This is a Collaboration Project and anybody can contribute in creating the Tiers. Please note that this tier is for Nightmare, if you are looking for the PVP Tiers go here. These Tiers are still Work in Progress!

Advice in giving suggestions:
  • Do not post suggestions based on your opinion, please give reasoning supporting your suggestion for why you want this Skylander in this Tier.
  • These Tiers are based on a Skylander's Path.
  • For more information on the paths go here.
  • Please when comparing two Skylanders to make sure that they are at the same level, had completed the same number of heroic challenges, and are not wearing any hats, are wearing the same hat or are waering hat that improve the same number for the same stat.
  • To help you create your suggestion you can base it on how well a Skylander can defeat enemies in the Nightmare Mode.
  • If you want to move a Skylander up of down a Tier, please post how the Skylanders compare to the Tier you want it to be in.
  • To provide accurate suggestions please experiment with that Skylander.
  • Please also provide in your suggestions whether its a Series 1 or Series 2 Skylander.

  • Advice for Experiments:
  • Choose levels randomly and not your prefered one.
  • To really test out the Skylanders usefulness in Nightmare Mode, choose more difficult and advance levels.

  • Final Disclaimers:
These tiers should not going to effect your game playing style and are here purely as a guideline.

Thanks, I added the F Tier and for which paths?

    EDIT:

  • Jet-Vac / Bird Blaster has been placed in the E Tier

  • I think that Jet-Vac should be in the E-Tier because his Suction Gun brings enemies up close which does low damage and makes him vulnerable to attacks as enemies do more damage in Nightmare Mode. The Vac-Blaster itself is way too weak to really take out any enemies and should not be relied on. And his Jet-Vac Jet Pack doesn't do anything on this path and is only used to move faster or dodge enemies. I think that if further research has been made he may be moved furhter down to the F-Tier, but for now we'll keep him at the E-Tier.

    Uhhh...

Stealth Elf (Pook Blade Saint) for A tier. Very good damage but only close range.
Cynder (Nether Wielder) for D tier. Lightning Breath has short range and Wow-Pow has only little effect.
Tree Rex (Sequoia Stampede) for B tier. Same as SE. The slam also makes enemies have a chance to attack him.
Flameslinger (Marksman) for C tier. Good running away, but takes a long time to kill stronger enemies.
Bash (Pulver Dragon) for S tier. His roll attack does decent damage, and most enemies don't have a chance to attack him. His Wow-Pow is good too, can kill most enemies easily.

Terrafin (Sandhog) in S Tier. His invulnerability during earth swim (which can be extended thanks to his Wow Pow) and the massive damage from spamming the mini-sharks and body slams is just too good for this.

I hope this thread goes far, because i've always thought that having some sort of single player tier list in this forum would be useful.
I kept thinking of trying to run one myself alongside the PvP tier list, but I always imagined it would be too hard to operate because of how most Skylanders on all paths are designed to be usable in single player, so it would be too hard to be certain how much one Skylander is better than another.
Because you've made your single player tier list only apply to Nightmare Mode, I reckon things will be a lot more functional. The nightmare mode environment should make the strengths and weakness of each character more distinguished, though it may also reveal some interesting biases further down the line as well. Perhaps a bias towards combat-dodging characters like Terrafin / Sandhog, maybe? We don't know, but it'd be great if we find out! smilie

I don't play Nightmare Mode myself, so I won't be able to contribute to this thread. All I can do is recommend that you distinguish between the Series One and Series Two variants of each character, as Wow Pow powers can sometimes make a massive difference on a character's usability.

I'll distinguish the paths between the Series 1 and Series 2, that makes sense as Terrafin's Wow Pow really improves his Sandhog Path

I disagree with Bird Blaster smilie in E tier, I'd rather move him to B tier or even A. Bird Blaster is really crappy in PVP, but it's very good for Story and Nightmare Mode. His Gun can pierce right through enemies and hit multiple targets so it's good for when a group of enemies (Mostly Arkeyans) is charging towards you. The maximum damage only increases by 4, but it's not your main upgrade. The best part about Bird Blaster is the Super Shot, suck up some weaker enemies like Arkeyan Jousters or Chompies and then use the Shot on Bigger, More Powerful Enemises for 60 damage per shot, VERY helpful for bosses and Arkeyan Shield Juggernauts.

The only Problem is that that your jet pack doesn't last long on this path (but you can use the suction gun to reload energy fast) and smilie is really slow in terms of walking speed, so it's not easy escaping for food if ya need to.

Also, I recommend placing Super Shards Flashwing smilie in E tier, she's just awful in story mode.

    1. Low HP, even though she has a lot of armor her health is low and she dies pretty fast from 5 hits from enemies.

    2. Weak attacks, her strongest one is Luminous Lasers for 56 damage, but it has to be charged up.

    3. The Wall Shards do LOTS of damage if all 3 shoot 1 enemy, but they have poor accuracy and only shoot in one direction, plus you can only have 3 at a time in walls.

