This is pretty neat for those of you who may have been holding out on the Wii U Bundle. At Newegg.com it's $219.99. For those of you playing at home, that's about $30 off the regular retail price.

That's $80 off retail and $40 off TRS BF prices and free shipping. Not bad if you don't already have a WiiU and are in "want" of a Special Edition WashBuckler.

The gold wash wash bucker from the WiiU bundle just shows up in game as a regular blue washbuckler, right? Or is it an in-game variant?

It's not an in-game variant. It's a regular blue washbuckler with "special" next to the name during the initializing video.

Actually, if you look at this bundle at NewEgg.com page it says:
============================================= Sold and Shipped by: Toys"R"Us & Babies"R"Us Limited Time Offer for Christmas Gift, ends 12/16 ============================================= So, it is a "strange" offer from TRU on NewEgg.com TRU web site itself is offering the same bundle for $250: http://www.toysrus.com/product...ductId=28699576 |

I had assumed that maybe they had a lot of the bundles they're offloading. Or they figured with huge price cuts, TRU will lead in Skylanders sales for the holidays.

I personally have a feeling the bundles aren't moving and they are trying to get them out the door while they can still make Christmas sales. The bundle is outclassed by the Mario & Luigi bundle and the Zelda bundle simply due to those being the more desirable deluxe version. Yeah, I know it isn't that much more memory, but some of the other doodads are nice and a lot of people prefer those games and the modest space increase at a similar cost as the Skylanders bundle (before they dropped the price). Let's face it, if you are a Skylander fan, you probably already had the game, and if you are upgrading to a WiiU the other games aren't things you might already have. If you are buying the WiiU, Mario and Zelda are probably things you like.

Given the lackluster delivery of the Wii version, they should just make this a loss leader to get the casual/kid gamers upgraded ... I'm guessing their target market is going to be alienated after this game if they don't upgrade them...sorry I just don't see a lot of 6-8 year olds typically using a PSx or XBox although the Kinnect system a few years ago snagged our family. But yeah...timing is everything...

I still think the WiiU is a no-brainer if you have young kids. You know there will be a healthy selection of games you can let your kids play without worry. Sure, you may not be able to get the latest brown & bloody shooter or bro sports game, but if you are getting t for a young child, then that is a GOOD thing. My kids much prefer the WiiU over the other options, and if they had Minecraft on it then nothing else would ever be turned on.
This is a good deal for one, seems to be in good supply and it has a nice collectible. If you don't care about that or already have it, you can probably sell the game to a friend. |

I was torn between the two Wii U bundles. The Wash Buckler figure is pretty cool looking. Decided to go with the Mario and Luigi Bundle, however, because it had more to offer. Used the 20% off, week after Thanksgiving Target coupon, so I picked it up for $240.

Not bad. I think one more year and an eval of titles and another price drop and I will be a Wii U owner.

That's a darn good price if you want a Wii U and Skylanders for it. Use some coupons/other discounts and pick up Giants for Wii U too.

Is Giants for Wii U any different than Giants for the Wii? Besides the better graphics, of course.
