I have stuff pretty much just thrown here and there and everywhere. I am looking to spend some time re-organizing my islands. The major question I have is do I keep the stuff that gives me XP every 20 seconds to 10 minutes or sell that and get stuff that is every two hours or more? I know fisheries are a good source of XP that don't take up a huge amount of space I have quite a few of those but other than that I have stuff that is small and gives small XP or huge that gives OK xp for the space.
Thoughts, Comments, Concerns?

If you're willing to part with stuff, then the shorter stuff (like seconds or even minutes) is probably worth getting rid of. How long they go for depends on how often you play. If you only play every few hours, then buildings that take less than that will just go to waste. If you check every hour and don't mind clicking all the buildings, then 1 hour buildings may be OK for you (if you have room). The 2 hour minimum may be ideal, too, since Quigley can only be used every 2 hours, if you don't want to click everything.

Is your goal to make attractive islands, efficient xp, most buildings possible?
Personally I'm fitting somewhere between the last two, I'm just too lazy to really organize the xp modifiers, mostly because I like the building groupings I've got now. But what you do depends on what your goals are. |

I like to keep at least a couple of the shorter ones for when I get collection quests

I am going mostly for efficient XP. I have Fiznik so that helps. I will probably get rid of most of my smaller stuff. I play a lot right now but, I go back to work on Saturday after being off for three months so my play time will decrease dramatically.

Before i reached level 40 I used to keep mailboxes and flip them while I was watching tv shows. Its totally boring but if you want some xp I believe that pound for pound mailboxes give more xp than anything else, if you stay on them. If you're lvl 40 I'd be all about fisheries, the xp bar flips faster and you won't wake up in the night tapping mailboxes:-)

Another point to consider is the amount of space used by an item. Fisheries are ok but, in my opinion, Taverns are much better. I don't compare 1 Fishery to 1 Tavern, to me an equal comparison is 2 Fisheries to 3 Taverns (each would occupy 12 spaces), and hands down, 3 Taverns are better.
I made a spreadsheet so that I could properly analyze experience per day and experience per space. As I have started to run low on space, the experience per space has started to mean more to me. https://docs.google.com/spread...eXc&usp=sharing |

@mcquist5: How are you calculating your collections per day?

Collections per day is not a calculation. Its was assigned by me and it will vary for each person. For a 16 hour item (theater), I am assuming that I will only collect once per day but every once in awhile I will time it right and get it twice in one day. Therefore, I have it as 1.25 times per day. I acknowledge that this is arbitrary and should be reassigned by each person depending on how often they check in.

I run my islands just like mcquist.
I optimize my exp around collecting twice a day even if I check in more often. I don't like any of the buildings that I cannot collect from at least twice per day. Those theaters at 16 hours and larger than 2x2 are just dead weight.

Charred and mcquist are my gurus on this board so not shockingly I employ a similar strategy. Also, after playing this game for about nine months, I'm not interested in collecting every hour or so like I was back in the beginning.
Since I'm level 40, have completed all the quests, have all the skylanders and have all but a handful of the companions, the only thing left for me to do in the game (besides get the last few companions--Cali I'm coming for you next!) is organize my islands. I occasionally prune and rearrange stuff, with the goal of setting up good xp generation while still maintaining as much open space as possible. I don't keep any inefficient buildings (with the exception of one chompie gift shop) on my islands. I've gotten rid of all the small houses and the low xp/high frequency collection community buildings too. I'm currently in the process of eliminating stone slab houses and replacing them with wood stack houses, but it takes about a week for me to generate the 20,000000 in gold to buy one of those puppies. I remember visiting islands (don't do that any more for a whole host of reasons) and seeing these strange buildings I thought I'd never seen before. Turns out they were the original hut and mabu cottage that I had long jettisoned! Some people do like to keep one (or a few) of everything, which I get (since I keep my chompie gift shop, snow globe and beach house). If I had more space, I might do that too. I also remember visiting islands and seeing really clever layouts, or in some cases people would use decorations to write messages to visiting friends, which I thought was really cool. Too bad visiting isn't "safe" any more (or at least I'm not confident it's safe so I'm not doing it--also it takes forever).

20 mill a week pretty good.
Wait till you realize you can save space by replacing your BBs with wood stacks

Oh lord, mine are, too. I went through a period of saving everything I won in the well plus all the junk you have to add for quests. My islands look a mess. I just started selling off junk and I need to sit down and do some serious rearranging.

Ditto to having to clean up. What are some ways to make my place more visitor friendly for people trying to collect kudos? I grouped my sanctuaries together like I've seen other people do for my own convenience but figured it's 2 less islands they have to really check. Are there any other buildings/structures I can put with the sanctuaries that won't have kudos popping up on them?
