We all know that at the end of Spyro's Adventure, the Core of Light destroyed the Darkness. But it didn't. Light doesn't simply destroy Darkness, it repels it. But at the start of this game, the Darkness comes back to Kaos, but it's doing it its own way this time. The cutscene is as follows:

Kaos walks up and down his room, his mother called him back home for a family dinner. Which Kaos sceptically agreed to. He wondered why his mother called him here.

"Kaos, dear?" his mother asked from downstairs, "We have a visitor for you."

"Who is it now?" Kaos mumbled to himself.

He saw a man in a black hooded robe, with skeletal shoes on his feet. From what Kaos saw, he could've had no face at all.

"Hello," the figure droned in a low voice, "My old ally. Remember when last we worked together, against those pesky Skylanders? Well I do, and it ended with you being an incompetent fool and having your little pet of a Hydra being defeated like ants under Eon's foot. Well now I have returned, and I'm going to do things, My way."

"I still don't know who you are." Kaos argued.

"But my friend," the shadow of a man replied, "I am more of a what than a who. After all, I am everywhere. Except those Ruins you promised me. But I will find a different tactic. And I like to call it, Possession."

The man disappears and Kaos falls to the floor. When Kaos stands up again, his eyes are glowing black and he says:

"The Darkness is back."


Dun, dun, duuuuuuuun. So after Eon goes through all of the basics, you find yourself in the Ruins, where you find all of the good ol' original characters like Auric, Hugo, Cali, and, as always, Flynn. You also discover new areas there, along with new characters, and of course, new Skylanders. There's only 1 new type of skylander for each element, that I call, the Shadow Squad. They were once minions of Kaos, but left when he was possessed by the Darkness. Shadow Kaos then cursed them by Evilizing them, but they still managed to join the Skylanders. Seeing they had powers that only Kaos has, Eon joined them up immediately. I also decided that there are 8 favorite Skylanders from the first game and 8 of them that didn't get a new remake in Giants. They will have remakes in this game.
