In a Q3 Conference call, Activision CEO confirmed that they'd be moving forward with a new Skylanders title in 2014.

Yeahhh...no. I'll wait a year, see what they make, but more than likely won't invest in it. $1000+ a year is too much, and this market's going to crash if they keep milking it like the music games franchise. Even staunch fans of Call of Duty are feeling the same about that franchise now, you can only milk a cow so long.

I think this is incredibly obvious. Activision won't stop beating that horse until it is an unrecognizable pulp. That's how they roll. We'll get a new game each October, with around 50 new figures, alternating between their two console developers, with a new "gimmick" each time. It will continue until they release one that garners little to no interest and retailers aren't willing to dedicate shelf space required. That won't be anytime soon.

I *have* noticed a little drop off this year in comparison to last year. Release day was very popular, but since then there haven't been nearly as much excitement. Shelves are still fully stocked, and Wave 2 is much easier to find than last year (that may have to do with better stocking, but I don't know the numbers - and I'm sure it will ramp up after Thanksgiving). I think the thing that has most made me notice is the number of sales, particularly at TRU - it has been almost constant Buy 1 Get 40 off since release. Yes, they charge more (and do more sales typically), but someone pointed out they just dropped the price of singles back down a dollar. Maybe they realize they have reached the breaking point on price.

That isn't to say I think Swap Force isn't doing great, it is just easier to find stuff this time. Finding a Hothead in stores before Christmas last year was insane for those that didn't get him right away.

Once I found out the VV was doing this game, I IMMEDIATELY pictured the CoD scenerio with the game alternating between two companies EACH year.

Here's my thing, so long as they maintain backwards compatability, I'm fine with it. There are ALWAYS sales and deals to bring the cost of the starter kits down to 'normal video game' pricing, and the figures can just be used over and over - so there is NO need to go out and burn money to collect all new stuff.

With Swap Force, I REFUSE to rebuy any character (the exception was Terrafin because of the battlepack, and dark spyro/elf - because I got the dark set). I've been tempted to get Chop Chop when I can finally find him, but there is just no point. No 'one attack' is worth paying ten dollars+ for. Why would I buy a lightcore Flashwing? It's the same character with a lighting effect.

Now if I buy a 'lot' off eBay and I add them in/replace my old figures - that's fine, but each year they can do a new one and the only figures I'll get will be NEW cores and NEW gimmicks.

swap force on the wii does the work for me perfactly hope skylanders 4 on the wii wil be that good too

Yeah it was basically confirmed when they announced SSF, they said Toys for Bob was working on Sylanders 4 and VV was lead for SSF. It should be interesting to see what TFB comes up with a two years of development time unlike SG where it was a rather quick turn around.

A Wii version for the next game is unlikely.

They did have 3 different ideas other than swap force, maybe they will try another one of those ideas I kinda want nano squad

If I had to bet, I'd say it will be even MORE of a downgraded port than Swap Force. And eventually in later sequels if it keeps going long enough, the PS3/360 versions will be downgraded ports as well. The Wii is a dead system, next year it will be even more dead - expecting them to put significant money behind a port for a system with a dwindling player base is not very realistic. I would say Skylanders 4 will be the last one to get a Wii port.

Don't take me wrong, I loved my Wii - but they don't make it anymore. Almost no games are scheduled in the next year. And unlike the other consoles, you have a clear backwards compatible upgrade path in the WiiU. Some great holiday deals on the WiiU are coming up, and some great games - Mario looks awesome.

Well, I read somewhere that Swap Force will be the last Skylanders game to be developer for the Wii.
So, Yeah. Sorry.
However, I am really happy to hear that TFB is leading the development again. I really love Swap Force, but I prefer SSA and SG style. Swap Force seems too... Infinitesque.
Really curious about the new Cores and new gimmick Skylanders.

Well this is the end of my journey i guess. I'm going through some tough times and my bro doesn't want to get involved with the fourth and doesn't want me to get involved either so at the end of this game, I might be leaving. I'm gonna miss everybody, but might come back every now and then, but can't stay for coming here will only tempt me and cause more problems with my brother.

Given that Wii version has historically been 37% or more of the series sales, and subsequently considering how screwed current Swap Force Wii owners with their current game I suspect they will feel the PAIN PAIN PAIN on #4 since their idea of customer service is nil.

I don't care that the Wii is dead...bottom line is that they created a defective product and don't support it. I call BS.

Call of Skylanders: Skylander Ghosts

Packed full of high paced action and cheesier puns than ever.

Hopefully they will stop rushing their games and have the next one released in 2016, they always rush their games and release them too early.

Activision reported that they made over 500 Million smackeroos off skylanders, and that was even before you could pre-order Swap-Force. They have waaaay more money now and will keep pocketing more until October. Why stop then?

I'd be willing to bet that its numbers have dropped off significantly and other platforms have grown. Stores always have the Wii version in stock, the others less so. Maybe they did ship more of the Wii one, but still ...

And maybe their customer service isn't great, but they DID do something to help make it better.

Thank you my friend. Maybe I'll find a way to at least get the figures, but not the game if at best I can do. Either way I will find a way to improvise and will make it work whether or not I'm playing it. As long as I can at least get the new guys, that's enough for me.

I'd love to see sales to corroborate your statement (all I DO KNOW is UK sales were down 35% week 1 as compared to Giants)... and I must've missed what they ACTUALLY did....I haven't heard anything official from the company.

Interesting, and actually rather predictable. I guess I'll see what the gimmick is, and what the new figures are like, twas actually Rattle Shake and Pop Thorn who sold Swap Force for me.

I doubt anyone cares for the story itself, the fact every game by the conclusion is reset to 0 whilst generic evil strikes new gimmick fantasy land isn't a top priority for TFB/VV. The main target audience are kids and kids really don't care about continuity or story-ark in media.

I hope this time they continue to stock the Swap Force figures after the release of Skylanders 4. I have a feeling I won't have each new character by then.
