I've only watched an hour of the debate. Ken's use of the term "different dog species" is appalling. There's a significant difference between the two. The term breed is commonly used when discussing the variation of animals within a species that has been selectively bred by humans. Species is used to discuss a group of animals that share similar characteristics that can breed with each other and produce fertile offspring.

By saying different dog species, for example, it's as if he's saying that a Poodle and Labrador mating together will produce Labradoodle puppies that are infertile (cannot breed and produce their own young.) however, that is not true because Labradoodle can breed with another dog and produce fertile young. The Labrador breed and the Poodle breed originate from the same species.

Feel free to correct me on any fact I may have wrong.
