Eruptor has a series 1, series 2, lightcore, and now a series 3 coming out.

Look, don't get me wrong, he's a funny character. He's not horrible. I'm glad he's in my collection... But I will not ever play more than 1 of him. Beating the Double Trouble heroic with Eruptor was a feat of pure willpower, barfing magma balls on stuff at point blank and hoping they didn't roll into vases and paintings. You just get no control over your attacks with this guy. He shoots lava everywhere and that about covers it.

What do you guys think? Does this guy really warrant 4 versions? Do people love Eruptor?

(and I'm not even covering chase variants here...)

I fit into the "or what" portion of your question. I have all versions of the guy only for collection purposes other than that I would be lucky if any one of the figures went past level 3 in stats. Personally I would be totally fine if they never made another one of him again. Out of all the characters Activision could have chosen they picked Eruptor as the special figure for the 3DS Swap Force Starter! Ugh!

I dislike him and don't want him at all. If I can get the Volcanic one somehow, I MIGHT get him.

I haven't used my Lightcore Eruptor much, which I bought when I first got into the game in July. I asked the Gamestop employee to suggest someone who might be fun to play with, and he suggested Eruptor from personal experience. While I certainly wouldn't put him as my favorite character by any stretch, I think there are other characters I have a much harder time using and enjoying (Wreckingball and Flameslinger come to mind). I am, however, willing to give the Volcanic Eruptor I'm getting with the 3DS version a legit chance since I haven't used one with a Wow Pow or changing paths.

I don't have series 2 of him but I think he's adorable! My husband and I try to create little personalities to the characters to keep the game from getting too boring after hours of farming for gold and exp. I just put a little sailor cap on my little eruptor and think of him as a big chubby kid. Then when hot dog came around, AH! I made him Eruptor's pet. So yeah, very cute!

So you're a girl then? And it's pretty cool the way that you attribute personalities to your skylanders! Good idea I'll do same!

I think he's a cute design, I'm just not sure why he needs to be made over and over - with how many of him that have come out you'd think he was the best Skylander there is. I don't hate him or anything.

S2 figure is so ugly but the other one are cutes!

He is a cool character, and pretty fun to play - but I also do not get the constant reposing. His Lightcore is mediocre (except in a very dark room) and Series 2 isn't much of a change (oooh he has bumps on his head!). Series 3 with two more versions, meh - only Volcanic is even moderately interesting, given the color scheme. Some of the reposes they have done some great things in line with the character, but Eruptor isn't one of them. That said, he is one of their "main" characters they use in advertising and licensed items, so this is not unexpected (same with Spyro, Stealth Elf, etc.).

Prism Break is one of my favorites, but he is the same boat. His Lightcore is great, and his Series 2 shows off his upgraded form well - but please stop now. I get that they need to have more than just new figures, designing a new character takes a lot of resources/design - and likewise they need to have more than just the new ones in the line to sell. I think they get it too by the way they are at least trying to make variants of the reposes with new names and new outfits - instead of just calling them Character XXX Series 3. They are trying to head off parents getting wise to it.

Looks like you forgot the fact that he has 3 variants. Silver S1, Flocked S2, and Volcanic S3.

I don't love him, but he's kinda fun to play as.

What is the point of this of cource some people love him...

Actually, Eruptor is one of my two LEAST favorite Skylanders. I have no idea why Activision, Toys for Bob, Vicarious Visions, and/or Skylanders fans have decided that Eruptor should be one of the primary "faces" of the Skylanders franchise. He's an unoriginal big round gender-ambiguous blob of lava that's slow and generally inaccurate with his attacks. The developers' fascination with and/or commitment to Eruptor completely eludes me, as a gamer, fan, and collector.

I don't mind Eruptor. My wife and I hate Wrecking Ball. I just do not find him fun at all.

I think Eruptor is cool. I like him, he was my first Lightcore figure.

I think I like him more for looks than for how he plays, I like almost all the fire Skylanders and they are probably my favourite element in the game.

He may not be the most "subtle" when it comes to attacks, but sometimes you just want power not finesse.

Eruptor is one of my least favortie designs, I have s1 lightcore and s2. I took the first two down the lava barf path andd him rather meh I have enjoyed him more down the lava toss path but he's still one of my less prefered. I ended up putting the chefs hat on him and he reminds me of he the state puff marshmellow man.

His angry personality doees not appeal to me either. I'm much more of a fan of indepth personality and the creators haven't really sought to develop him more. Even in the books he just pissy all the time for no reason. They frankly could do more with him, he's just an angry lava blob. Sadly they seeem to be doing that with hot head too.

