And what law are you reading that states an internet age limit? I read the age limits on the Curse terms of service and they didn't mention anything about laws, just personally identifiable information.

The law is COPPA. You can look it up yourself (and refer back to some earlier conversations on this forum), but, basically, in order to collect any information from someone under 13 (including, say, an e-mail address for registration), a website has to have written consent from the legal guardian. This law applies to all websites hosted within the US (which Curse servers are based out of Atlanta) and even has some crazy international issues.

This is why virtually every site, forum, etc., has the "over 13" rule in the terms and conditions - the ones that don't virtually always collect *no* personal information. If you remember Skylanders Universe (the online webgame), when you signed up, you had to pick from zany names that couldn't identify you to someone who didn't already know you - instead of being allowed to create a personalized nickname?

I believe that this issue has been summed up very nicely. Some of these kids are or can be a bit of a handful at times, but there also some who aren't, like Eevee88 for example.

As older members of the forums, we should be setting an example for them, if anything at all.

I think they act like this because they think that the internet is a new world that you can vent things in. They think that they can be "cool" on the internet by copying what bad influences do. But they need to understand that the internet isn't for venting what they want to say may not be the nicest thing, for all we know they could be bullied at school and think that the internet can make a better version of themselves who is "cooler", "smarter", and "funny".
