Craig's List Price Check? [CLOSED]

So... I've never really gotten into the secondary market for Skylanders. In spite of my collection, pretty much everything was bought retail, aside from a few overseas exclusives.

The collection is getting to be rather massive at this point, so I've decided to thin out the various duplicates I've picked up over the past couple of years. Anyone care to shoot me a guesstimate of what I'm looking at getting for selling the lot as a whole on Craig's List? I know I'm taking a bit of a loss by selling it as a lot and only selling via Craig's List instead of eBay, but I figure this is the most painless way to do it... smilie

All figures are carded, although a few are damaged (mentioned below)

From Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure
Stump Smash - Flocked
Wham Shell
Boomer
Bash - Toys R Us exclusive Blue Version. Three of these, one is in pretty smooshed shape, as it was shipped in an envelope by Toys R Us.
Wrecking Ball - He's managed to escape the plastic shackles inside his package, so paint has rubbed off onto the plastic bubble.
Dark Spyro - The shipper also mailed him from the UK in an envelope, so his package is a little crushed.
Gill Runt - (in a baggie, of course)

From Skylanders: Giants:
Golden Drangonfire Cannon Battle Pack - GameStop exclusive
Lightcore Hex - Two of these.
Lightcore Shroomboom - no motto version.
Jade Flashwing - Target Exclusive
Gnarly Tree Rex - This one has been somewhat opened on the side of the package. Never been removed though.
Fright Rider - Frito Lay "Halloween" exclusive - Two of these.
Flameslinger - Error - the paper insert inside is for Bash.

From Skylanders: SWAP Force:
Nitro Magna Charge & Rattle Shake 2 Pack - Target Exclusive
Legendary Night Shift - Toys R Us Exclusive
Legendary Free Ranger - Toys R Us Exclusive
Grilla Drilla
Hoot Loop - with misprinted motto

The only thing I've ever planned on buying from Craig's List was a Chrome Spyro... for $50.

I haven't even heard back from the seller.

Craig's List sucks. All I've gotten is low-ball offers on the more hard-to-find figures pieced out and scam messages.

I would say your best bet is to go check eBay for individual prices to guide your CL listing.

Probably the Halloween Fright Riders and the Flocked Stump Smash are the most valuable. The Boomer and Blue Bashes are also worth a bit. Those together are probably in the $230+ range. Some people are misprint collectors, so those might be worth a bit to them. If you have the patience (and boxes), eBay is the much better choice IMO. You could put up the whole collection with a reserve as well - there are a few big ticket ones that go that way.

I actually find eBay to be the easier, less-profitable alternative. No negotiating, set sale date, eBay/PayPal handles the money, and I find shipping a box to be easier than coordinating a meetup with a stranger. And while final price is often lower on craigslist, there are no fees or shipping costs; so I find eBay to usually be less profitable.

The only time I ever sell on craigslist instead of eBay is if the item I'm selling is too large/heavy to ship at a reasonable price.

I cannot stand Craigslist for anything (haven't used it for selling Skylanders). Endless inquiries from low ballers or just pointless "questions", spam, people that never respond, people that don't show up, try to alter the deal in person, etc. I've sold a few things over it over time, but it is far more hassle than EBay, less guarantees and protections, and you have to meet people (who often times are skeevy or unreliable) even though you can sometimes make a bit more and don't have to deal with shipping. EBay you sometimes have to deal with scammers that take advantage of not being in person (Internet anonymity, yay!) or people that simply cannot read.

Ranking down even worse than Craiglist are local forums. My wife posted some stuff on a local Mommy forum and 75% of the responses wanted the stuff for free and had some sob story or another (probably people looking to turn it around on EBay). Only good experience we had was selling a outdoor playset/swingset, my wife wanted to put it up cheap, but I made her bump up the price. We had so many responses within minutes and a person at our house to pick it up, cash in hand a couple hours later. Still kicking myself though because it was obviously worth more, but hey it got rid of it so I'm not mad. And yes, despite getting $250 for it (which was apparently too little, based on the response), we still had some people ask for us to deliver it and give it to them for FREE.

All in all, I'm not really the "sales" type anyways, if I'm selling something I'm typically just trying to get rid of something I don't want anymore, not trying to maximize profits. I had a neighbor once tell me I wasn't haggling enough at a yard sale and I explained that the point of a yard sale is to turn my clutter into YOUR clutter, and maybe get a few bucks for letting you haul it off. smilie

I'm the same way. I just want to get rid of the stuff with the least amount off hassle. eBay is usually ends up being the best option. But in some cases, even eBay is too much of a hassle; and I'll just trade-in at GameStop for really cheap, or just donate.
