Yeah, it is funny. But ... just an FYI for those that find them on the shelves this week - it is register locked for 3/23 (Sunday). Finding some on the shelves is not unusual, it does not warrant a new thread. You won't be able to buy it until Sunday, so don't waste your time trying or seeing if you can talk the employee into it. They can lose their job if they use a different figure to ring it up. This won't be like the swappers after Christmas and they sell out early, those were NOT register locked - so don't worry.

How was the Street Date broken when it wasn't sold?

It wasn't. I think the guy that made the video considered them putting them out as a street date break. I personally don't consider it to be broken since the register halted the sale. This sort of thing happens all the time at stores, with games, movies, etc. An employee made a mistake, no big deal. I'm sure some people will get all upset that something is on the shelf they cannot buy yet, but I find it funny that typically it is often the exact same people that get all upset when they show up on release day (like with Wave 3 swappers) and they are sold out because the register didn't prevent it. We cannot have it both ways. Either they stop the sale at the register and have the items on release date, or they allow it and potentially are sold out on the actual release date. These are close to minimum wage, HUMAN employees - mistakes are made and often they have little info and are simply trying to put out stock. Expecting them to flawlessly know the release day for every item (and the electronics section has *tons* of street dated items every week with games and movies) is unreasonable. Personally, I like it when the register prevents sale. It covers for stocking mistakes and ensures street dates are kept. Like with Nitro Freeze Blade, I know I don't have to keep going by Target, I can show up on Sunday and they will have it - end of story. No muss, no fuss. Not that I think it will be a problem to find these anyways given that Freeze Blade is already out and many people won't buy both, not to mention the fact that variants have been really easy to get this year and seem to last a long time. |
