Only certain PS1 games play on PS3? [CLOSED]

So yeah, I was trying to play Final Fantasy VIII (PS1 game) and it wouldn't load past the Sony PS logo on my 500GB PS3. So, now I'm wondering if there's other PS1 games that dont play on the PS3..has anyone else had this problem? /:

EDIT: Just incase anyone thinks the game is faulty; it's not as it plays on PS2 perfectly.

I've seen that - but it only shows the games playable on the 60/80GB console, doesn't it? (which is able to play most PS2 games) /:
