I am considering writing a thank you poem to someone whom I feel thinks I am a bit ungrateful to them. I've heard all sorts of things about how touching and meaningful poetry is to recieve from someone, and that it is an underappreciated art, some people have said that it just "doesn't work". Do you find it to be an effective way of conveying a message to someone?

Just make sure it comes from the heart, and it'll be a winner.

No. To be honest I find it cliché to write poetry to someone and, more importantly, poetry is supposed to be very abstract. It's not supposed to have a clearly defined message that's very easy to decipher. It's supposed to be a break from traditional writing. And if you're trying to convey something, it will get lost in whatever metaphors and imagery you end up using to make the poem a good one. <.<;

Well, I have to agree,
And I must decree, Poetry is good for emotional communication, Also a strengthener for all your relations, But you must take your time, Or it wont be sublime, And you surely must make it rhyme! (Use a dictionary too)

I think writing a poem to someone is sweet, but don't make it too complex or anything because sometimes poems have different meanings to different people.

No, I haven't wrote a thank you poem. I have received a thank you poem in the past. A poem is a way to show exactly what your feelings are and it says more then a simple thank you. I really think you should write that poem to the person you were referring to.^.^ |

Only at ceertain times.
It can be hard whether the poet is expressing his feelings over one thing or whether he is trying to convey an important messag through the means of poetry.