    3. The Wall Shards (as the name suggests) need walls to get use from and not everywhere has em, so it's very useless against bosses.

For Jet-Vac, the Suction Gun also brings enemies way too close to him allowing them to hit him with attacks and his Vac-Blaster is too weak to take out powerful enemies. And you may not find weak enemies on ever level. His low damage makes him an easy target to strong enemies that deals lots of damage. I guess until further research is made, I'll move him to the C-Tier, but he can be moved up or down later.

Also I took your suggestion for Flashwing into consideration, I'll put her in the E-Tier for now, we'll look further into this path later.

    Thanks for your help LightSpyro!

  • Flashwing / Super Shards placed in the E-Tier

I also recommend placing Harpooner S2 Gill Grunt in A tier and Burning Bow Wow! Hot Dog in A as well (He barely makes it though).

With the Wow Pow, Gill Grunt's Anchor Cannon shoots off 3 Tridents for 56 damage to enemies, it also pierces through them and hits new targets. His damage output is so heavy and it annihilates everything fast, even some of the toughest enemies like Trog Wanderers. His Harpoons are soo helpful, his only problems are his very low armor and his hose run out of water. He's in trouble if enemies get close, although one shot from the hose should knock them back.

My gameplay videos should help support my (and other people's) suggestions, although I play on Hard Mode instead of Nightmare Mode (Well at least it's kinda close, right?) since I haven't gotten that far, soon I will play on Nightmare as I get farther.
    .

As for smilie, Like Gill Grunt he has High Damage and is fast but extremely low armor.

I really don't agree with some of these.

    1. Pulver Dragon is NOT S tier at all. The roll only does 40 damage and it doesn't even tick damage continuously, many enemies easily have a chance to attack you because you are VERY big and easy to hit. The Wow Pow is the only great part, I recommend dropping him down to B tier.

    2. S2 Cynder Nether Welder is FAR from D tier. She does not have a lot of health; but her lightning is medium-long ranged (You're Wrong!) and hits a big group of enemies, it also ticks damage fast. You can also spam the shadow dash for a quick getaway (you can hurt while using it though) and have the ghosts help you fight. The Wow Pow leaves you a bit vulnerable but it does whopping damage when you spam it in close range and it has ok knockback. Move her to B as well.

    3. Tree Rex is easily A tier on Treefolk Charger, he still has the Photosynthesis Cannon for long range and he racks up damage very fast and as a Giant, he has a lot of HP. His attacks are a bit slow though.

    4. Marksman Flameslinger is D tier, he doesn't run as fast as he used to without the Wow Pow and his attacks are very weak. Marksman is fun, but his low damage and low armor are kinda pathetic.

Why yes I did, I make my own Skylander reviews and I am open for requests (as long as I have that character). I didn't play on Nightmare mode in them because I'm still on the easy levels and need to progress further, although there's a 50% chance I'll die.

But anyways, I have yet another 2 recommendations: S2 Stump Smash Nut Crafter for S tier and S2 Prism Break Crystaleer for A tier. Both have Wow Pows that do massive damage and are long-ranged, they also have above average armor and Stump Smash has the highest HP of all the Normal-Sized Skylanders. They are both very slow though and are not very good at making a run for it when needed, Prism Break has the lowest speed of the normal-sized guys.

This is my only video at the time where I made it in Nightmare Mode.

Thumpback is a definite S on both Anchors-A-Yay and Up Close & Personal. He can clear out areas in seconds thanks to the huge range and radius of his standard attacks, and his chomp and standard combo take care of bosses quickly. His belly slide gives him good mobility for both attacking and retreating. If anything, his basic upgrades put him in S alone. It's mostly a toss-up between offense or defense path wise.

Dino-Rang (Grand Boomerang Master) is an S as well. His boomerang shield is his best attack, since it tears through enemies up close while protecting him from enemy projectiles as well. As gimmicky as his sticky boomerang soul gem is, being able to grab food items at a distance comes in handier more often than you'd think.

Ghost Roaster (Skull Master) likely falls into B-tier. His Skull Charge hits once and doesn't do a lot of damage, but it's great for taking out lesser enemies and creating lots of ghosts. Being able to eat ghosts at a moments notice is handy, and having them help attack is also good as well. The only reason I'm reluctant to say he's better than B is that he has a hard time against certain bosses. He has awesome mobility for avoiding attacks, but he's average damage wise. He fares much better in boss fights that spawn mooks for both damage and health.

What mkes stump smash good is the fact that the enemies attack the ACORNS not you. It keeps em away, and he has high health.

