I did a lot of this during the Giants release cycle.
I don't plan to do this, however, during this new release cycle. Other than Mega Ram Spyro, I don't particularly like any of the new reposes. I find the "Big Gulp" Pop Fizz, "Big Bang" Trigger Happy, "Anchors Away" Gill Grunt, and "Heavy Duty" Sprocket to be particularly ridiculous.

We still don't know if they plan on "stringing us" with DLC related content; that may be my only reason to do it--and if that's the case I'm a buyer when they get to $5 or less. I don't think it will be the case since Heroics aren't there, but I'll be monitoring that one closely.

DLC as in what? Stuff they haven't said? I mean they pretty much have said over 3 or 4 times that Swap Force has 2 Adventure Packs and 2 Battle Arena packs.

What hasn't been confirmed (I asked skylanderboyandgirl to ask this but wasn't) is if they are unlocking specific content to the figure, like they did in Giants. All things remaining equal (since Heroics aren't back) is no, but I want an assurance from Activision/Vicarious.

All of these new variants is making me feel better that I'm on the "Don't Need Them All" train. Looks like Swap Force is going to separate the casual from the professional collectors.

^amen my wallet hurts for those trying to get them all up to I think 75 now possibly close to 100 once you factor in chase variants. Also it seems they are really pushing different forms of almost half the character base if not all which will be very daunting and confusing to new comers or uneducated parents on a x-mas shopping trip. I know that there is no way I would be able to get all these and I thank god I can't I thought my mere 50 skylanders collection from the last two games was big.

^ I know right? That seems like a warm up to the main event now...

SSA: At first I only wanted to get the dragons, but I started to buy other figs that I thought look cute, only to end up missing a very few charachters (I started collecting after Giants came out, so I was forced to buy triple packs in some cases, because I cannot find the singles anymore), so I decided to get them just for the sake of completing the collection. (I do miss the legendary triple, though I don't care much about variants)

SG: Originally planned to buy the cuties, but now I'm pretty sure by the end of the month I'll have every regular figure, and maybe 1-2 LC.

SSF: I feel kind of depressed about it, I want to have at least 2 starter packs (standard PS3 and 3DS but I'm really craving for the dark starter pack as well), the 2 adventure + 2 battle packs, one of each move type swaplanders, and again dragons and other chars I find cool. But that'll cost an arm and a leg again, and it won't even be a full collection, so I'm still not sure what should I do.

SSA. when i first saw it, i hated it. i thought it was cliche and pointless. but then i tried it out. "oh god, best game ever."
so, i picked up my first world wallet and bought everything. i bought 2 of every store variant (blue bash, flocked SS, etc). one opened, one closed. and i just bought everything skylanders related.

SG. BUY ALL THE CHARACTERS, ALL THE VARIANTS, AND ALL THE LIGHTCORES. COLLECT ALL THE CARDS, BUY ALL THE MEGABLOKS, SPEND ALL THE MONEY ON STUFF.

SF. I realized this is going to go on for as long as skylanders is being made. im changing my ways, buying the swappers, lightcores, then the core skylanders that dont have LC duplicates, and the variants. i am not repeating the jet vac mistake. (one lightcore, one normal, one legendary, none past level 2).

Next game: PFFFFT, if the game is short in SF, im just not even going to bother.

All of them. lol. I was given the green light, and we have a pretty good collection going so all of them. Variants first then fill in the regulars down the road.

My collection's been mapped-out for a while now with only slight tweaks as new figures have been announced.

Giants: Wii U Starter Pack (eventually), both Battle Packs, all Giants, all new Skylanders, all non-variant Series 2 Skylanders except , , , , , , and , LightCore , , and , plus one or more in-game variants ( and maybe confirmed)
Swap Force: Wii Dark Edition (maybe for my birthday), Wii U Starter Pack (eventually), both Adventure Packs, both Battle Packs, all Swap Force members, all new Skylanders, all non-variant Series 3 Skylanders except and , no Series 2 Skylanders, LightCore , , /:legendarygrimcreeper: and , Legendary Triple Pack, Legendary Swap Force Double Pack, plus maybe one or more in-game variants.
