Blacked out islands? [CLOSED]

I was off collecting kudos this morning and ran into some weird blacked out islands when visiting twainshome. They're unlocked, as they have houses and such on them, but the islands themselves are completely blacked out. What is this?

Perhaps the player didn't clear some evilized sugarbats quickly enough. The island has become... corrupted.

It could be a glitch from the new Winter update.
