I think it is when a dragon has babys. So a dragon who has a baby is one generatoin and that baby dragon grows up and has a baby so that is 2 generations then that baby grows up and has a baby so that is 3 generations and so on.

Whell the year of the dragon comes once ever 12 years, and Spyro (Who's 12) Is a little young for that so I'de say 24 years.

i say a purple dragon comes every 1000 years.
1 generation = 100 years
10 generations x 100 years = 1000 years.

Sorry about my other comment. I thought you said what is a dragon generation.

I think about 30 years for a normle dragon to be born. Its 10 gernerations for a purple dragon to be born so 30+30+30+30+30+30+30+30+30+30=300. So 300 years for a purple dragon to be born. O.O
