy them, folks who like them can buy them!

This pretty much sums up the variant issue.

It's not like Activision is forcing you to buy everything, well, at least you don't need every single Swapper variant.

Looks like they are making a lot to choose from, so that you will buy those and not have enough money to invest in Disney. When Christmas comes around most parents will probably have to choose what to invest in (SF or DIS) and since Skylanders is on Game 3 and have a lot more options, hoping parents will choose Skylanders.

Makes sense to me....most folks can buy the starter pack and have a jolly good time with 100+ skylanders without an additional purchase. You have to admit though the swapping is worth the purchase of the new figures at the very least.

RIP GhostRoaster. He's reanimated as TakeYourLemons but occasionally is resurrected from the beyond when needed.

Yes, The swapping was a good idea on Activision part, Gives us a new element to the game. My son and I have been in this since the beginning (Minus the first 3 months of SSA) and we both enjoy playing it (Great family time). I don't see myself stopping even if I try, we are in it for the longgggg hall. Skylanders kids reminds me of my son and I without the "s".

I'm really not sure how to feel about this... everything but Jade Fire Kraken and Enchanted LC Star Strike seems... odd. Mainly with them being in game variants... I'll be happier if this ends up being really good photo shops (JFK and ELCSS aside, I really like and still want those two.) Or is they end up releasing figured forms of the other Lost Island egos... And/or a SwapForce version of Pumpkin Eye-Brawl.

I'm glad they are providing more options in character selection that appear in game from my perspective as a player. I do worry that Activision is going to go to this well too often. If you choose to collect them all this go round (I personally do not), so far you will have 72 known figures to buy, then add in more non-game ones and the unknown ones and the number is closer to 80 (just speculation). To have a full collection from both of the previous games (non-chase) you would have just over 100. That means you would be close to doubling your collection, which would cause all but the most dedicated collector to question their intentions, as I did.

More options is great. Too many options and you begin to lose impact. How special is a variant if there are over a dozen of them? Over the course of the "season" that would mean a new variant or two every single month. There is value in special, exclusive marketing that has impact and catches the public's attention. Eventually, when used too often people become numb to it. After all, Guitar Hero was just offering "more options" to their customers.

The characters do look great though!

I like the more options too. I think it's neat to have holiday themed ones. I love pumpkin eyebrawl even if he aint in-game. Some kids may hate a figure but then see it colored different and want him.

The good thing about swap force. You buy the game get 3-5 figures and if you have the old games have more already. Disney, you get 3 worlds to play alone. Need to toss another $25 or so to play with others. Again they are both different.

I'll say one thing, I'll be happy when I can dig through the game's files and know for sure what figures are and aren't coming out as named variants. It's hard keeping track of everything when you put the cards in a binder organized otherwise.

^this sounds just like myself talking.
knowing the entire list of all toys (magic items are just as important) is important for me to because of how I organize the toys them self when they go into storage, and when I make my check lists. I'm not even going to put my cards/stickers in my binder (even tho I already have bought extra page holders) until I see your report smilie
Last year I was hesitant to trust the game guide's check list, but it did turn out to be complete so i have hope for this years version. but then they never listed all magic items.