I also recomend s2 drill sergeant megadozer in S because of his ability to whittle health off of huge enemies while running away/dodging. S2 flameslinger pyromancer would also be S, as i have beaten the whole kaos level AND the boss fight only taking 221 dmg. No switching characters the whole ti e.

S1 SotF Ignitor for B tier. While you're firing flame mortars or controlling the flame form you're open to attack. Has high damage though.

I really think that we should just place them in tiers now, and discuss later. I will include a short reason:

Shroom boom paramushroom promotion: i would say A, the falling paratroopers rule and murder big enemies in seconds

S1 gill grunt: maybe C? He isnt the best, not the worst.

S2 ignitor blademaster: A, he is better than SoTF in story, 42 dmg swings are hard to ignore.

Do you think it's a good idea to put a Temporary-Tier for the unsorted Skylanders? And which path for S1 Gill Grunt?

  • Shroomboom / Paramushroom Promotion placed in the A-Tier
  • S2 Ignitor / Blademaster placed in the A-Tier

I would put All 4 Gill Grunts in F tier. They are the worst Skylanders there are, entirely weak and slow and without armor.

I would put Shroomboom Paramushroom Promotion in S tier, because he is very powerful, and is fast as well.

Don't listen to weebey, she's/he's just being biased because of her/his deep hatred for Gill Grunt and probably stinks with him. I should know, I've seen a bunch of her/his comments revolving around that. Remember this rule you posted:

I pick Water Weaver and Harpooner both for C like X-Treme Says. He is really fast and does good damage, but his jet pack is annoying to control and his anchor cannon is hard to aim without the wow pow; plus as should be noted: He and Hot Dog are tied for the lowest armor in the game. His overall damage and long range compensate for these though.

As for Shroomboom Paramotion Promotion, keep him in A. Yes his attacks do a lot of damage really fast, but his health and armor are below average and he is slow-moving, plus his Mushroom Ring attack is completely useless unless you take the Barrier Boost path.

Zook is A borderline S. very strong and the enemies target his cacti. I like to use what i call the "dynamic duo" consisting of smilie and smilie for bosses. It murders kaos in under 2 minutes.

I gave reasons. And he is fast, and his Mushroom Ring is useless on BOTH paths.

You call this a reason? You hardly described anything all you did was say he's slow and weak, and he is in neither of those 2 worlds. That's hardly anything, I doubt you're even using him the right way. He's pretty fast with the Jet Pack (although it only faces in 1 direction) and his attacks are oh so powerful. His drawbacks are just his low armor (I'll give you that, but still not enough for F-tier cuz Armor isn't the most important stat) and poor aim for his jet pack and anchor cannon (Series 1 Only).

Plus considering how I've seen like 15 comments of your stating your hate for him, you are definately being biased, don't deny it man/miss (whatever you are). Not trying to put you down or something, but still.

He actually is, and his attacks are weak, and rack up slowly.

You call this weak and slow?

EDIT: And actually no, I changed my mind. I hate to say it, but I recommend dropping S2 Harpooner smilie down to B tier and placing S2 Water Weaver in A instead. I made a mistake, he's not that good on the Harpoon path.

On this path, the damage for the Harpoons only increase by about 5 or 6 I think and the Jet Pack doesn't last very long and he's average in speed (The Wow Pow does more damage on Harpooner though). Water Weaver gives great knockback in close range, REAL increased damage, Jet Pack is infinite and gives him speed; and Starfish great for spamming against bosses and bigger, slow-moving enemies.

He has low armor but his High Damage, Long Range, and good Critical Hit save Harpooner from C and under; but I was wrong about the A tier thing. Sorry, Water Weaver belongs there though.

X-Treme which path, or do you mean both, and is it Series 1 or 2?

  • S1 Gill Grunt / Both Paths placed in the C-Tier
  • S2 Gill Grunt / Harpooner dropped down to B-Tier
  • S2 Gill Grunt Water Weaver / placed in the A-Tier

Flashwing on super spinner for S tier, yeah I know she has low numbers in a few stats, but if you use her the right way, she's a MONSTER! I solo'd bringing order to kaos and the final boss with only her on nightmare mode!

^ Sorry man but no..... just no! She's good, but definitely not S!

    1. Low HP (biggest weakness)

    2. Average speed.

    3. Weak attacks and racks up damage slowly.

She should be.... A or B.

Fright Rider Joust Jockey for A tier! He's a beast on this path, he's really good.

His Jousting Charge does 42 damage alone, and it makes him VERY fast and he has a quick getaway. His melee attacks are good too, though the Burrow Bomber attack is a little useless (it leaves you vulnerable). His 360 Degrees of Spear chops you right in the face for an additional 22 damage and is very fast and accurate.

The only problems are his low armor and his Entombment Strike attack. The Entombment Strike does 116 damage to enemies, but it's very hard to aim and it leaves you open for enemies to attack for a moment, it's not very good when you're surrounded by a bunch of enemies.
