Ok, so this girl at my school sent nudes to a few people, and we're friends. She sent them to people who didn't go to our school, and now everyone knows. She is now getting bullied a lot because of it, and the school is going to suspend her, yet it had nothing to do with the school, so why should she be suspended? We were talking, and she said her parents are so mad and she's so depressed and she admits it's stupid and she shouldn't have done it, but why the **** did the school get involved? It's none of their freaking business. Ugh, do you guys think it was right for the school to suspend her for sending nudes to kids that go to a different school?

Well, where I live you can get suspended for beating someone up at like....a park or something. And there was a teacher that got fired because some kids hacked to see some very intriguing photos on a social networking thing. So schools can do stuff.

So in my opinion, she should just accept the punishment that comes with her actions. It doesn't matter if the other kids went to a different school she still sent the nudes soo...

The school is kinda a place to grow people up so it has a little to do with it as well. However, suspending would be too harsh in my opinion.

Also I'm surprised that no one has asked for the pics here yet xD

I don't think she should get suspended, however the school does have a right to get involved. You must understand that she is a student that is representing your school. To send those pics to students at another school, disrespects your school. It was really a stupid thing for her to do. Her parents do have a right to be really upset with her. Depending on her age, this could be a criminal act. What made her do this? Who did she send the pics to? In a way I feel sorry for her, but on the same note, why did she do something this stupid?

The school shouldn't get involved. The only way for it to be a school affair is uf either
A. She sent it to a teacher to get a good grade
Or
B. She sent it to EVERY STUDENTVAT SCHOOL.

And you've already confirmed neither condition is the case.

Well, it is a very bad thing, as she basically created child porn (If she is under 18 obviously, not sure if she is or not) and sending them to those people can get them into serious trouble, as they now poses child porn (Again, if It applies) Like thumper says, the school has right to get into it as she represents the school. Might be a little selfish, yeah, but still. It is a serious crime, and suspension is actually pretty low punishment for getting caught.

If she distributed it, it's child porn, which is a criminal offense. Since she broke the law, the school kinda has to get involved. I can't say whether it's right or wrong, but it's the law.

Well if the students went to the same school then I could understand them taking action in the situation even if it wasn't done at school. Like at my job I can get fired for posting anything negative about my work or anything to do with the people who work there on Facebook, even if I do it at home, but the fact that they don't go to that school doesn't really make sense. It's kind of like someone committing a crime in Mexico and then the USA tries to punish them for it. I don't think the school should get involved as it's not a school matter, but rather her parents should take action. There might be more to the story then she has let on, but from what you know and have said, I don't agree with the school wanting to suspend her for something that didn't take place in school.

Here's the thing, when a teacher is discovered to have child porn, schools fire said teacher even if the porn is at the person's private home. Then that person gets arrested, which they should. It's the same thing with this girl. She basically sent child porn, and as thumper said, she's a student, so she represents the school. Schools have to take action when students do something that is a criminal act. Besides, they usually have you sign this form at the beginning of the year that gives you a set of rules, and if you don't follow these rules, you will be punished for it (my school had this anyway). If your school had something like that and she signed it, yeah they have a right to punish her.
It's like Amanda Todd all over again. People really should think before doing things like that. Hopefully her parents do something about it (yes, they also have a right to punish her. They are her parents, and as long as she isn't 18, they can do whatever the hell they want) and keep an eye on her, since you say she's being bullied and becoming depressed. I don't think she should be bullied for it, and it's good that she knows what she did wrong... but maybe next time she won't let her hormones (or whatever prompted her to do that) get the best of her.

So, last year, near the end of the school year, some girl, in our school, sent a BUNCH of pics of herself, not just to some people who didn't go to our school, but, EVERY SINGLE guy she he ever dated, and even some others.

Long story short, if ot had been like that, THEN, and only then, should've the school got involved.

Yeah.

