So I went to Target this morning and they didn't have anything Wave 3, looking for Stink Bomb, Rubble Rouser, and Spy Rise. Can someone fill me in please? Mods feel free to delete this thread but I'd like my question answered first.

You can chat with employees about it. They will happily look in the back.

I personally got them on Wednesday.

Went to my target they didn't have anything stocked. Got the three new ones but was gonna buy some other swap figures but they refused to get them. They said they were in stock but they were not restockers. Told me to come back Monday when the truck came in even though the scanner said it was in stock. Kind of strange

The sixth Target I called had them (the only Super Target). They held one of each for me, and there was only one Stink Bomb left on the shelf by 10:00. The employee told me at 8:15 that they had something like 56 new figures in.

My Target 30 miles away had 24 of each spy rise stink bomb and rubble rouser and they were all locked up in the back storage area. The employees had to go and get some out for me. That was nice of them to do. They didn't have any out on the sales floor.

Checked 3 targets near me 2 had bubkiss (and said they didn't get any in which is unlikely). The third one had them in but I overslept and was only able to get Rubble Rouser and Spy Rise. But atleast 2 of the Targets get trucks in on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. So I'm going to check back bright and early and make sure I can get my Stink Bomb.

Unfortunately, as long as it's been out on the shelves for 15 minutes, if he goes on break, he's allowed to buy them if he wants. It's not very fair, and he's a jerk for it, but that's the breaks. When I worked there, I was able to get a snowy flocked Stump Smash thanks to that.

While this may be true, I'm fairly certain that taunting the patrons that you bought all of the new character and they can't get any now would not be tolerated. That would be the offense that would get him into trouble more than the buying of every single Stink Bomb.

At least my mom is going somewhere tomorrow, or else I might not find the swappers this week. Just to make sure I don't get stuck in a wild goose chase, I am going to call my local Target to see if they have the Swappers. Hopefully so. I want to finish this game soon!

Yes, but management probably frowns on taunting customers. Had you gotten your snowy Stump Smash and then proceeded to laugh directly at customers and tell them you got something they will not then it would have likely been a different story. Also, there is a big difference in buying one and cleaning multiple off the shelves (and probably before they were stocked). All over figures that will not be all that uncommon in a couple weeks when all stores have them. His little bounty will last a hot second and could have put him in a very unfortunate position concerning his employment. If someone chooses to be a scalping douchebag, at least they could try to be a little discreet about it.

Really looks like Target stores royally flubbed-up this release. I'm really disappointed in them, even despite the fact that I secured one Stink Bomb last night.

It's too bad, too. Twleve months ago, I would have definitely said that Target was my preferred retailer for Skylanders. That has changed significantly over the second half of 2013, however.

It's really crappy that Target didn't seem to learn its lessons from how they (poorly) handled the release of Jade Flashwing earlier this year. This release was handled just about as poorly as that one was handled.

Honestly, I would argue it isn't as bad as Jade Flashwing. Yes, the logistics were worse, but at least people are going to be able to find these figures very soon. With that one, if you missed out, they were gone - for good. Target was the only option.

True. I'm glad I ordered Jade Flashwing on Target's site...never once saw her in a store.

Went to two in my area Sunday morning. The first one only had a Spyrise and nothing else. When I asked the associate to check in the back all she brought out was 3 wave 1 boxes and said that is all they had. I showed her the ad and she told me the products from the ad are released on Sundays and Tuesdays and for me to come back Tuesday morning. The second Target had nothing and I had an associate to check the back and was told they had nothing new and to check back on Tuesday as well.

I live in Atlantic Station in Atlanta, Ga. If you aren't familiar, it's an upscale live/work/play community in the midtown area of the city.

So what? I told you that so you'd understand when I say that Target is literally only 500 yards or so from my back door. It's actually further for me to walk to my car in the parking garage than it is to walk to Target.

With the store so close, I am usually there at least once a day, getting groceries, diapers, prescriptions and such. I always check the Skylanders before I pick up anything else, so if Target gets something, I usually see it. They screwed this whole thing up big time. I did get my three new swappers, but I had to drive to another Target about five miles from here to get them.

I checked Friday and was told there was a box in the back, but they insisted it was not the new ones and refused to check. Saturday morning they said there was no box. Saturday evening they had new Boom Jets and Fire Krakens out, along with one Rubble Rouser - but no more in back, according to the employee. Sunday morning they told me they never received any Skylanders that week, and the circular was not proof that the new ones were out (despite the fact that RR was there less than 24 hours before that). This is the same store that refused to sell me a 3DS Giants starter pack on launch day because the Wii U version was delayed, so therefore all versions were delayed. Seriously.

Drove to the other Target yesterday, showed the guy the ad and he brought out a box from the back. I got my three swappers and saw him put the rest of the box out on pegs. In and out in 10 minutes.

I told you guys this story to give those who couldn't get the new ones some hope. Some Targets are good, others aren't. Keep looking and hopefully you'll run across a good one with helpful (truthful?) employees.

Vinz's story is probably more reflective of the wide range of service/competence at Target stores than most of us would like to think.

One would think that there should be some better consistency across Target stores, but it appears that customer service and employee competence varies a LOT from one Target store to the next ... and this is perhaps even more pronounced in the Electronics section.

Finally called one of the 3 targets I had called yesterday and asked if they had a truck in which they do. Then asked if they had gotten Stink Bomb in and low and behold she checked and there was one already out. So apparently the person I asked yesterday had zero clue. Now to wait for the rest of wave 3.

One trick I have learned I don't mind sharing. smilie

When you are trying to get something from a major retailer like Target, Walmart, or even TRU, understand they buy in mass quantities and ship them out to their locations accordingly. While stores that sell more obviously get more, the same fact can work for you in reverse. When I am looking for a hard to find item, I try to identify the demographics of the people buying and then try those places in the areas where the product is least likely to sell. Skylanders isn't sought after by everyone - go where the buyers aren't.

That's good advice, RSmith. For those of us that have time and (gas) money to burn, taking a drive out to the rural areas can definitely yield results (sometimes) on hard-to-find items.

Not everyone has those liberties, though. Target stores really messed it up badly on this Skylanders release. Makes me wish that only retailers that take Skylanders seriously and demonstrate that they can handle a nationwide release would receive exclusives. That's a pipe dream, of course ... no doubt the exclusives go to whichever retailer is willing to pay the most for them ... regardless of how badly they muck-up the release.

This actually worked! I went to Target today, hoping to find a PS3 Giants Starter Pack for $29.99 (unsuccessful). As I was in the area, I went to a Target that was in a low-income area. I was surprised to find this:

[User Posted Image]

Another trick is to look behind the Starter Packs. I went to another Target later this morning (in a nicer area), still trying to find that Starter Pack (unsuccessful again), and they had no Wave 3 Swappers on the pegs. But behind the Starter Packs were Stink Bomb and Rubble Rouser; someone hid them.