I think volcanic Eruptor looks sweet but I've never been a big fan of eruptor I always thought Ignitor and Sunburn were cooler.

I'm indifferent towards erupt or. I'm not interested in a new version of him.
I don't like Jet Vac or Gill Grunt (I guess I don't like characters that carry things.?.) DS loves Jet Vac.

I have a lot of fun playing him, esp series 2.

His Wow Pow on series two is pretty good.

Put the fastest speed hat you have on him...and use the Anvil Rain. ...once Anvil Rain runs out, put on Sparx Dragonfly...and yes i know, he hits the vases from time to time...but he's better then Eruptors magma balls.

I completely agree with you. I think he might be my least liked character in my collection. He's slow and has no accuracy whatsoever. And when you WANT accuracy, he seems bound and determined to toss his blobs at exactly what you don't want to hit. It's infuriating. I got him to level 15, got his Quests to get him the Gold Hat, and did all the heroic challenges for him, but just for completeness sake. I never CHOOSE to play him, other than when I need to accomplish something. Those vague underhanded lobs infuriate me so.

See, this is why Skylanders excels at games. If you don't like a certain character then don't put him on the portal. Choose someone you do like. No one will have problems eventually picking up a character and finding one they like.

I get what you're saying. My comment is just legitimately wondering why they make so many version of Eruptor; wondering if he's really that popular. The other concern is that maybe if they hadn't kept including him then there'd be room for a character we like more.. though come to think of it, I'm not sure which fire Skylander I'd prefer. Hot Dog is already coming back. Igniter already has a million versions. Sunburn??

Edit: Yeah i don't like Wrecking Ball either. he is the one i dislike the most...disco ball is useless...its way to fast...theres no strait lines in the game...theres turns, or switches that have to be hit. ...he's almost impossable to stear when going so fast....and his tongue never hits what your aiming at. (having him turn around an attack something that thats in the next room(of witch you can't get there yet)or something you can't see, is very frustrating
Also Sunburn should beable to fly if they bring him back.

Drobot and Sonic Booms challenges are ones to keep an eye on also.

He's very irritating from a heroic perspective...and not a lot of fun to play otherwise. In fact, that's the last character I'm trying to get the "hard" heroics done as I'm madly trying to complete quests, heroics and gold upgrades. My son and I only like him because of his stupid side bar comments (his gurgling etc).

I'm with Bahamut on this one. He's not terribly exciting to play and irritating from an accuracy perspective.

Bottom line---I'm making a statement to Activision this time around about redundant figures with my pocketbook.

Hate Eruptor. Shown frustrating amount of times in marketing. Gameplay gets stale fast and has a similar purpose (mid range and round-spread) to Flame Lord Sunburn, who is from the same element and is much more entertaining. Looks-wise is literally nothing but a lava blob, all three figures also look terrible- lacks charm, generic "goofy" personality(which is also inconsistently supposed to be "short-tempered" in his backstory and in the books?), very common personality in this series too. By far the least interesting of the Fires(only Hot Head rivals him, by virtue of being painfully similar...), which just adds to the awful gash of a wound. Nothing about him feels special and they show him a lot which is why he is in my "least favourite characters" list. Going to be difficult to make myself replay him again for completionism... Especially since he's one of the most frustrating characters to Heroic up.

I can see why people would like him(raw power is fun sometimes), but I can't stand using him for more than five minutes.

Amen to that. This year I'm doing my best to avoid getting duplicates, although it obviously might occur given the Dark Starter. Given the choice, I'll get the variant because they are always harder to get down the road when the inevitable sales pop up. You can practically guarantee that every non-variant will be on discount later, although I'm sure their will be a new Series 2 Slam Bam (a common character that dries up from not being in a later wave). I'm not really worried about that though.

Geez, I made that decision over a year ago, LOL! I just checked on DarkSpyro what the paths are, and I'm STILL not sure (I can't check for real right now). I THINK I picked the Eruption path... I probably would now, making inaccurate blobs MORE powerful seems like a bad idea.

I like Eruptor, however he is my least fave out of all of the fires (Not counting Swappers, SD and Fryno). I think that he should have more interesting attacks. Maybe change the Lava Barf for a transformation of some sort? Like changing into a faster lava snake or something. The 3rd attack just was not needed.

Eruptor is awesome.
Most people aren't too big fans of him but Eruptor is one of Activision's favorites.

I don't like Eruptor, not how he looks nor how he plays.
The upcoming swap force variant I find even less appealing to look at.
Eruptor is one of my least played Skylanders. My favourite fire Skylander being Flameslinger, but I do favour ranged attacks to melee attacks.
