I think New Zealand is pretty great. Awesome kind people, fairly free civilly (gay marriage and prostitution are legal, weed still is not), pretty accepting of other nationalities, free health care, social services (with no money/time caps on unemployment) and a lots of natural beauty.

On the whole, Australia seems to take after the USA and New Zealand tends to take after Canada.

Suggesting that you're more free than N. Korea hardly lends any credence to the US being a nice place to hang out.

For every Syria there is a Norway.

America isn't the worst nation out there by a long shot but it's also a relatively conservative nation and it's starting to show a fair few problems within the government, educational system, and economy that might make people want to live elsewhere.

P.S. Just because someone would rather live elsewhere doesn't make them a nimrod.
