Yeah it sucks they removed the Heroic Chang's....i liked the Heroic's. And i got them so i could unlock the Heroic's also. Kinda wondering what they are going to do to get players wanting them all...(as its put)....because having the Wow Pow is cool an all, but having an extra power/move isn't a big enough draw to me.

@GhostRoaster I personally think that just path switching would be a major reason to buy them. It's the reason I'm looking forward to S3 Camo: I really like both of his paths, and now I can just use one figure instead of keeping both out! There are some characters I love both paths of(Boomer, Dino-Rang, Voodood, Sprocket and Spyro come to mind), so personally that would make me hold off for them.
But yes... Making S1s have their own Wow Pow and path switching WOULD have been the way to go and is what they should have done. I really doubt we are going to see it anytime. It's not just that, but which powers can they come up with? For example, look at Drill Sergeant- he literally just gets a damage booster, which is very unexciting and would definitely not make me buy him on its own. They also have to make Wow Pows exciting so that more people will want them.

I think they got lazy with a few in Giants because they knew people would buy S2s just to unlock Heroics. I know that's how they sucked me in- not just for completionism, but because Heroics are a fun bonus that up the figure customisation and help to break the same-pace-iness of the main game. Honestly not sure if I will invest as much into Sky4... SWAP Force is finally adding jumping to the main games (the 3DS games can suck it, Giants was rubbish and SA is old news now) and the Swapping gimmick looks like mad fun to play with both in-game and physically, so I will be buying it. But if the game after just does something similar to Giants where they did something that would have worked without a gimmick and glorify it, I won't be going for everything that game(most likely only the starter pack with Tech figures and a few reposes I'd really like... I wouldn't buy new guys till they get a repose unless I was really, really hyped to play them).

Personally, I think that the game would be best with 24 new Skylanders and 8 ingame variants/8 reposes/8 LightCore Series x each game... 48 in total plus an Adventure Pack or two doesn't sound like a ridiculous number to collect, compared to the 60+ in Giants/SWAP, and that gives enough new guys to enjoy while having lots of variants for collectors to track down. smilie

I am really interested to see how much money Swap Force makes this year. It is hard to compare to past games since each new game brings more fans, but i know our family is going to buy far less figures this time around. We were all about collecting every figure we could find at retail price for the first two games, but with such a large number of variants we are cutting those completely out of the equation now. We will still buy the new 32, and maybe the other 24 if the game is amazing. For me, all the extras are no longer an option if I don't plan to collect them all. I wonder how many people there are like me and my family out there...

Check out the "Don't Need Em All" Thread...you'll find you're in good company.

The thing is--even with the "cut"--you're still buy almost just as many skylanders as before.

RIP GhostRoaster. He's reanimated as TakeYourLemons but occasionally is resurrected from the beyond when needed.

Yeah, even with no reposes I'm looking at 32 figures, and also new magic items. So a minimum of 40 "toys".