My brother got expelled from his old school because he hacked someone's Facebook account and posted about bombing somewhere. After the police found out it was him and arrested him, the administrators expelled him even though it had nothing to do with their school. Funny enough, the school relocated soon after.

When you commit a criminal offense, the school is legally obligated to do something about it. Though I don't think your brother should've been expelled (he obviously wasn't serious about it), the school was not in the wrong by taking action.

Distributing the nude pictures counts as child porn, which is a felony. I don't know if she should be expelled or suspended, but the school should definitely get involved.

She's cutting herself now? I understand venting by being mad at yourself, but it's beyond me how anyone could ever think it's a good idea to really harm themselves.

People tell me it makes you "feel better". **** that ****, it might (for some odd reasons) provide comfort for a moment, but it leaves scars (mental and physical) that might never heal and just makes your problem bigger. It's like trying to cure alcoholism by drinking more alcohol.

When you see your friend next time tell her to get help. Hell, help her to get help. She'll thank you later.

The school should definitely get involved.

What she did could be considered against the law and as a student the school has a sort of obligation to handle the issue especially now that she has resorted to cutting herself (more on that later). I'm aware that schools usually shouldn't handle business that doesn't happen on school grounds but considering that she is being bullied for it and these pictures have found their way to the internet likely because of people in the school or people within the same school district, something has to be done and there should be punishment on both sides.

However, a suspension is not the right punishment for her, and seems more fitting for the people that spread it around and put it on the internet. Sending nudes would normally be worthy of something like a suspension but when it's spread out by other people in other schools, it became beyond her control (though of course she had the control to NOT send them in the first place). I suppose it depends on if she's the only one getting any sort of punishment.

People saying that the school is terrible for getting involved..........well............she sent nudes to people. And she's getting bullied. What do you expect to happen? Some might say that it should be left up to the parents to deal with, but if she's getting harassed in school for it the parents are eventually going to turn to the school to handle the issue. The parents wouldn't be able to do anything that isn't in violation of either school policy or the law. And of course her parents aren't going to be able to get those nudes off the internet.

And like it or not, but if she's sending nudes to other people, she IS in some way disrespecting the school. And if the school did nothing and let other people handle it, it would send the message that the school in some way tolerates this sort of behavior. Of course they probably wouldn't, but not taking any sort of action says otherwise.

As for her cutting herself for this one incident, I think she's overreacting. It sounds as though all of this has developed within the past week and she has already decided that the bullying is so bad that she needs to harm herself and risk her life? Not to sound rude or terrible but................come on.
She needs to get help as soon as possible so that she doesn't continue this behavior and maybe move on from this whole ordeal. Her harming herself also makes it all the more necessary for the school to get involved and have her see the school counselor or therapist.

Yeah... call me heartless if you want, but I don't feel bad for people when they get themselves into situations like that. I was mostly talking about the younger teens, like when I was in high school, the underclassmen were horrible, especially last year's freshmen... Oh my God they were like demons... And apparently there's a sophomore this year who has been trying to get pregnant since she was in the sixth grade, and now that she is pregnant, she doesn't even know who the father is...

Those are just a couple examples of what I was talking about... but yes you're right, I am a part of this generation... unfortunately... >.>
It's like every year it gets worse and worse... maybe because I'm getting older and maturing... but I don't remember my classmates being half as bad... I dunno...

Anyway, hopefully the girl has learned her lesson about all of this..

Well I had an ex friend who did some dodgy stuff on webcam at that age and it got out. She was terribly bullied and had to move schools.

People don't let this kind of stuff live down. I'll be very surprised if that happens.

She'll probably end up having to move to a different school where no one knows her to start again. If not then be constantly depressed and bullied.

It was stupid of her to send them, but 13 year olds are easily influenced to do this kind of thing. Someone asked me when I was 13 and thought about it but decided not to.

Anyway she'll regret the cutting as she'll have a load of scars up her arm for the rest of her life, ruining her skin. It will also be a constant reminder of what she did every time she sees them. Really stupid thing to do. I hope she doesn't want to be a model or actress.
