Power A Over-the-Door Storage [CLOSED]

Does anybody have one of these? If so, what are your thoughts? Seems like the most space efficient solution, while also making all your characters easily accessible. I don't have a door in the room that I play, so I'm thinking of putting hooks on the wall. Would that work?

Oh, wow that's pretty neat! Though it doesn't look like it would be good for storing Swappers or Giants, unless you put them in the pouch (unless the elastics stretch to accommodate the giants). And given the fragility of some of the thinner characters like Hex and Chill, I'd worry about accidentally pulling limbs off when snatching them out of the elastics.

For what it's worth, I bought some ornament storage cases from Walmart and Target after Christmas for about $7-9 each. The smaller Target ones fit about 32+ core figures apiece, but I had to customize the cardboard dividers somewhat. The ones from Wal-Mart are slightly larger and hold & organize the swappers perfectly.

My son saw one of those around Christmas and wanted one. He got a case for Christmas, so I debated on letting him spend his Christmas money on it. But, I had to wonder where to hang it. He wanted it for his bedroom door, but we play the game in our family room, which is downstairs. I thought it was a great idea, and even my son liked it, but we really didn't want it hanging up somewhere in our family room.

Corn_Hornet, I thought about the ornament storage. I saw some at an Aldi and wondered how well they would work. I sort of like the case my son got for Christmas (it's the Carry & Display case), but it doesn't hold them all. I was hoping there were more dividers included to give more versatility, but there wasn't. Other than that, I like it a lot. Christmas storage usually doesn't get marked down much (at least I keep missing it), since people tend to need them after Christmas and they don't include them in the Christmas markdowns. But still, it might be a cheaper option than an official Skylanders case, although I like the padded sides of the case. I might have to check them out, though.

If you really want the convenient storage, it's not the worst option, although on some Skylanders it's really bad... Like on Chill (the S1 version) for example, no matter what way you put her, she's going to "squish" somehow. Some you need to put at really awkward angles or they fall off. Also most of the Giants don't fit in too well. Others like Voodood fit in perfectly, though. I dunno about the SWAP Force.
smilie I think if you're not terribly worried about the condition of your toys I would recommend it... It's good for keeping them in one spot, though it's kind of fiddly to actually take them out and put them in... otherwise, just get a shelf or something. IMO the bands on this hanger are a little too tight.

Hmm.. I think I'll hold off on it. In theory, it seems like a great solution, but I don't won't to put any of my figures at risk of breaking.

Yeah, you're right, the ornament storage tends not to get marked down much, if at all. Target did have the $9.99 Sterlite stackable ornament storage boxes for $7 the week after Christmas, so that's what I bought. The dividers inside are cardboard and create only 12 sections per tray when assembled, but with some extra cardboard and scissors I was able to turn it into 16 sections per tray. It fits the corelanders really well...the only one that I needed to lay down was Fright Rider. I do like the official Skylanders cases though, but they're a little cost-prohibitive...I already spent enough on these darn things!! smilie

We just have a corner of the basement set aside for our Stanely organizers. Assuming you dont care about "looks" as much, we manage to get around 16-20 Skylanders a piece into the boxes. We use the stickers that come with the figures to mark the tops, and various others stickers around the sides to decorate them up a bit more. They stack easily and the only real issue is a few of the Giants figures and the way they are shaped. Makes it awkward to fit them in even if you remove some of the dividers. At $10 or less a pop, they are generally far cheaper too, as most the other storage devices with "Skylanders" slapped on the side are double or more in price, and half the quality.

The one at Ace is a different style model. Probably why its cheaper.

As for the one I posted about, Lowes and Target also have them. I don't however currently see that model on Target's website.

I saw it on sale at Best Buy for $22.49. I figured I'd try it out. Seems to work well so far. There are a couple figures that didn't feel secure, so I put them in the bottom pocket. The pic below only has a handful of figures because the rest are either at my desk (being played with), or still in their packaging (I don't open until I start playing with them). But even with just these figures, it has already freed up a lot of space.

I have more figures than it can hold as well, so I purchased a second one. I was hoping to get the Giants version, but it's $15 more at TRU.

Well I was wrong, Donatron. It looks like it holds the swappers and giants pretty well! It was hard to tell how big the straps were from the Power A website photo.

I really like those Ikea frame shelves, though.

Ya, the shelves are definitely a much nicer solution. But what I like about the hangers is that they are easily expandable, and can be easily removed without leaving much of a footprint (when I inevitably become bored with Skylanders).

The Shelves don't leave much of a footprint.......3 screws to hold them on the wall......you could probably just use two even as the seem extremely sturdy with the right hardware. Also when you are done with Skylanders they are perfect picture shelves that can be used all around the house.....I plan on using them in my daughters room for her sports trophies, pictures, books etc etc when the Skylanders need to be stored. The shelves can spaced apart however you please.

I wasn't trying to insult your shelves, I said that they were a nicer solution. The hangers are just a more temporary solution, making them a better fit for me. 2 pin-sized holes per hanger is still a smaller footprint than 2-3 screws per shelf. Plus it takes less than a minute to take down. And there's no need to try to re-purpose it afterwards; just taken them down and be done with it.

Again, not saying anything bad about your shelves.

Oh I didn't take your comment as an insult or anything.....just saying that I don't think the shelves are much of a footprint and can be useful after being used for Skylanders is all.

I got one of them and it works pretty good. I tested it with my magic skylanders and was able to fit all of the ones I currently have. There was some room left over so I should be able to get each element in one box. I found that Target has them and since I get a discount I'll probably buy them there since they are the cheapest place I have found.
