Everybody here pretty much hates scalpers, as you know the reason already. They get mad as they don't get there early before the scalpers do, and end up missing their chance, so they blame scalpers like you. I personally don't hate you, and if that's one way you make money, keep doing it if you'd like! Don't let anybody stop you.

It's ok not to agree with someone--but is it necessary to attack people verbally? What is the purpose? Do you think you'll get someone to change what they are doing? I think you'd have a better chance changing someone's mind about something by having a discussion. You never know why someone does what they do..
What if their child was sick and they needed money to pay for medical treatments? Would it be ok to "scalp" then? I'm not saying that's the reason--I'm just saying you need to understand an individuals situation before making any kind if assumption.

With all the comments on scalping recently, just wanted to add in my 2 cents:

1. I view scalping as a low move/way to generate income, however if people weren't paying such obscene prices for things there wouldn't be any reason for someone to scalp!

2. Don't feed the scalpers! If you diligently search (other than for the true chase variants/toy fairs/etc) you can find almost anything at regular price, or a bit above retail on craigslist even.

3. I find it kind of sad that making $1,400 seems like a huge deal over 2 months. That also doesn't deduct how much was spent on said figures, nor the time and other spending included on gathering them up. Even someone with a lower end job is pulling in more than that over a 2 week period, and others of us more fortunate significantly more.

In the end I understand the scalper hating, especially when most people are getting these for their children. I also find it sad that making a few dollars to maybe forty in extreme cases is that helpful, especially factoring in all the wasted time (unless, as I would assume, you don't work). Hopefully I didn't violate any rules, if I did I'll gladly edit/accept the punishment.

Scalping is normal. Our economic system, based on supply and demand for goods, totally condones and even encourages scalping. Is it a problem? Yeah, perhaps it is. So is speeding on the highways, but people still do it. So is smoking cigarettes, but people still do that, too.

My beef in this thread recently (against Goldbashmaster) is not to wave the anti-scalping flag. Rather, it's to ridicule Goldbashmaster for feigning that he didn't expect to be ridiculed after he brazenly was bragging about his scalping endeavors (this occurred several pages ago in this thread).

If you can't take the heat, Goldbashmaster, stay out of the kitchen. That said, I was NOT the one who told Goldbashmaster to, as he put it, "go die in a hole". Suggesting that someone die as penance for something as trivial as scalping toys is reprehensible. I don't think Goldbashmaster should die. I think he should not be posting on these forums.

Not to mention he was bragging about ordering two dozen Molten Hot Dogs on Walmart.com when they opened up to "fill his EBay pre-orders". Then tried to justify it by saying he was doing it for "his family" (typical scumbag justification). He lurks here to get tips on where to get figures, then pops up every once in a while to brag about it, so obviously has no shame in it.

Eh, if that's how he chooses to spend his time, then so be it. I had a friend that used to do gumball machines, he would spend the whole day every other Saturday driving around town stocking/collecting. He told me his take and it was similar over the same period. By the time you factor out shipping/gas/time/figure cost spent locating your profit is relatively tiny, particularly compared to normal job wages. If that is how little you value your own time and can justify skimming money off parents that just want to get toys for their kids, then go for it. Personally, I have much more respect for myself and others to do that.

And I don't care if he does use the money to pay for the medical bills for a sick mother/child/dog, the ends does not justify the means. There are plenty of legitimate ways to make some extra money if you are hard up for cash. And at the rate he appears to be making, a part time job at minimum wage would be more lucrative and much less scumbag.

I've seen the Darklight Crypt Adventure Pack selling routinely on Ebay during the last week or so for $100-$125. Although that is outrageous, I can understand why the price is climbing, since supply is very low and demand is relatively high.

However, this clown making the leap from $125 up to $500 has a few screws loose. If someone shells out $500 for the Crypt pack, s/he should be forced to donate an additional $500 to charity immediately. Frack, one can buy a car for $500 (even though it wouldn't be a very good car).

Scarlet Ninjini, for example - over 1,000 auctions last I saw, and she can still somewhat be found in stores. It would seem that with a known limited edition it would be wise to just sit on it a while - maybe even until Swap Force or late summer to maximize value.

Because they have to be first and the problem is for most of the skylanders that will be released now that they will be at the most enough that most people can get them at a variety of retailers and have done so. They think someone will be willing to pay the price and sometimes they do. Personally I would do as your advice to sit on it if it's going to be rare instead of trying to make at most a 5-10 buck profit, You're probably right that most do it don't have a respectable job as it's "easier" to try and make a quick buck.

Scalpers exist because it is an easy dollar with relatively zero risk. If it doesn't sell then back to the store it goes. The way I see it for some people with no time to hunt, they pay others for their time. Everyone is happy. There are times resorting to fleabay is the only option to finding ones the local stores stopped stocking.

At Target here a family was able to get four when they got in I noticed on sunday, though there was four of them so it didn't seem too bad to think of as when I talked to them they said they all play it and to me that's kind of how it should be even if all of them got one. At least there's a good chance they won't get scalped.

I have to agree on their value, which is why I took back 2 of the 3 jades I got online from target as a just in case as I'd rather have the money and basically normal figures and even some variants will nose dive when the next best thing hits, or walmart and other stores will just push remaining stock when swap force arrives by making the extra room for the previous game. The figures won't go farther than retail value except for the variants, but I think each year the values will just go down. I'm fortunate to have a clear cynder now and if I didn't see her in store I wouldn't pay over retail at this point. I have too many already as is and depending what they do for swap force and what I've learned from buying for giants, there's going to be far less buying if any by the time fall rolls around.

Anywhoozers, even tho he's a scalper, it doesn't mean he's a terrible person, maybe he needs the money for his family or sickly parents? You never kno. Here is my two cents worth on scalpers....

You have to be mad not only at the scalpers but at the people who will buy from them. (I am not talking about your flocked stumpys or your any of those kind of variants here.) The only reason scalpers exist is because of people will pay the higher price for these. I have came across a couple of extra figures in my time of collecting. I have thrown them up on Ebay instead of taking them back. I made a dollar or two as I ship all most of my stuff for free on ebay. I could have taken them back but didn't have the receipt and they will only take three back in a 12 month period without one.

As far Goldbashmaster.... The problem that I have with him, is that I only ever see him on here when new stuff comes out and he brags about making money from people. If he truly needed the money for a good reason, he wouldn't be bragging. So, no he may not be effecting my life directly but, he is still a bad guy in my eyes as he don't contribute to this site for anything other then to brag about things.

As far as whats his name scalping, he didn't metion how much he spent on skylanders. I mean if he spent 1300 dollars on skylanders and made 1400ish meh okay. I can probably find better things to do to make that kind of money. I will admit that I have put things on Ebay to try and sell them. I don't do it as a habit or pick things up that I already have that is rare. The times I put skylanders up on Ebay is when I end up with an extra and don't want to waste the time trying to return them and not having a receipt. The problem that I have with what he does, is he will go and find stuff to scalp. That is what pisses me off.
